When you’re hauling tools, camping gear, or anything valuable, you want it locked down tight. The RetraxPRO MX uses heavy-duty 1" thick aluminum slats that resist dents and impacts to keep your cargo safe. The pop-up locking handle lets you close and lock the cover anywhere along the rails, so you can leave part of the bed open for longer items while keeping smaller gear hidden and protected. Combined with a locked tailgate, it’s tough for anyone to get inside.
No fighting with straps or snaps here. The aluminum slats glide along sealed ball-bearing rollers, so the cover opens and closes evenly without binding or needing lubrication. There are no springs, joints, or hinges to freeze or wear out, and the spiral track system inside the canister keeps the cover from rubbing against itself. You can roll it open or closed with one hand, then latch it exactly where you want it.
Rain, snow, or dust—this cover keeps it all out. Weather stripping and foam seals along the bulkhead and side rails form a tight barrier against moisture and debris, while the overlapping top edge blocks water at the tailgate. A pair of drain tubes carry away any water that gets inside the canister, keeping the retracted cover dry and mildew-free. With its matte black finish that won’t fade or scratch easily, it holds up year after year.
When you need the whole bed, roll the cover into its canister at the bulkhead. The angled bottom design takes up less space, so you can still slide gear underneath. Whether you’re loading up large tools or bulky camping gear, you get full use of your bed without ever taking the cover off.
The side rails sit just 1" above the bed for a clean, flush look that blends right in. It’s a sturdy setup that supports up to 500 lbs of evenly distributed weight when closed, giving you strength and style in the same package. And with its no-drill, clamp-on installation, you can bolt it up securely without putting holes in your truck.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover in matte black. You can upgrade your old tonneau cover and not have to worry about any snapping or hook and loop connections. The RetraxPro MX Hard Tonneau Cover is the best way to cover up your truck bed. One of it's great features is, it can be locked anywhere along the rails you please. It's perfect for keeping your gear dry, covering up that fifth wheel head and you can even use it to secure your elongated cargo. The latch itself doubles as a handle. When you're ready to lock it, it sits flush within the cover and you can lock it up with the included keys.
When you've done that you can put the cover over top. The whole thing rolls up into the flush mounted box for a low profile design. It only takes up about 12 inches of space behind your cab. It's a simple clamp on installation and the rails only sit about an 1-1/4" high on top of our truck bed rails. Here on the inside they take up about 1-3/4". The sealed ball bearing rollers within the cover make opening and closing easy.
And because they're sealed, they're maintenance free. The whole thing is made out of an industrial strength aluminum, it's gonna keep out the elements and it can support distributed loads of up to 500 pounds. When used with the locking tailgate, it's furthers your security. The whole thing is UV protected and it features a limited lifetime warranty. After about a year owning this cover, I still would buy it again. If you set it up right in the first place, it will work flawlessly. The locking mechanism still works great. The rolling part still works great. Aside from a solid cover, this is the most secure cover I have ever had. It does get some drips of water inside after washing the truck but its not enough to worry about, even if you had a bed full of stuff.

So on the plus side, love how it opens all the way up. When were loading the bed for travel, I need it fully open. Downside is the amount of room the canister takes up and the water as previously mentioned. Still quite easy to use!
