Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

etrailer.com Technical Support

quick shipping, 10 minute install, nice fit on my 95 civic. thanks

Honda Civic

Good value. This was much harder to install than anticipated. There is very little space on the frame to install this prodict on a Honda Civic.

by:
2015 Honda Civic

this was the easiest hitch that i've installed yet.did not have to do any extra work.less than 15 min to bolt on my 1998 civic.

by:

This is the easiest hitch I have ever installed. Wish they had a plug-n-play wiring kit for my car.

by:

This hitch went on in 15 minutes, thanks to to the video showing how the tip to fish the bolt and block into the frame at the same time, WOW what a time saver!!

Also I received the 48hrs after ordering, Fantastic!!

2000 Honda Civic

It was interesting putting a trailer hitch on a 2000 Honda Civic LX, but it was cheaper than buying a truck. I was unable to install the small metal plate that came with the attachment hardware because of the tight clearances. Other than that it was very easy to install.

by:
1996 Honda Civic

Great product, Super easy installation. It took a total of 20 minutes for me to install from opening the box to putting away all the tools at then end of the job.

I was a bit hesitant about installing my own hitch and there is no reason to be. It was super simple.

by:
Honda Civic

I ordered a trailer hitch for my Honda civic. The order was followed by a few emails one letting me know that my order had been placed. One giving me the delivery details of my hitch. It came on time and was easilyinstalled just as they said it would be. The one down fall was the bolt was a tad bit longer than it should have been. But I just used a cats paw to lever it in. Y

by:

Very solid hitch. super easy installation. We are using the hitch for a bike trailer connection, so we did not use lights on it.

by:

The video showing how to install the trailer hitch was very helpful. I was able to install the hitch quickly and easily. I also bought a bike rack at the same time, which mounted easily into the trailer hitch. I am very happy with the whole process.

by:
1998 Honda Civic

This is a great product, very pleased with the quality.
Bolted right up with no modification to the holes in the frame rails on my 1998 Honda Civic 2dr DX. Comes with all the hardware that you will need. It also has instructions that's easy to follow and complete in detail. I basicly got this trailer hitch for our bike rack. Loving it so far.

by:

Easy to install, looks good. Thanks to etrailer.com for an awesome buying experience! I was notified each step of the way and got a confirmation email when they saw UPS had delivered the product. I have already referred friends and will refer many more. Great videos on the website for the wiring too. I lost my instruction sheet and in about 2 minutes of looking I was watching the video showing me how to get everyting hooked up. I am a very happy customer.

by:

Installation was fairly straight forward however I did have to pull out the due grinder to open up the holes on the Frame rail to be able to insert the carriage bolts.

Thank you very much for the speedy service.

Attached is a photo of the hitch on a 1994 Honda Civic. Unfortunately the bumper itself is warped so there is a wider gap on one side.

Thank you.

A year later and no problems whatsoever. Have a lightweight 4X8 trailer from Harbor Freight, built sides for it, and Ive been hauling everything under the sun! Awesome hitch! Definitely recommend!!

by:

Just received my receiver hitch today and put it on as soon as I got home. Start to finish 20 minutes by myself. I had tried another hitch that said it was for my 1995 Honda but it wasn’t even close, but I watched an “etrailer” install video and had my frame all prepped for my new hitch.. The fit is perfect and it was a breeze to install.. great product, great company and a great value.. thanks

by:

This hitch receiver is perfect! I was able to install this with-in minutes on my own, with out even a second set of hands. The fit is perfect, the quality is there, Nice and sturdy, well built product. Great customer service as well.
Thanks so much

by:

Fits great! Had to use the included spacers to clear the flanges on the holes in the frame, but overall it bolted up clean and straight. Very sturdy product made with thick materials. It's class one rating is not because of the hitch, it's because of the weak materials my car is made from!

by:
1999 Honda Civic

It bolted right up no problems at all, there was instructions to tell you how it all goes together, supper easy, very strong was standing on it and bouncing, I weigh 225, I took off the bumper to make things even easier

by:

I didn't know if my Honda Civic was stropng enough for a trailer hitch, but etrailer's video on installation of the Draw-Tite hitch showed sturdy steel along the sides of the car. The heft of the hitch itself ensured a strong system. Installation took 20 minutes on my neighbor's hoist.

great! I pull my fishing boat trailer often.

2002 Honda Civic

Hitch held up well. I know its not rated for really towing, and neither is a 4 door civic LX. How ever the hitch installed quite easily, and I was able to tow my 2002 seadoo GTX RFI (900 lbs with a trailer, maybe 200 lbs tongue load). I'll admit, you could feel every bump and all forces inside the vehicle, it was able to do it though. I see why people say you need a truck to tow anything, and for peace of mind it is true, after using my civic and then a Tahoe to tow, the difference is night and day. with a Tahoe, you don't even notice you're towing.

If you want to tow anything other than a cargo trailer (the tiny uhaul ones) or something small, like a dirtbike on a single trailer, or just cargo rack for bicycles, you should be using a larger vehicle and a 2" hitch. This did get the job done and has held up well over the last year.

by:
2000 Honda Civic

I bought two hitches, one for my 98 Civic and another for my 2000 Civic. My Thule Helium Aero bike carrier fits well both.

Installation was very easy, although I hand to bend a little the rails around the holes to make room for the screws. BTW, the rails' steel is quite soft, I did use just a stubby screwdriver to bend it; don't use the chisel/hammer method as per the video!

BTW, the etrailer.com's customer support is very, very good. When installing the second hitch, I stripped one of the threads. It took just an email describing the issue to have a replacement part sent to me - at no charge.

Overall, very happy with both the hitches and etraler.com's CS.

  • How Thick Is The Metal of Square Tubing On The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24677
I contacted our representative at Hidden Hitch about the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 24677. The representative at Draw-Tite informed me that the thickness of the tubing for part # 24677 is 3/16 inches. The arms of the hitch that connect to the frame of the vehicle are 1/2 inch thick. This is a Class I hitch and is intended for light duty use as it has a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. Part # 24677 does not include a drawbar. • Are Draw-Tite Hitches for 99 Honda Civic and 2002 Honda Civic The Same?
I've attached the schematics of both the Draw-Tite # 24677 for the 1999 Honda Civic and the Draw-Tite # 24706 which fits the 2002 Honda Civic, and I can see that they do look extremely similar, but they aren't the same hitch. Because of the differences in the shape of the frame and the differences in mounting places, you're not going to be able to use your Draw-Tite # 24677 on your 2002 Honda Civic- at least not in a way that will allow you to use any type of hitch mounted accessories. We do indeed have a hitch that'll fit your 1994 Honda del Sol, the Curt Class I receiver hitch, part # C11724. • Ball Mount Recommendation for Use with Draw Tite Hitch for 2000 Honda Civic
The correct ball mount to use with the Draw Tite hitch part # 24677 which is a confirmed fit for your 2000 Honda Civic is the part # 3593. The instructions are out of date and they didn't change the recommended ball mount portion. For hitch balls you'd want the part # 19258 for a 2 inch ball or part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball. • Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24677 Fit a 1994 Civic Coupe with Aftermarket Exhaust
First, I can tell you that trailer hitches are designed for stock vehicles. The addition of aftermarket parts like exhaust are not factored in to the hitch design. If the exhaust is the same size and takes the same path as the factory exhaust, it should not be an issue. If it is larger then there is a chance the hitch will not fit. I went out to the warehouse and took some measurements of the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24677. I made a picture that shows the following measurements for you...
