Titan Chain Tire Chains - TC741DC

  • Tire Cables
  • On Road Only
  • Light Snow
  • Manual
  • Titan Chain
  • Square Link
  • Class S Compatible
  • Drive On and Connect

Get a smoother ride, better traction, and more stopping power during turns than you'd get with traditional, ladder-pattern cables. These low-profile, lightweight cables are great for driving in light snow. Tensioners are included for a tight fit.

Features:

  • Provides traction for your vehicle in light snow
    • Diagonal pattern offers steady traction during turns and a smoother ride than ladder patterns
  • Made for passenger vehicles with limited wheel-well clearance
    • Meets SAE Class S standards
    • Works with either front- or rear-wheel-drive vehicles
  • Provides alternative to heavy, bulky snow chains
    • Low-profile rollers wrap around wire cables for a smoother ride than thick chain links
    • Perfect for keeping in your trunk "just in case" when traveling through areas requiring chains on hand
  • Includes custom, rubber tensioners to help provide a tight fit
  • Constructed of alloy steel for durability and strength

Specs:

  • Fits: 16" - 20" tires (for exact sizes, see below)
  • Quantity: 2 cable chains
  • 30-Day limited warranty

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

If you've driven in bad winter weather, then there's no doubt you've experienced the unsettling feeling of your vehicle sliding during turns or bends in the road. Conquer turns and winding country roads with these cable chains from Titan Chain. The diagonal pattern provides better traction during turns than traditional ladder patterns, and because there is always a cable in contact with the ground, it will increase your stopping power too. You won't have to worry about finding the right tensioners either - tensioners designed specifically for these cables are included, ensuring a tight fit.

If you need a little extra traction in the snow, these cables are great. But if you live somewhere where you experience heavy snow often, you'll definitely want something more heavy duty than cables. Because these cable chains are lightweight and don't take up a lot of storage space, they are also perfect for keeping in your trunk if you occasionally travel through areas that require you to have chains on hand.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Cable Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground.

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Make connections behind the tire.

2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the rear cable.

Make connections in front of the tire.

3. Around front, slide the cable at the top of your tire through the corresponding eye hook. Repeat at the bottom of the tire.

Install rubber tensioners.

4. Pull the cable as tight as you can, then clip the included rubber adjuster onto the cable in a star pattern. Make sure the hooks on the adjuster face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Where to Mount Snow Chains on Dual Rear Wheels for a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500
Hey M, I checked the owner's manual for your 2016 Sprinter, and it looks like with models that have dual rear wheels you will have to mount the snow chains like the Konig Commercial Truck Tire Chains # TH01571245 on the outer wheels.

  • Tire Chains Recommendation for 2018 Toyota 4Runner Limited P245/60R20
For your tire size of 245/60R20 the Konig chains you mentioned are not a fit so we do not recommend them. Instead we have the Glacier set part # PWH2228SC which do fit. These are twist link chains that will give you great traction but will be a bit smoother than square link chains. You'll need to check your owner's manual to determine if there are any tire chain restrictions on your vehicle. If Class S compatible chains are required you'd need a set of cables like the Titan part # TC741DC.

  • Recommended Snow Chains for 2018 Ford F-150 with Size 265/60-18 Tires
The Class refers to the amount of clearance between a tire chain and any part of the vehicle they're on. Class S chains require the least amount of clearance and are often required on passenger vehicles. I looked at an owner's manual for your 2018 Ford F-150 and it does state to use Class S chains. It also states to install chains on the rear tires only and to not exceed 30 mph. For a Class S snow chain I recommend the Titan cables, part # TC741DC. They include the adjusters so you...

  • Snow Tire Chain Recommendation For 2017 Toyota 4Runner LIMITED With 245/60 20 Tires
According to your 2017 Toyota 4Runner owner's manual the links on your snow tire chain should not be larger than 5mm thick. If you decide to use snow tire chains that have thicker links, you do so at your own risk. Most of these snow tire chains will have the Class S designation. My snow chain recommendation is the Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit XXL - Size K78, part # KON84FR, because it is a Class S snow tire chain. These snow tire...

  • Should Snow Tire Chains be Installed on Front or Rear of 2015 Toyota 4Runner 4WD
According to pare 270 of the online version of the owner's manual for your 2015 Toyota 4Runner you should only install chains on the rear tires. I recommend checking your copy of the owner's manual to verify this. If you currently don't have tire chains then I recommend using Class S compatible chains as the manual also states that the link thickness shouldn't exceed 5mm. For a tire size of 245/60-20 the only option available (as of February 2019) are the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains...

  • Can Class S Tire Chains Be Used On a 2014 GMC Savana 2500 Cargo Van?
You will need to use a cable like the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC741DC on your 2014 GMC Savana 2500 Cargo Van according to your owners manual. We cannot make any recommendations that would oppose the manufacturers specifications. If you can get a GMC dealership to give you the okay to uses a set of Class S chains like the Konig # TH2004705255 then you will be able to use that. Both these fit the commonly used 245/75-16 tire on your Savana.
