The TriFlex NEXT keeps your interior neat with a compact controller that mounts flush to the dash and measures only 1" thick. There’s no bulky box hanging below your knees, just a clean face with simple rocker switches and a large LED display that’s easy to read at a glance. The included bracket and hardware make it simple to secure in any angle, and automatic leveling handles the rest.
With its 3-axis motion-sensing accelerometer, the TriFlex NEXT matches trailer brake force to your braking pressure for natural, even stops. It automatically adjusts power output when traveling uphill or downhill so braking stays consistent on grades. The result is steady, proportional control that prevents push-pull motion and minimizes wear on both tow vehicle and trailer brakes.
You can dial in the exact braking feel you want. Set gain from 0.5 to 9.9 in 0.5-point steps using the gray rocker switch to match your trailer’s weight, then adjust load from 1 to 9 with the black switch to control braking aggressiveness. Whether you want softer engagement or a firmer response, these manual settings let you fine-tune performance without tools or guesswork.

Continuous diagnostic checks run in the background to catch issues before they become problems. The TriFlex NEXT includes short-circuit and reverse polarity protection to defend wiring and breakaway systems. A sleep mode reduces battery draw after five minutes of inactivity and wakes the moment you press the brake pedal, keeping your setup safe and ready.
Automatic leveling means flexible mounting options, and if your vehicle has a plug-in brake control harness, setup is quick—just connect it and go. For other applications, a vehicle-specific harness or hardwire install can be used. This unit handles trailers with up to 4 axles (8 brake assemblies) and works with electric trailer brakes for broad compatibility.

If a custom brake control wiring adapter is not available for your vehicle, one of the following will be required:

Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the CURT TriFlex NEXT trailer brake controllers for one to four axles. Now these are proportional braking controllers, and this is a package of six. So again, quantity six. So most likely if you're on this page, you're probably a dealer or something of that nature.
So again, you're gonna get quantity six of the CURT TriFlex NEXT. And as you can see, you got your manual override button right there on the side. And then, of course, it is wired with a plug factory right out of the box. And then of course you're gonna get a package of six of the cable ties and the installation instructions and the cards about the products themselves and those kind of thing. Now these are gonna be a pretty fast, quick, clean installation as they mount flush.
They're about just one inch thick, and they're gonna fit nice and neatly right below the dash. And these will give you reliable power at any grade. So they have what's called a three-axis accelerometer in here. It's gonna adjust breaking uphill or downhill just the same without no issues. And again, with this automatic leveling and rocker switches, you're gonna simply tune that gain and load with ease.
And that's right up here on the front here with the buttons. Again, little rocker switches. So very easy to use. Again, if you're a dealer, obviously you're probably watching this. This is a great option to get six of these at a better price than just one.
And as well, they do display in a nice bright LED display to show those settings, error codes, and the trailer statuses. And as always, if you have any questions about this or any product, reach out to us here at etrailer. We're more than happy to assist you. I'm Steven. Thanks so much for watching, and have a great day.

Easy install with the right harness. The instructions were easy to follow, and the installation took about an hour. The mount for the controller was easy to position, and everything seems to work exactly as described so far.
Simple installation 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Total Installation took about 45 minutes and that’s with Installing wire loom to give it a clean look
It was as it said , plug and play, on my pickup anyway, you have to remove the plastic piece underneath the steering column and I was able to reach across to the back of plastic tray where the factory controller would be installed and unplugged the pigtail you need to connect to your controller
Great controller. Love the compact design and the plug and play wiring kit worked perfectly. Simple to use and easy to read. Really like the mount for it. Overall, best bang for the buck compared to other controllers.
The controller I received is the correct part number 51146, the part number I received for the harness is 51457 on the page for the controller the correct part number for the harness is 51458 this is what is listed on your page for a 2015 Ram 1500. When this issue is corrected I will update my review.
Thank you Harold
Simple and very easy to install on a 2026 Ram 1500. Lower drivers side kick panel. No tools needed. Remove and plug in. Two sided tape to the dash panel, 3 zip ties. Boom done.
Everything plugged in and fit perfectly. I haven't gotten a chance to use this while pulling a trailer you but the fit and finish is great. Very happy with the fast shipping and great price!
So what I found out is that the adapter plug that fits the 2026 Branco also fits my 2026 E450 cutaway (motor home).I imagine it fits all 2026 ford trucks, can't confirm nor verify but it would make sense. Plug for controller is behind stash/coin holder just left of steering wheel. I will try to upload some pics or maybe even a vid after I finish install.
This was the easiest trailer related installation I've done for my Passport. The only trick was routing all the excess adapter jumper wire behind the vehicle electronics, then looping it around to make connection with the controller. A snap-in adapter would be ideal.
Curt TriFlex NEXT Trailer Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional functions perfectly, install and setup was easy with included harness. Going to purchase another one for my other vehicle.
I got this for my 2016 GMC Canyon because it didn't come with an integrated brake controller even though my truck has the tow package. Because it had the tow package I had wires already set up for a brake controller all I had to do was splice an adapter into them. I bought the Curt Universal Splice in Adapter part #C51515 in addition to the Curt TriFlex NEXT Proportional Brake Controller part #C72YV. Everything works perfectly, I soldered the adapter to my trucks wires that I mentioned earlier instead of using butt connectors for a more secure and reliable connection then I also wrapped the wires coming out of the brake controller in electrical tape for additional protection and so they blend in with the interior of my truck better. Over all a very simple install and was able to be done in about 2 hours. 10/10 recommended
So far this has been a great brake controller. It was an easy plug and play with my Ram 1500. The custom harness fit well and the controller was up and running in no time. Installation was simple with two screws and the provided sticky tape. The display is bright but can be adjusted in brightness. Overall a good purchase.
The Curt TriFlex Next works perfect and was simple to install. The harness plugged right into the my trucks adaptor and I did not have to splice any wires. The included zip ties helped tuck away the wires and the double sided tape was all I needed to mount securely to my dash. The towing modes are simple to adjust and the controller works as advertised.
Awesome brake controller! Very compact with easy plug and play install. Great fit for my 2000 Ford F150 Lariat. I highly recommend it.
The only issue I ran into was the curvature of my Q8 interior and the slim mounting bracket. If you use the screws, the bracket pulls tight and you can’t slide the brake controller into it. I ended up drilling two countersunk holes in the center of the bracket, which gave me the clearance to adjust the controller knobs. Before you drill your location, think it through.
This mounts and works great. My truck 2007 1500 Classic 4x4 with trailer package does not have a plug and play harness. I had to cut the adapter and splice the wires. This is not the parts fault. It took an extra 10 min.
I had a bit of trouble interpreting the display. I finally determined that the instructions were not accurate. I even returned one unit because the display didn't match what the instruction manual said I should see. After installing the second unit, I finally realized that the instruction manual was not accurate. The controller works great. It's really smooth and applies the appropriate braking every time.
Plugged right into my 26 Ram 1500. Was able to utilize the double sided sticky it came with as my truck is leased. So far so good
Was easy to install on my 2019 ram 1500 did not use it yet going to use it this weekend
Nothing better than plug and play parts. Great customer service with follow up support. EZ comps too do business with.
The system resets after each brake pedal release. When you need it, it take 10-15 seconds to turn on, calibrate, and then start functioning. I purchased this for a 2001 F250 SD. Is the wiring harness the issue? It seems like it isn't getting power all the time, which could be the black wire not being hot all the time. I haven't checked this, but if that is the case, can I fix it myself or is their a new harness that would take care of this issue?
This controller is great when it’s working IE driving, controlling a trailer. But it never completely shuts off and if you don’t drive your truck or RV for a month you’ll find a dead battery. Ended wiring my starting battery to my house batteries so the solar keeps them alive but it’s still frustrating that it cost me a $250 battery.
Very happy!
Two days after I ordered it, it was in my hands and only took about 30 minutes to install.
And it doesn’t look hokey like some aftermarket parts.
I put it below the steering wheel on the right side, which leaves 4 to 5 inches from my calf… plenty of room.
Thanks
Etrailer put their name on it so it has to be good correct? Yep it it. Installed it in my 2022. The vehicle has the factory trailer wiring so connection was easy with the enclosed harness. Plugs is right underneath the steering column. Double sided 3M tape LETS you stick it wherever you want. The unit powered right up and the directions for operation are quite clear. Use the mode button to cycle through the functions and the plus minus button to increase or decrease settings
Great brake controller for the price. Very low Profile as well.
