Features to know about

Built for Heavy Loads and Confident Towing: 3,640-lb Wheel Capacity

When you’re hauling boats, campers, or cargo, every pound matters. The Vesper Steel Modular Trailer Wheel is rated at 3,640 lbs and built on a 16" x 6" rim with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern. Its steel construction gives it the strength to handle serious weight without flexing or fatigue, and the 0 offset keeps the load centered for stable performance mile after mile.

Keeps Its Grip Under Torque: Improved Torque Retention Technology

Loose lug nuts are a headache you don’t need. This wheel uses automotive-rated Improved Torque Retention (ITR) technology with a raised center disc and beveled, uncoated stud holes for better clamp force. That design helps the wheel stay snug against the hub, so you spend less time checking torque and more time towing with confidence.

Close-up view of trailer wheel beveled stud holes highlighting improved torque retention technology for secure mounting.

Tough Against Corrosion and Road Wear: Acrylic Enamel Finish Over E-Coat Primer

Rust and chipping can ruin a wheel fast, but this one is built to fight back. The white acrylic enamel finish is applied over an e-coat primer and zinc phosphate pre-treatment for superior durability. It resists road debris damage better than powder coat finishes and has been proven in salt spray testing for more than 1,000 hours of protection.

White Vesper steel trailer wheel showing durable acrylic enamel finish over e-coat primer for corrosion resistance.

Ready for the Long Haul: Valve Stem Included and Rated for Up to 80–100 psi

This wheel comes with a valve stem already installed, ready to handle tires that run up to 80–100 psi depending on stem style. If you’re pairing it with heavy-duty tires that need even more pressure, it’s easy to swap in a metal stem rated over 100 psi. Either way, you get the flexibility to match your setup’s demands without extra hassle.

Reliable Fitment Every Time: Precision Specs for Easy Mounting

Built to SAE J1204 standards, the Vesper wheel has a 4.25" pilot diameter, accepts 1/2"-20 or 9/16"-18 wheel bolts, and holds true with zero offset. Those details make mounting straightforward and ensure proper balance once installed — exactly what you want when you’re setting up a trailer meant to go the distance.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Great service, good product and fair price. I have built many trailers this one looks very nice with the wheels I ordered.

by:

I WAS MORE THAN SATISFIED WITH THE WHEEL/RIM i haven't USED IT yet as it's a spare but it's mounted on the trailer and looks good!

by:

These two wheels look great and are exactly as shown on the etrailer.com website. They came very well protected. Each wheel came wrapped in protective wraps, each were packaged separately inside sturdy cardboard boxes, and the two boxes were shipped together inside one large sturdy cardboard box. Great care was used in the shipping process. The shipment shipped quickly and arrived on time. I highly recommend etrailer.com.

by:

Great fit, I'm ordering 2 more.

by:

looks like a good replacement for our trailer rim

by:

Fast and safe shipping as always

by:

I received my wheel with a dent .
Big
dent but small enough to keep pressure in the tire.
I was upset i didn’t open my package until a week after i received it so i thought if i complained they would have thought it was me who did that. Didn’t bother to complain.
Besides the big dent the rim has it’s been solid and hasn’t had any problems. I would give 5 stars if it wasn’t for the dent i received the wheel with.

by:

I have bought a dozen of these wheels over time, and they are very strong and nice looking. Well built to handle 14 ply tires.

by:

Rims packaged very good! Shipped super quick, that's a plus. Pricing is in line. Why'd I knock off two stars? I ordered 5 rims, they are all the same size but I got 2 different brands, with different valve stems. Now this probably wouldn't bother some people...it probably wouldn't have bothered me if I were putting them on a work trailer. But my enclosed trailer is pretty sweet and I'm a bit OCD with it. I needed to get tires back on to get it moved so shipping back was not an option unfortunately.

by:

This is a tremendous wheel! The 6" wide wheel is rated at 2835 lbs. Remember your rig is only as good as its weakest link, so a pair of these would be good for 5670 lbs. Overkill on a 3500lbs axle? Maybe, but definitely gives peace of mind, and the price is comparable. They even ship with the high pressure metal stems installed. The offset is neutral, so the difference from a 5" is only a half inch back spacing increase. Be sure to check your clearances from hub face to frame, but my Dexter 95" axle has plenty of clearance from the 80" frame. eTrailer has been the best vendor, period! I originally needed these wheels in April 2016 to replace the truck wheels I had, but the 5-on-5" wheels were not a carried item. Within days the team added them to their product line and had them shipped.
These newer Vesper wheels are even better than the originals from 2016. Thanks eTrailer team for another great experience!

by:

Nice quality wheels, good finish. Just what I needed. Paired these with the chrome center caps.

by:

Working great on our 7000 lb trailer r>axles

by:

Great looking wheels

by:

Rims look great and fit perfectly on the axle. Having the rims fitted with Goodyear Endurance 14 ply tires. These should last years on my old dump trailer

by:

Looks like a match for the other 5 wheels on our trailer. Haven't got it mounted yet, but don't expect any issues. The service from eTrailer was excellent! wheel arrived earlier than expected.

by:

Excellent products and fast shipping every time.

by:

Perfect match and fit for our 2002 Logan bumper pull horse trailer. Picture shows existing and new wheel (back wheel). New wheel has a classy thin red and blue stripe around the rim….Tire is 225x75R 15 E rated trailer tire.

by:

I have replaced all of my original trailer wheels with these vespers. They have a higher weight rating than the ones that came on my trailer and failed. I love this wheel. They are strong with a beautiful baked on powder coat!

by:

Exactly what I needed, and it came earlier than expected.

by:

I had initially purchased scratched rims to save a few dollars. When they went to ship them, they couldn't be located. etailer then honored their original price for damaged rims and applied it to new ones to complete my order. This alone will bring me back for years to come as I maintain a large fleet. Thank you!

by:

Nice upgrade from my original trailer wheels. It came with 14.5 diameter rims.

See what our Experts say about this Taskmaster Trailer Tires and Wheels

  • Is It Normal for Trailer Wheels to Bow Out At the Bottom
What you describe isn't normal. Trailer axles are manufactured with a bow or crown in them, a slight arc with the high side on the top of the axle. When the trailer is loaded, the axle will straighten out so the tires make even contact with the pavement. If the trailer is overloaded, the axle and spindles will bow the wrong way, causing the inside edge of the tire to have most of the contact with the pavement. It sounds like your trailer has been overloaded at some point which might have...

  • What Causes Trailer Tires to Fail/Tire Recommendation for Size ST225/75R15
Tire failure is usually caused by a few things. It can be from overloading the trailer, improper tire inflation, and/or exceeding the speed rating for the tire. You should verify that the tire capacity you have for you trailer is adequate for how much your trailer weighs. The pressure ran in the tires makes a big difference in longevity too. ST tires should be ran with the full pressure rating stated on the side of the tire, for full load capacity and longevity of the tire. If lower pressures...

  • Can Trailer with Downward Bow in Axle be Towed with Little Cargo Weight
You shouldn't have a problem with towing a trailer with less than 300 lbs of cargo weight unless the trailer isn't rated to tow very much and your cargo is overloading it. The thing that concerns me is when you say that the bow of the axle is downward. It should be bowing up so that when weight is added to your trailer the axle straightens out (see attached picture). You may be able to get home with the axle like that and very little cargo weight but I would look into changing it out before...

  • Measuring Bolt Pattern for Wheels on Military Trailer
We do have a large selection of trailer wheels that feature a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern, but not a 6 on 5 inch pattern like what you mentioned in your question. I recommend verifying this measurement on your existing trailer wheels. Since you have an even number of lugs, you will just want to measure center-to-center on lugs directly across from each other. I have attached a link that will take you to our available wheels that have a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. You can use the facets...

  • Valve Stem Ratting of the Taskmaster Steel Modular Trailer Wheel Part TA97VR
The valve stem that comes with the Taskmaster Steel Modular Trailer Wheel part # TA97VR is rated for 80 psi so you can mount the ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire part # LHCK401 to this and run it at full capacity without a different valve stem.

  • What Is the PSI Rating of the 16 Aluminum Lynx Trailer Wheel
The Aluminum Lynx Trailer Wheel part # 274-000038 does not have a psi rating as is the case for any wheel. The psi rating comes from the valve stem which for this setup would be 100 psi plus. If you are looking to upgrade the psi you can use the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem part # AM20906 exceeding psi is not really what would cause the wheel to crack. This would likely be from overloading or manufacturing defects. If you want to switch to a more durable steel wheel, I recommend...

The Taskmaster Steel Modular Trailer Wheel # TA97VR that you referenced has a valve stem that is rated for 80-110 psi.. If you needed a higher capacity you would just need to swap out the valve stem for one rated for 110 psi like the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long Item # AM20906.

  • What Is The PSI Rating Of The Taskmaster Steel Modular Trailer Wheel
The determining factor of how much PSI the Taskmaster Steel Modular Trailer Wheel # TA97VR will be the style of the valve stem. The Taskmaster Steel Wheel appears to have reinforcement between the rubber and the threads like # AM20904. That style of valve stem is rated for 80 to 100 PSI. If you need to run your tires at a higher PSI, you will need to use metal valve stems like # AM20906, which is rated for over 100 PSI.

  • Will a 16" Wheel Fit A Jayco 5th Wheel RSTS Trailer
In order to determine if you have space for a larger wheel/tire you need to measure the distance from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender and then from the inside of the tire to the outside of the frame. We recommend at least 3" on top and 1" inside so if the new larger size allows for this then you'll be good to go. The Karrier ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire part # AM10248 for example measures 30.9" diameter x 9.4". This would then pair great with the Taskmaster Steel Modular...
