Video Transcript for Bulldog Hitch Locks - Standard Pin Lock - BD580401 Review

Today, we'll be reviewing part number BD580401. This is the Bulldog Lifelong trailer hitch receiver lock for 2-inch hitches. The flush style trailer hitch receiver lock is used in place of your standard hitch pin and clip. This is going to help prevent theft of a ball mount or hitch mount accessory. It's also going to allow you to secure your accessory inside of your 2-inch x 2-inch trailer hitch receiver. Here on the end, it has the ball bearing locking system that's going to provide maximum security and ease of use. Just drop the deadbolt locking system onto the end of the pin. We need to make sure that it's in the disengaged position first.

You know it's disengaged if this little nub here is sticking out. You place that over the pin. Once it's on there, you just push it down, and it's going to lock that deadbolt system onto the end of the pin. It's made from a solid steel construction, so this pin offers superior strength and durability. It has a nice chrome plating that's going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. It also has a nice plastic cap that covers the key slot to help prevent corrosion in the locking mechanism. It comes with two high-security square keys. A couple of measurements real quick.

The pin diameter is going to be 5/8 inch, and then the inside pin length, or the span, is going to measure 2-1/2 inches, measuring from this point here to this point here. Now, we'll go ahead and show you how this system works. We'll go ahead and disengage it from the pin, and we'll take our ball mount and slide it inside of our hitch, line up our pin holes, and then, we can install our pin. Then, to lock it in place, we just place the lock onto the pin, push in, and it's engaged. Now, all we need to do is install the plastic dust cap and we're set to go.
