I can help you find the right rim for your 16 X 6.5-8 tire.

According to our tire chart your tire 16.5 x 6.5 - 8 tires, also known as tire size 165/65-8, will have a rim width of 5-3/8 inch, a load range of C and a max capacity of 800 lbs at 70 psi. The Americana # AM20018 you also looked at will be great fit for your tire.

The Americana # AM20028 8 inch x 7 inch rim you mentioned will not be a fit for your tire. The 8-7 inch rim # AM20028 you were looking at will not be able to hold the tire properly.

It is important to note that you are limited to the lowest capacity of your setup and even though the # AM20018 rim has a weight capacity of 900lbs. the tire itself maxes out at 800lbs.

I have linked our Help Article on Tire Sizing for your convenience.

@Tim Would it physically go on, yes. But by using the 7" wide wheel instead of a 6" wheel will make the tire sit differently which in return could affect handling or wear of the tire over time.
