AJ: What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out these Tightened Chain Twist Link chains on our 2012 Ram 1500. These are going to be great for getting in that snow and ice. And having a smooth ride. Because that's what the Twist Links do. They're not as aggressive as the other ones.
But they're still heavy duty enough to break into that ice. And get that traction you wouldn't be able to get without them. Let's check them out. These are a nice Twist Link. So they're going to be a nice and smoother ride than most other chains.
But you can see the thickness of them. They're still heavy duty. They're still going to punch into that ice. And get a grip in there we're some other chains can't. The chains are a ladder pattern style.
So you can see how they go across the tire like this. Getting its name the ladder pattern. And would be great for starts and stops. The whole chain is made out of zinc plated, low carbon steel. So it's going to hold up to those elements. You don't have any issues with the snow and ice.
Or even the road salt that you're driving through. They do come in a quantity of two. So if you want to put it on each tire of your vehicle. You're going to have to get two different bags of these. And you'll have a set of four. Also, they have a speed rating of 30 miles an hour. Which with that kind of snow and ice, which you need these for. You shouldn't be really going that fast anyway. So just stay under that and you'll be fine. That's what these are rated for.You see the tensioner here is not included. But we suggest buying one separately because it really pulls it together. If they're a little droopy it pulls them nice and tight across the tire. Now, gone over why you need them. How hard is it to use them I suggest trying to do this in your garage a few times before you go out in the snow. But let's check out how I got them installed. First thing we want to do is lay our chains out. Make sure there's no twist or breaks in the chain links. It looks pretty good. No brakes or tangles. We're going to go ahead and set it up on our tire.So we're going to grab it by the center here. Probably readjust my grip towards the back. So I can drape it over the tire. And adjust it as I go.Now with it adjusted. We want to jump on the back side of it and attach that. Now I'm going to take my open link here. Attach the hook. Now it's attached back here. I'm going to go back up front. We're going to take our latch. We're going to run through the second open link here. Because I think we need to get it just a little bit more tight. You can see I can push this back. It pulls this all up. And then I could bring this catch back. And the plate will slide in the gap there. Securing your chains. With the chains installed. You can see there's still a little bit of play in them. So you can come back with a rubber adjuster that's sold separately. And you can attach this to the chain to pull it to the center. And pull them a little bit tighter than what they are. Now you can see far less play in there. So they're going to be fine. Now you've got these installed. I would suggest driving forward and backwards a few times. Getting out and checking them to make sure it stays aligned. Stays towards the center. There's no issues. But it's on there pretty tight. We shouldn't have any issues. Thanks for hanging out. And I hope this out.
Great service. I can't believe they arrived that fast. Got home from work and put them on my woods truck(1995 ford ranger with 4in. Lift and 33s)drove it around the hayfield in 6 inches of snow. Did better than expected. Thanks
