Completed installation of the Hidden Hitch 87570 for 2011 Ford Transit Connect. Installation for one person in the drive way was difficult, however a little innovation solved the problem. After the spare tire was lowered a 2x2 was cut to size to fit into the 2" hitch opening, after which it was cut to length of about 28". The small cable hub that is inserted through the spare tire rim was mounted onto the 2x2, then inserted into the hitch 2" opening of the hitch, and the spare tire cable was attached to the hub. The the hitch was raised (like raising a spare tire) using the lug wrench crank. Lifted evenly and was manageable to align the hitch to the frames welded nuts.
The fit was very close and tight and does take some wiggling to get into place, but fit very nice.
The best part of the hitch installation for me was the fact the muffler did not have to be removed for the hitch to be installed.
The only problem with the hitch I received was all cosmetic. The paint or powder coating was in terrible shape. The paint had blisters and was flaking off. Even cut my fingers 3 different times removing it from the box on cracked flaked paint. The blisters were mush like pins or splinters going into my fingers. VERY POOR PAINT FINISH! I am sure those areas are gong to rust very quickly. PLEASE SEE PICTURES ATTACHED OF THE EXTENSIVE PAINT BLISTERING ON THE HIDDEN HITCH.
I received my Hidden Hitch for my new 2012 Ford Transit Connect from etrailer in a timely fashion. I had it installed in about 30 minutes. It's much easier for one person by backing the vehicle onto standard car ramps for easy access. I used a rubber bungee cord to hold up one side while I started the bolts in the other side. Everything fit perfectly as advertised. It actually took longer to lower the spare tire then raise it back in position when finished than it did to attach the hitch. I have another Hidden Hitch product on another car so I knew the quality would be excellent. I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with etrailer and the service I received. I am not a mechanic nor do I consider myself a "car guy." I was still able to do the installation on my own although I did have some help (my wife held up one side while I bolted the other side). The installation was easy - pretty much a "no brainer."
I found the most difficult part was dealing with the spare tire. It took some time to disconnect and re-connect the spare tire's lowering cable.
The hitch is well made and sturdy.

I purchased a trailer hitch for my Chry 300, and it fitted and worked perfectly. It took me about 4 hours to install, because I didn't follow the instructions that were laid out in the video. So, when I purchased a hitch for my Ford Transit, I followed the direction, minus using help, and I was able to install it by myself in 1 hr. It would have taken 15 minutes if I had help holding it up, but I had to stack some wood to assist LMBO. Again, looks great, fits and works perfectly. Thank you much ETRAILER... I luv you

Easy to install. Took about 30 minutes. Everything lined up and went according to the instructions.
It sits a little low on the transit connect, so I just flipped the hitch ball mount around to make it higher. Took the trailer for a test spin and all works well. Very pleased.
Prompt delivery. Would recommend wrapping/padding ends of hitch as box had holes in it when delivered due to ends flopping around in box. No damage other than hopes in box.

Relatively simple install for one person. I struggled a little with lifting the hitch into place but used a jack to help. The sale was so easy and thorough. etrailer is the best. Always concerned about such a big item working right, because return shipping would be a nightmare. Happy to say, the receiver hitch installed easy and works great with my hitch bike rack. It was delivered quickly. Clear, simple instructions included. Took about 30 minutes to install. No special tool or skills needed. The hitch is still working great. The black paint is holding up without any signs of wear. Totally maintenance free. Will go through etrailer for future hitch purchases.
Needed a hitch receiver to tow a cement mixer & small trailer for work had it installed by a friend who lead me to your receiver and he was impressed also....great product

The hitch has been working great, I have a cargo basket that goes on easily plus I tow a small cement mixer on occasion, it went in without any problems, I was worried about ground clearance but it doesnt seem to be an issue....I like it
Trailer hitch quality is great and is a very solid place to mount a bike rack. The problem is the transmission in the Transit Connect it not capable of towing much of anything and after towing a 1000lb trailer our transmission failed. It is a Ford Focus transmission and it just isn't up to the task. So 5 stars for the hitch if used for a bike rack or 1 star for it actually towing anything.
Works great. It was pretty easy to install once I got the mounts on my vehicle tapped (they were a little gunky and needed help taking the bolts). I am no mechanic and, although I had help tapping the holes, I did the rest of the install myself, I mean all by myself. It was totally easy as a one person install and took me only maybe an hour to mount the hitch receiver and wire up the trailer lights connection.
We bought this receiver for a cargo carrier for retirement traveling.
We backed onto double 2x6's to get more room. We put the hitch on jack stands. But I was not strong enough to lift it. We then put a 2x2 through the hole and zip tied to the spare tire cable and Ann winched and I guided the hitch up and bolted it on.
We love the hitch because the square hole is out far enough we can pin the carrier on and safety chain on without reaching under the van. Also good spot to hook for a snow bank winch out.
