    • Traction plates bust ice apart
  • Made for passenger vehicles with limited wheel-well clearance
    • Meets SAE Class S standards
    • Creates zero interference behind the wheel

  • Fits: 15" - 22" tires (for exact sizes, see below)
  • Lug nut/bolt size: 19 mm and 21 to 22 mm
  • Quantity: 2 chains
  • Internal clearance required: none
  • 5-Year warranty

Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

If you're looking for a way to get traction in the snow without scratching your rims, these K-Summit chains are your best option. The chain only sits on the tire tread and is fastened to one of the lug nuts on your wheel with an easy-to-use fixing key. There are no attachments behind the wheel like typical tire chains, which ensures that there is no interference with any suspension or braking components on the inside of the wheel well. You won't have to stop and readjust these chains either - they self-tension, self-center, and conform to the tire perfectly as you drive, providing a precise fit even on worn tires. These chains are ideal for use in light snow and ice.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you wont be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Tire Chains

Because these chains are customizable, the first fitting could take a little time but after that, it's simple. The included instructions will let you know if you need to adjust the chains based on your tire size.

Remove lug cover if present

1. To begin installation, you'll need access to your wheel's lug nuts. If you have a plate covering your lug nuts, pop it off using either the included Allen key or a flathead screwdriver.

Determine size of lug nuts

2. Determine which lug nut adapter you'll need to fit over the nut on your wheel. Attach that adapter to the included fixing key. The most commonly used adapters are included.

Lay chains over tire thread

3. Fit the chain over your wheel, getting it as far onto the tire as possible.

Tighten lug nut adapter

4. Using the fixing key, thread the included bolt into the adapter. The other end of the fixing key will attach to the K-Summit base, which includes the ratcheting mechanism that tensions the chains as you drive.

The adapter secures over your lug nut to hold the K-Summit base in place on your wheel. You might need to use the included spacer to get the chains to sit properly.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

by:

I would highly recommend this chain and company. The Konig chain is definitely a great quality chain and the company knows their product!

by:

Clever design. But, for the XXL there is no way to get the chains on without moving the tires a half turn. That was not clear in the directions.

by:

Fortunately have not had to use, fitted on vehicle when they arrived. Seems to be an excellent product

by:

Shipment was delayed and therefore unusable for my long holiday roadtrip. I paid ~$[XX] expedited shipping for no reason.

by:

As advertised... Read the instructions and put them on quickly and easily. Had to change the lug bolt fastener but that was a snap.

by:

Easy to adjust chain length to the right size by removing links.

by:

Great customer service. Functional but some difficulty keeping them on.

by:

Great product, just as described, fits perfect. Shipped immediately!! At my door next day. Great communication from ETrailer. Thanks!!

by:

Very good product although a little difficult to attach securely. They quickly made good on a warranty claim.

by:

Excellent product. Easy to install and uninstall in 10-15min. Great traction in snow and ice. Highly recommended. Customer service and delivery were perfect. Thanks.

by:

Tested it out on a new vehicle at home and it was a pretty straight forward fit. Just make sure you have the right lug nut attachment and spacers set up and the rest is easy.

More importantly, Adam at eTrailer was awesome. Helped me make sure what I needed (very last minute) for our vehicle and tires and was super friendly doing so.

Would definitely buy from Adam again!

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains for 235/60-18 Tires on a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300
The snow chains that I recommend for the 235/60-18 tires on your 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 are the XG12 Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH01594247 because they are easy-to-install, Class S chains with rim protection so that your new vehicle is protected from the chains while you still get the traction that you need. Konig is a premium tire chain brand and all of their products definitely reflect that. I did look at the online version of the owner's manual for your vehicle and...

Hey Trent, I have a couple options for your 2025 Subaru Forester with tire size 235/50-19. First we do have tire cables like your manual mentions can be used with the part # PW1042. These will work and get you around but they are generally a one-time-use type solution which the price reflects that. Now if you want something that would provide better traction and will last a really long time the best solution is the Konig K-Summit Chains part # TH02230K66. These do not wrap around the inner...

Hello Tom, For you 2018 BMW X3 with tire size 275/35 R21 you can use the Konig K-Summit Tire Chains # th02230k56. The # TH02230K66 that you were looking at are basically the same chains, just a little bigger than the # th02230k56. With your tire size, both will fit. Your BMW needs these kinds of chains because they are Class S compatible, meaning don't have the clearance behind the wheel to use the other chains you see on the street like # TC2335. The # th02230k56 are some of the easiest...

We only have one tire chain set that fits the tire size you have on your 2023 BMW X5 of 315/30-21 with the Konig K-Summit chains part # TH02230K66. These are a really effective snow chain but due to their very unique way of installing they do not require any inner sidewall clearance, install easily, provide rim protection, and provide great traction. What we normally recommend is to have you contact a BMW dealer in an area that has snow chain requirements and ask them what they recommend....

  • Low Clearance Tire Chain Recommendation for 2015 BWM X5 xDrive with Tire Size 315/35-20
I found the owners manual of your 2015 BMW X5 XDrive online and found that BMW only recommends you run tire chains on the rear wheels. They also recommend running low clearance chains. So for your tire size of 315/35-20 you'd need the Konig K-Summit chains part # TH02230K66 as these are only chains that will have the needed clearances since they do not drape over the inner sidewall of the tire at all. I attached an install video for these chains for you to check out as well.
