Question:
Why do you have to run a battery to the positive terminal

Helpful Expert Reply:
The reason you need to run a power wire to the battery of your 2016 Subaru Impreza is to power the module of the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118573.
This allows it to draw power directly from the battery to bypass the electrical systems, so there is virtually no draw on your tail lights so they are protected from shorting out. I have added a link below to a help article which details the best way to route a power wire.
Additionally, if you also need a trailer hitch for your 2016 Subaru Impreza, the correct fit will depend on if you have the hatchback or sedan:
- Hatchback/Wagon (with single exhaust only): Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT24959
- Sedan: Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24960
