Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2014 Ford F-150 - Draw-Tite

Today in our 2014 Ford F150, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite, max frame trailer hitch receiver, class 3, part number 75691. As you see, this is what our new hitch looks like here on our F150. It's a nice black, powder coated finish that's going to resist rust and corrosion. It's tucked up here underneath the bumper, it does stick out just a little bit but it gives you easy access to the receiver tube with your five eighths pin hole and a pre drilled hole for your J pin style hitch lock. Easy access here to the tie downs, so when you hook your trailer up, you can put your safety chains into position. Use two existing holes in the frame with two bolts on each side to hold it up.

It does have a six hundred pound tongue weight and a six thousand pound towing capacity. You also want to double check the capacity of you're vehicle from the manufacturer and go with whichever one is lower. Now we'll go ahead and give you some measurements that will help you choose an accessory, such as ball mounts, bike racks and cargo carriers. From the center of our hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of our bumper, is three and three quarter inches and from the top of the receiver tube to the ground, it's sixteen inches. Now, we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. To start our installation out, we'll go ahead and point out the mounting locations for our hitch.

Extremely easy hitch to install, we'll be using this oval hole here that faces the rear of the truck and then the side hole here in the frame. It'll be identical on both sides, now we'll go ahead and put out the hardware. For our rear most vinyl location, we'll be using the bolt that comes with the kit, conical tooth washer that will go through the hitch, through our frame in this location and it will get held on there by another conical tooth washer. You want to make sure those face the frame on the backside and then the hitch on the front side and then get secured with a hex nut here. That'll be the same for both locations here on the rear and for the bigger hole here, you'll go ahead and get the bolt, the conical tooth washer, and then we'll add our square hole, special block, then the thicker round washer and feed it through the hole and the hitch. Then you can go ahead and take another conical tooth washer and hex nut and secure it on the backside. Now we'll go ahead and get an extra set of hands to help set our hitch into position.

We'll raise the hitch up, put our washer on and then our nut. We have our conical tooth washer and our flat washer here, feed that through the hole into the hitch, then we'll add on our special block, conical tooth washer and nut. We'll go ahead and get that started hand tight, we'll repeat the same process on the passenger side. Now we go ahead and snug our hardware down using a three quarter inch socket and a three quarter inch wrench. We're going to go ahead and get that one tightened down and then we'll go ahead and tighten the forward location. Now that we have those tightened down, we can go ahead and torque them to specifications as indicated in the instructions.

Now that we have everything tightened and torqued, we're ready to hit the road and that will do it for the draw tight, max frame trailer hitch receiver, part number 75691 on our 2014 Ford F150. .

We all have this world wide web to find the products that we need. etrailer not only has what we need, but also enough information for us to get exactly what we need, without having to get the wrong thing first. I ordered this hitch reciever, ball mount, 2" ball and reviever lock in the same order. All arrived in a reasonable amount of time, as promised. All were in good condition, and good quality. All the instructions were included and installation was easy. This has been a worry free buying experience. I would reccomend etrailer to enyone looking for towing accessories. 19385

The product came quickly through express shipping, and I had it installed on my truck within a week of placing my order. The instructions were easy to follow, and all of the parts were there. As someone who is not extremely mechanically gifted, this was was a pretty simple installation even for me. It works exactly as it should. I like that after installing the hitch system, most of it is hidden under the bumper and does not stand out. The only negative was that the holes where the hitch system bolts onto my truck did not line up perfectly, but it worked ok despite that. All in all, it is exactly what I hoped It would be. 499180

My vehicle did not come with a "towing package" from the factory. After research I found that it was not needed for my vehicle use. The Hidden Hitch receiver fit on my 2010 Ford F150 SC STX perfectly. The product arrived earlier than expected with moderate damage to the box but the receiver hitch and mounting hardware was in perfect condition. The box being damaged was to be expected because of the weight of the item during shipping. I found etrailer.com through the Hidden Hitch vendor list online. I was a little upset that my normal company I purchase from did not have the product in stock and there were very few companies that did. Etrailer.com had excellent customer service in addition to a fair purchase price. I am a consumer that votes with my wallet and I will definitely continue to do my business with them. Thank you etrailer.com. 16426

Received my Draw Tite Trailer hitch one day before the expected delivery date. I love how tracking of shipping was provided to me daily. Trailer hitch looks terrific and I expect to install this week end if weather permits. The only draw back I didn't like was that the free shipping on orders over $99 made me think that I only had that much time left showing on the screen. What I didn't know was that the clock start all over again each day that I have been checking it. 177064

First I would like to say having the feedback and pictures/ install video sold me on this product. I didn't want to buy a hitch that was exposed and this hitch hides nicely. This hitch went on exactly as the video showed, very easy to install using the instructions/video. My only problem was the spare tire being in the way but was able to work around the tight spaces. If you lower the tire a little this hitch would be on in roughly 20 mins. Shipped faster than expected, high quality, easy install. Doesn't get much better than that. Thanks etrailer. 33882

Very pleased with product. Great service, fast shipping, and the hitch looks like the OEM at least half the price. Installed myself. I too had problem with spacer washer. Will have to redo the two rear bolts. I am sure taping the spacers in place will work. Might suggest including a comment in the installation instructions on that point. Also recoommend lowering the spare tire, especially for larger tires. 27061

Took a little longer to receive than expected based on prior product reviews (8 days from order to receipt). Hitch went on without a glitch on my 2012 F150 Supercrew. Actually took longer to lower the spare tire and find the right size wrenches than it did to install. 87142

Bought a 2011 Ford F150 with no trailer tow package. I decided to add the trailer hitch myself. I started searching on Etrailer and ended up buying the Draw-Tite hitch. The kit came with instructions and all included parts. I installed it by myself in about 35 minutes. It looks great and already pulled my trailer with it without any problems. Great Product. 29558

Excellent customer service. Very quick on shipping. Easy to install as stated online when I ordered it. It took me 20 minutes from start to finish. I can't wait to tow my trailer now without using the bumper hitch. It will be so much nicer. I will definately use Etrailer again next time I need something for my truck. Thanks to everyone who took part in my order. Mel R. p.s. pics didn't turn out so good. 38811

Fitment was right on. Simple install with a jack to hold up one side. 2013 F150 came without trailer package and 4-prong outlet is prewired and terminates below rear bumper without slack in wiring. Purchased 18" extension from a big box store for $5 and its something you could definitely sell as I had to order an unneeded pin to get me over the free-shipping threshold. Overall awesome service and delivery. 663876

Fair prices. Free shipping that is reasonably fast considering the distance, weight and size. Very easy to install. What took the longest during install, was finding a 7/8” open end wrench, that the directions said was needed, but after searching through tool boxes and eventually finding this wrench, I found that all I needed was two 3/4” wrenches. I like this hitch because you don’t see much of it sticking out from the truck and that is why I purchased this model. 609316

Received product via UPS on Wed. 29th Aug., very quick shipment, got home friday 31st Aug., installed it in about 45minutes because I used my car jack and jack stands to hold it in place while I installed bolts and washers.... so most of that time was parking the truck in the garage and the rest of the setup.. looks great hidden away as advertised.. great company to order from price, help if needed, and follow up. Product arrived via UPS as informed. Box slightly banged up; not unexpected considering the weight and size. Installed the same day in about 45 minutes. Vertical mounting brackets slightly tweaked, likely occurring during shipping, didn't preclude proper installation. In my specific application, a ratcheting box end wrench along with a regular box end would have made installation easier. All in all, a very good experience with etrailer.com and am satisfied with the hitch itself. 556506

This product delivered as described. It fit well, and installation was easy. There was one issue which is why i did not give 5 stars. Three out of the four 1/2-13 Hex nuts were the correct size. The fourth one, was one size too small. It looked to be a 3/8-13. So, having to go out and buy the correct nut was a minor inconvenience. 489653

  • Parts Needed for 2014 Ford F-150 to Tow Trailer with Electric Brakes
  • We have everything needed to equip your 2014 Ford F-150 so that it can tow your utility trailer and power its electric brakes. The exact parts you need will depend a bit on what is already installed on your truck. Starting at the rear bumper, if you just have a 4-Way connector (and not a 7-Way round connector), I recommend using the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 to install a fully functional 7-Way. This kit also includes the additional wiring needed to install a trailer brake controller....

  • Is an Aerolite Trailer with a 900-lb Tongue Weight too Heavy for a 2013 Ford F-150 When Using WD
  • To confirm whether it is safe for you to pull your Aerolite with your 2013 Ford F-150 you can simply look at the weight rating on the trailer hitch itself. If you cannot find it then you can contact the manufacturer to see what it is rated. Some trailer hitches have a weight rating that is increased significantly when a Weight Distribution (WD) system is involved in the towing setup. For example, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75691, which is confirmed to fit your F-150,...

  • Parts Needed to Tow Safely with a 2010 Ford F-150
  • First let's start with a brake controller. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. To install this controller in your 2010 Ford F-150 will only require the install harness part # 22292...

  • What is the Best Class III Hitch for the 2011 Ford F-150
  • Without a doubt, for the 2011 Ford F-150, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch, # 75691, over the other hitches designed for this truck. For less than 20 dollars more than the competitors hitches, the # 75691 hitch has more towing capacity if used with weight distribution, has a curved cross tube for a better appearance under the rear bumper, and has a tab welded to the cross tube to accept brackets for trailer wiring harnesses. All of the hitches designed...

  • Can Trailer Hitches for 2009 Ford F-150 Be Used with Weight Distribution to Tow More than 6,000 lbs.
  • All of the hitches available for the 2009 Ford F-150 are rated for 6,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 600 pounds tongue weight capacity. However, all of the available hitches (see link) are rated for use with weight distribution which will allow the hitch to tow 10,000 pounds (# 13368) to 12,000 pounds (# 75691) depending on the hitch. These are ratings for the hitch, but not the truck. You will need to check the owners manual to determine if a weight distribution system can be used...

  • Will a Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Fit a 2010 Ford F-150 STX with Factory Trailer Wiring Harness
  • If your 2010 Ford F-150 came with a trailer wiring harness from the factory, then the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75691, will fit because the design of the truck was taken into account when the hitch was made. If the wiring harness was added as an after market part, depending on where it is located it may or may not interfere with hitch installation. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the hitch so you can see where it installs. If your truck came with a factory...

  • Is Drilling Required to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2009 Ford F-150
  • Your 2009 Ford F-150 does have holes in the frame to install a trailer hitch without having to drill into the truck frame. In some cases holes may have to be enlarged using a file or drill but new holes won't have to be drilled. Draw-Tite Class III Max Frame Receiver Hitch - 2009 Ford F-150 # 75691 is a popular option for your truck. I linked a video showing an example installation for you. • Does Use of Weight Distribution System Increase Trailer Towing Capacity
  • Some trailer hitches will have higher tongue weight (TW) and towing capacities when used with a weight distribution/sway control (WD/SC) system like the Pro Series # PS49903. As an example, the Draw-Tite Class III hitch # 75691 we offer for your truck is rated for 600-lbs of TW and 6K trailer weight without a WD/SC system, but those ratings double to 1200-lbs and 12,000-lbs when a system is used. Your hitch's safety/warning sticker will indicate if it has a higher rating with WD/SC. You...

  • Sway Control and Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • For your 2013 Subaru Outback the Draw-Tite part # 75673 would be a great option for you as it has a 2 inch opening and Class III capacities. None of the hitches we offer for your vehicle are rated for use with a weight distribution system. Usually this has more to do with the vehicle than the hitch itself. Since the hitch manufacturers specifically say not to use a WD system I can't recommend one for you. Instead you could use a friction sway control unit like the part # 83660 to help...

The receiver tube is the main portion that'll be visible, along with the lower portion of the hitch crossbar. • The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75691 on your 2010 Ford F-150 does not need to be replaced. The hitch is rated for 6,000 lbs and 600 lb tongue weight without weight distribution and up to 12,000 lbs towing and 1200 lbs tongue weight when used with weight distribution. The hitch will work well for you and you will only be limited by your truck's towing capacity as your hitch will carry more than the max amount your trailer can tow so you definitely...
