Hello neighbors, I'm Steve with etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at this Bulldog Collar Lock Coupler with a high profile latch if it's a 2" ball and a 3-1/2" round trailer tongue. And this guy is rated at 5,000 pounds capacity. It is a nice heavy duty coupler. It's gonna be ideal for utility, livestock, cargo, and construction trailers. It's got a nice integrated collar lock design, as they call it, and it's gonna offer automatic, continuously tight fitting for absolute security.
And it also has a hinge ball socket to make hook up a snap. Now everything here is high strength durable steel. It's been powder coated. You can paint it whatever color you want. Now it is a weld-on application and it has a nice high profile latch for ease of use.
And again, whenever everything is closed here or open, you're gonna get a nice visual indication of both of those open and closed procedures. Now again, it is a round straight tongue mount design, and I wanna go ahead and show you how this operates. I'm gonna pull a ball out of the bottom here. Again, this ball is not included. This is just for demonstration only.
So you'll simply pull this safety pin out, pull the latch up, it'll spring lock open as you saw there. So it's got a spring in there and that guy springs open. You would simply come down on the ball on the trailer. Then you simply push that close. And as you can see, this whole thing's moving here and it's gonna visually show you one up here that it's closed and the collar's all the way forward.
So right now, that ball's on there, it's not going nowhere. It's locked in place there, it's not going nowhere. Now to get that ball out, you would simply pull this again, that lock's open, boom, very simple operation. You can see that spring inside of there. So again, you get that nice visual, hey, this is open, or hey, this is closed. And I'm gonna go ahead and close this here. Maybe, so yeah, we're gonna go and close it. And then again, put your safety pin back in whenever you're ready to go down the highway. So again, very nice application. Again, if it's a 2" ball, it is 16-1/4" long. Ready for 5,000 pounds. Comes with a nice limited five year warranty. Well folks, that's gonna do it for our look today at the Bulldog Collar Lock Coupler with the High Profile Latch, again for 2" balls. I'm Steve with etrailer.com. Have a good day.

Heavy-duty coupler has a high-profile latch and hinged ball socket that offers a tight fit with visual indication of proper closure around the ball - all to ensure quick, easy and secure hookup.I bought this old really cheap to rebuild. One of the parts that had to be replaced was the hitch, I towed it home with my fingers crossed. I googled trailer hitch, trailer and etrailer was one of the sites that was suggested. I had to find a hitch that fit the 3 1/2" pipe that was the tongue, voila there it was to my amazement. I ordered it right then, 4 days later it was delivered yesterday. Today I mounted it, it was an easy installation and I am really pleased with the hitch and install. My fears of losing a trailer are now history, tomorrow it gets tested with 1 1/2 yards of gravel for the slab for my new. shop
I looked everywhere for a round coupler for my Tube-Neck trailer, then I found etrailer! I used it to replace the original, which was a thin steel coupler, that had been "pounded-out" until it was round!? This coupler is 20 times stronger. I had it welded on at the local welding shop. I took it on a 800 mile Hunting trip to southern Arizona last November. Not once was I the least bit concerned about the trailer, knowing that this strong coupler was now keeping everything connected. I gave it 4-stars, because the wire connector between the locking lever and the sliding collar, can easily be bent, and then can come free from the locking lever. Instead, it should be a solid steel piece, that is more firmly attached.
Everything works perfectly and the customer service is fantastic—even a phone call to discuss some details . I will order from etrailer again and highly recommend them to anyone needing trailer parts.

perfect fit, thanks
Five star service from etrailer, and maybe a two or three-star product from Bulldog. Aside from the rust and the fact that the collar is so stiff that it can't be operated by hand, the fabrication on the steel attachment plate is poor. The holes for the tongue jack are punched out, twice in some cases, resulting in an enlarged hole, but there are no threads for the tongue jack so you'll have to fumble around and use nuts underneath. The vertical angles on the steel are wrong, so it will splay out at the bottom and won't fit tightly to the A-frame and you will need to shim it out. The interior of the casting is full of weld spatter that will chafe the tow ball. I bought the less-expensive Ram sleeve-lock coupler under a Curt label and the fabrication is much better, having none of the problems the BullDog did. etrailer kindly sent me an RMA to return the BullDog.
The best coupler we have used for our construction business. I have been using these for 14 years now without any problems. We replace them every 5 years at about 160,000 miles when we purchase new trailers. I currently need three now but they have been out of stock for several months. Still waiting for new stock to arrive so I can order. I feel safe with this type coupler and my employees also like the security it provides.
Don’t buy this!!! It literally does not work. You can’t open the coupling because it was built incorrectly. There isn’t enough room to slide the coupling back. Of course I didn’t realize this until I had mounted it on my trailer. etrailer customer service is about to get an earful!
The Bulldog coupler is SO MUCH easier to hitch up and disengage than my previous coupler which required several back and forth movements of my tow vehicle to engage/disengage the hitch ball.
