Features to know about

Built to Fight Rust and Corrosion: Galvanized Steel Construction

Moisture and saltwater are tough on metal, but this wheel is tougher. The galvanized finish provides superior protection from rust and corrosion, making it ideal for long-term use in wet or humid conditions. Behind that finish is sturdy steel construction that meets Department of Transportation standards, so it’s built to handle real-world conditions without letting you down.

Confidence in Heavy Loads: 1,165-lb Capacity with 0 Offset

Hauling heavy gear or equipment means you need a wheel you can trust. This 8" x 7" steel rim is rated for up to 1,165 lbs and uses a true 0 offset for balanced load distribution. That even stance helps your trailer track straight and steady, whether you’re running short errands or making full-day hauls.

Reliable Fit Every Time: 5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern with 2.8" Pilot

Fitment confusion is eliminated with this straightforward design. The wheel uses the common 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern, a 2.8" pilot diameter, and standard 1/2"-20 bolt size. It mounts cleanly and seats firmly for a secure connection that stays tight mile after mile.

Solid Upgrade for Everyday Use: Steel Strength That Lasts

When it’s time to replace an old, worn wheel, this galvanized steel model makes an immediate difference in both performance and appearance. Its smooth finish holds up against road grime, while the durable build keeps your setup dependable season after season—all backed by a limited 1-year warranty.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Video Transcript for Checking Out the Steel Trailer Wheel

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this eight-inch-by-seven-inch, galvanized steel trailer wheel, with the five on, four-and-a half-inch bolt pattern. Now, this wheel's a sturdy steel construction, has a nice galvanized finish on it, which provides superior protection from rust and corrosion. The galvanized finish is normally used in marine applications. This is a high-quality wheel, does meet the DOT specifications.A few dimensions on this wheel.

The diameter again is eight inches, and diameter on a wheel is always measured inside-to-inside. So, if I get our ruler and if we go straight across inside-inside, there's your eight-inch diameter. The width will be the same way, bead seat to bead seat. So inside the inside, seven-inches wide. Bolt pattern on this wheel's a five on, four-and-a-half-inch bolt pattern.

Does use a wheel lug size of a half-inch by 20. And the pilot hole diameter, which is the large hole here in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer, is 2.8 inches. Weight capacity on this wheel is 1,165 pounds, but that should do it for the review on this eight-inch by seven-inch, galvanized steel trailer wheel with the five on, four-and-a-half-inch bolt pattern.

Bought 2 galvanized steel tire rims for my snowmobile trailer,am completely happy with them

by:

I recently ordered tires, went to put them on and the old rims were bad in a few spots. Called etrailers up to see about returning them and ordering rims/tires. I talked to Kayla, she helped price out options/ returns compared to just ordering the rims. Within a few minutes we agreed easier to just order the new rims. Im very pleased with all my experiences with etrailer, the customer service was awesome; definitely will keep ordering through them.

  • 8 Inch Trailer Wheel to Fit 18.5 x 8.5-8 Sized Tire on a 2,000 Pound Axle
I looked for a previous order from you but I wasn't able to find one. I think I can still help you though. Your 18.5 x 8.5-8 sized tires fit a 8 by 7 inch rim. And since you have brake drums on your 2,000 pound axles they're likely a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. We have 3 options that fit the criteria in different finishes: Galvanized, part # AM20028 White paint, part # AM20026 Silver paint, part # AM20027 If you can tell me why the rims you find don't fit over your hubs, or if for...

  • Fitment of Tire Size 16 x 6.5-8 on a 8-7 Inch Rim
I can help you find the right rim for your 16 X 6.5-8 tire. According to our tire chart your tire 16.5 x 6.5 - 8 tires, also known as tire size 165/65-8, will have a rim width of 5-3/8 inch, a load range of C and a max capacity of 800 lbs at 70 psi. The Americana # AM20018 you also looked at will be great fit for your tire. The Americana # AM20028 8 inch x 7 inch rim you mentioned will not be a fit for your tire. The 8-7 inch rim # AM20028 you were looking at will not be able to hold...

  • Will an 8 Inch Trailer Wheel Fit etrailer 3.5K Hub # AKIHUB-545-35-K
Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-K was designed to work with 13" to 17-1/2" wheels so it is not a good option for 8 inch trailer wheel # AM20028. We have a lot of hubs that fit 8 inch wheels and have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern but they use different bearings than # AKIHUB-545-35-K. If you can tell me the inner and outer bearing numbers of the hub you are replacing then I can figure out which hubs and compatible wheels will work for you. If you do not have the bearings available...

  • How to Determine Trailer Wheel Bolt Pattern
I attached a link that details how to determine bolt pattern on a wheel or hub to the right for you to check out. But based on the measurement you took it sounds like you most likely have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern since that is the most popular wheel bolt pattern. You can verify this by measuring from the center of one bolt hole to the one adjacent to it, if it measures 2-5/8 inches it's a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.

  • Looking For 4.80/4.00-8 Tires And Wheels
Hello John, thanks for getting in touch. We do offer the 4.80/4.00-8 trailer tires. For that I recommend the Kenda Loadstar K371 Bias Trailer Tire # AM10002. As far as the wheels, we have 8" wheels available in a 4 lug (4 on 4) and in a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. It sounds like you may be looking for a "wheelbarrow" style wheel which is not something we carry. We do trailer tires only. Any modern 8" wheel will have 4 or 5 lug holes and a center pilot hole. Here are the options we have: 4...

  • Backspacing of the Americana Steel Trailer Wheel
On a wheel like the part # AM20028 that has a zero offset it is easy to determine the backspacing. This rim is 7 inches wide so you would need to add 1 inch for the inboard and outboard flanges and then divide by two to determine the backspacing. So this rim has backspacing of 4 inches.
