Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

etrailer.com Technical Support

Using primarily for a bike rack. Install is straight forward. An older (2012-16) Subaru Impreza sedan install video is out there on Utube. On the 2022 model, the frame hole for wire feed does not require enlargement, it all fits fine! Get a set of extra hands for raising the hitch to the frame mount bolts. I didn't have help or a suitable jack, so it was a very fiddly situation. I was able to thread a cpl bolts with just the nut to start and get the hitch in place for fastening. You want to be careful to not push fed bolts back up in the vehicle frame :) No major towing happens on a Subaru Imprezza sedan, but this will work great for a bike rack and cargo shelf. Trunk is accessible once the bike rack is mounted. A+++.

We received the trailer hitch which is a birthday gift for my son in law in a timely fashion. It was delivered when the company predicted. Also,an inquiry about the delivery was answered promptly and courteously. I will be able to further review the trailer hitch after my son in law uses it.

Just installed as a two person job. Took about 2 and half hours as we ran into some trouble removing the exhaust. Other wise easy to install and good directions and helpful video. Have not tested with Nike rack or trailer in it yet

Keep in mind that using the adapter shown in the photo will lower the hitch capacity by half. This means that the weight of the bikes plus the rack theyre carried upon cannot be more than 50 of the hitchs rated tongue weight capacity, which would be 100 lbs in this case.

by:

Everything went perfect, installation video was extremely helpful. I couldn’t believe it took under an hour to install without any problems. We cannot wait for bike rack to come so we can use it.

Very easy to install especially with the video by etrailer. Shipped the same day as ordered. All around great experience.

Installed on 2020 Subaru Impreza sedan. Having experience working on cars all my life, it took me about 20 min by myself. If your a novice, get yourself an extra hand to help hold it in place "it's not as light as it looks trying to hold in place with one hand and installing nuts and bolts with the other while lying on your back reaching for sockets." Also, give yourself a little extra time. As far as quality; I've had other hitches on other cars that were crap. I recommend either a Draw-Tite or Reese.

by:

did not install , way to much reciever for that make of car. would have only cleared the ground by a few inches.

I would not be too worried about installing this hitch on your vehicle. It sits 9.5 inches from level ground to the top of your receiver opening on your Impreza.

by:

Good hitch but had to buy a hitch extention to attach a two bike rack because the inside bike was too close to the trunk. No one informed me of this problem.

by:

Secure, sleek, and perfectly set for my bike rack.

by:

I've been using this to mount my bike rack for the past year. Installation was simple, about an hour total. It's been reliable with no signs of loosening or damage. Excellent!

Pretty straight forward installation…video of the installation was a big help. Getting ready to put the bike rack in our new hitch and head to the trailhead…super stoked!

  • Hitch & Bike Rack Options For 2017 Subaru Impreza
I recommend getting the 2 inch hitch receiver # 306-X7350 for your 2017 Subaru Impreza. If you have dual exhaust then you'll have to go with a 1-1/4 inch hitch # 24960. If you go with the 2 inch hitch, I really like the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU24FR. It can hold 3 bikes and is good for almost any bike you throw at it as long as it's under 40 lbs. If you have to go with the 1-1/4 inch hitch, you should get the Swagman Trailhead 3. It's a great entry level bike rack and will get the job done....

  • Will an Aftermarket Trailer Hitch Void 2016 Subaru Impreza Drivetrain Warranty
When installing aftermarket products on your vehicle, like a trailer hitch in this instance, consumers are protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. This act states, in part, that unless the installation and aftermarket product actually caused a problem then the installation and use of an aftermarket product will not void the warranty. You can learn more about the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act online. We have not heard from other customers about a hitch voiding the drivetrain warranty...

  • Cost-Effective Recommendations to Carry 1 Kayak and 2 Bikes with a 2017 Subaru Impreza Sedan
I checked out the OEM roof rack for your 2017 Subaru Impreza that you inquired about and it doesn't quite look like any of the roof racks that we have to offer. Typically OEM roof racks will get the job done, but going with a brand like Thule or Yakima will last much longer due to the quality of the work. With that being said, the most cost effective roof rack that we currently have to offer for your Impreza is the Inno square bar roof rack which consists of the Crossbars # INB127, Inno...

  • Roof Weight Capacity of a 2012 Subaru Impreza
According to the owner's manual for your 2012 Subaru Impreza, the roof rack weight capacity is 150 lbs. Unfortunately, you cannot exceed this weight capacity as it takes into consideration both the vehicle and rack. Therefore, even with an aftermarket roof rack installed you will still be limited to 150 lbs. This is also a rather high rating as most vehicles have a 100 lb weight capacity and most aftermarket roof racks only go to 165 lbs. If you need to carry more cargo and do not have...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Cargo Carrier For 2017 Subaru Impreza
Since the trailer hitch receivers for your 2017 Subaru Impreza including the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # DT24959 you were looking at all have a tongue weight rating of 200lbs, you will need to make sure that the weight of the cargo carrier you use and the scooter does not exceed 200lbs. Keep in mind that the # DT24959 is only confirmed to fit the 5-door wagon models with single exhaust, if you have a sedan I recommend the # 24960 instead....

  • Recommended 1-Bike Rack And Trailer Hitch Receiver To Transport E-Bike On 2021 Subaru Impreza
Yes, the RockyMounts HighNoon FC Solo Bike Rack for 1 Bike # RKY87RR would be a great option for your 2021 Subaru Impreza Sedan. The weight capacity of this rack is 60lbs which is plenty for your 48lb bike. Last but not least, make sure you have a trailer hitch receiver installed and if you do not have one then you can use Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # 24960.

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Carrier Recommendation for a 2015 Subaru Impreza Sedan
We do have several trailer hitches for the 2015 Subaru Impreza sedan but I do not recommend Curt hitch # C11408. This is because Curt requires the use of stabilization strap # 18050 when using the trailer hitch for anything other than a trailer; in this case a bike rack. The strap is the very thing you are trying to avoid. For a hitch that will fit and that does not require a stabilization strap you can use Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24960. To use the hitch for an accessory such as a...

  • Installing Hitch Meant for 2004 Subaru Forester on 2014 Subaru Impreza
The Curt # C12038 is a fit for the 1998-2008 Subaru Forester only, and wouldn't fit your new 2014 Impreza. For the 2014 Impreza, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite # DT24959, assuming your Impreza is a single exhaust hatchback model. For a four door sedan model, that's NOT a WRX or a WRX STi model, go with the Draw-Tite Class I, part # 24960. For a WRX or a WRX STi model, use the Curt part # C113178.

I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24960 with a Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver with 5" Rise # HT5R for your 2019 Subaru Impreza sedan. This receiver is custom fit for your Impreza and will fit properly. It does have a 200lb capacity rating which reduces to 100lbs with the adapter. • Why Won't Cargo Carrier Shank Fit Into Class I Trailer Hitch On 2017 Subaru Impreza
It sounds like you have a Class I Trailer Hitch like the Draw-Tite # 24960 installed on your 2017 Subaru Impreza. Certain Class I trailer hitches like this one feature a tab inside the receiver that prevents higher class accessories from fitting properly. This was done by the manufacturer to prevent the trailer hitch and vehicle from being overloaded with higher class/heavier carriers or bike racks. Your existing Curt Cargo Carrier is most likely a Class II or higher accessory, which is...

I have a solution for you but they do not make hidden class I hitches for your 2020 Subaru Impreza Sport. Instead you will want the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 306-X7350. This hitch has a hidden crosstube that installs behind your rear bumper. This means the only thing you'll see hanging below the rear bumper is the 2" x 2" receiver. None of the options have a hidden cross tube. It sounds like you will be doing some towing so the recommended ball mount is # 3594 and it comes with a pin and clip. If you are looking at the Draw-Tite # 24960 (sedan models only), you will need a hitch pin that is compatible with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. For that part, you need the Curt Hitch Pin and Clip for 1-1/4" Hitches # F-4. As for the Draw-Tite # 76209 (5-door wagon with single exhaust models only), you will need a hitch pin that is compatible with a 2-inch receiver. For that part, you need the Pin and Clip for 2" # PC3.
