Well pleased with the pop & lock. It was easy to install and looks great on my 1993 Chevy 1500.
30 minutes to install. great so far. Only improvement I would make would be some kind of steel support that would sit be hind the gates plastic handle. Seems you can break the handle pretty easily. I know it stays locked if you break handle, but would be nice if it could save the handle in that situation.

Works flawlessly, I have one on my other truck aswell, survived winter well, just a shot of PB blaster and it's still like new, make sure the little flap closes fully when truck is covered in salt and you shouldn't have any issues like me.

First got the OEM product . Didn't work. Won't lock. etrailer was very good with exchange to PopnLock. Took 5 mins to install. Works well. Will recommend.
It’s going to work fine
I couldn’t get the screw to line up , I tried for 20 minutes or so thinking it was my new tailgate handle that was the problem but the bend in the pop lock was not quite 90 degrees after I tweaked it it lined up and went together first try.

Thanks for a great product. I appreciated the order process, it was very easy and fast. Delivery was timely. I had, already, viewed the installation video prior to receiving the lock. As promised, I was able to install the lock within 8 to 10 minutes. Very nice look and very effective in locking my tailgate. My truck with the camper shell is nicely secured, now.

I installed it in about a minute on a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. Works great and would recommend this product. There is no way to pull it off once it's locked in, you would have to take the access cover off the tailgate. The only thing you have to do after you install it is to take a flat head screwdriver to pick up the lock a little bit to get the tape off. I would recommend tweezers to peal it off.
My item arrived promptly as promised. The instructions made the installation a breeze. It functioned flawlessly. It was only 3 days from finding etrailer to the installation of my tailgate lock. I would definitely use etrailer again and would recommend it to my friends. Thanks for a job made easy.
I received the new lock faster than was expecting.The pop&lock was very easy to replace.Just popped out the old lock and popped in the new one .I had to take the handle off and take it inside because it is cold here.No problem very easy to take off. here is pic of the old and the new.
Hey Josh - thanks for the emails. You guys are great at etrailer - for my recent order and my past orders. I was alittle disappointed in the pop and lock. First the screw that came with it striped out- that was partly my fault. Also I had to shave down the locking piece behind the handle because it wouldn’t turn without hitting the tailgate handle and the key wouldn’t come out. I did finally get it to work. So at least I can lock my tailgate now. Thanks again Dan
This in tailgate add on is awesome!!!. It is my second one and you guys are the only vender in my area that carries it. None, none of the big parts stors carry popnlock, they didn't even know what I was talking about. I went on line ordered it and was a wiz to put in. The lock hasn't frozen on me and I live in Newengland. If your looking to secure your truck bed then this is the lock you need. No drilling or retrofitting un bolt and rebolt your handle back on. This is my 2005 dodge dakota.
First of all there were no instructions on how to install the pop&lock as advertised. I have tried the scan code and it does not work or a tablet or smart phone. The manufacture is hard to reach. I have left a detailed voice message. It would be helpful if the manufacture enclosed instructions on how to install this product. I cannot find anything on you tube. I may have to return this product if I do not hear back from the manufacture on how to install the product, I will have to send it back for a refund.
The product worked, but I had to put way too much time into installing it. Had to do a lot of fixing in order to assure the correct pieces were hitting the right spots.

You mentioned that it did not fit without having to modify it and I had a few questions that I wanted to you. Did your 1996 Ford Ranger have a steel factory tailgate handle. Would you be able to send a picture? Was it the truck handle that was broken? What modifications did you need to do?
Needed some hammering to get it to work right on my '99 Ranger. Not too hard to figure out, but instructions didn't help at all and were hard to find. Works great though,looks nice.
The Pop Lock is the perfect solution to locking your tailgate on a 90's Ford Ranger. Warning: to install, you will need a little bit of creativity. I had to grind down two points of contact that would stop the pop lock from working properly. You can easily do this with a file or grinder. I recommend installing it, testing it, seeing if you need to file down points of contact before fully putting everything back. Nevertheless, I couldn't be happier with this lock. Just remember that you might have to make some small adjustments for it to work and install properly. Once you do, you won't regret it.
Just had it installed. My regualr auto shop tried twice & failed. I looked up Pop and Lock's authorized installer (JR's Custom Auto in these parts), & it took less than an hour. It's feels sturdy & well-installed. Having lost my original Pop and Lock that I'd had for years, I'm once again able to lock my 95 Ford Ranger XLT's tailgate.

It was a very difficult installation. I had to grind down portions of my metal handle to get the pop lock to fit. Now, a year later after unlocking the handle, it takes much force to lift the handle. I keep thinking the handle is going to break. Maybe a potential buyer should purchase the pop lock with a matched handle.
