1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Today, we're gonna take a look at the Taskmaster Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire in a Load Range E, and it's mounted on this 16 inch Vesper white modular steel trailer wheel with the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this tire and wheel assembly, it is ideal for stock trailers, utility trailers, and even campers. What's unique on this assembly, this assembly is match-mounted and balanced to the wheel for ride comfort and durability. And match-mounting basically of tires and wheels is a process in which the tire's installed onto the wheel in a specifically selected spot to minimize final force of imbalance. And the method of match-mounting is they align the tire's lightest spot with the wheel's heaviest spot and eliminates most of the radial force that can cause tire and suspension wear, and then they do the final balancing, it's done by applying weights to specific spots on the front and the back of the wheel to eliminate any chance of uneven wear or vibration.
And just to show you the weight, you'll notice, don't have any on the front, but if you look on the back, you'll see one right here. So with this weight on there, that makes this assembly all balanced. Now, this is a steel wheel with a modular design, it's very sturdy and corrosion resistant. The wheel has a white acrylic enamel finish on it to resist chipping and other damage better than the powder coat finishes. The finish is applied after a zinc phosphate pre-treatment, and then it covers an E-coat primer layer, gives you an excellent corrosion resistance with a salt spray rating of more than 1,000 hours.
Few specs on the wheel, the diameter, it's measured 16 inches, the width on just the wheel is six inches wide. This wheel has a bolt pattern of 8 on 6 1/2 inches, and if you wanna measure that on a wheel like this that's an even number of lugs, in this case, 8, it's pretty easy, 'cause the lug holes you can see are directly across from each other, so you just pick one of the holes, measure from the center of that directly across to the center of the one right across from it, on this it'll measure 6 1/2 inches, so that means it's an eight lug, 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. This will use a wheel lug size, 1/2 inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18, and the weight capacity on just the wheel by itself is 3,750 pounds. If you noticed, this does not come with the center cap, if you do want one, we do sell those separately. You do wanna make sure to get one that'll match the pilot hole diameter here of 5.12 inches, and the reason is your center cap will install through this hole when it goes onto the wheel.
The tire on this is a radial tire, it is constructed with double steel belts, double polyester cords for a nice long life, it is great for highway use, and they do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation. The tire itself is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire, has the sturdy sidewall, so it can handle heavy loads, and it is created specifically for trailers, it's not intended for use on any other vehicles. Tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, ST for special trailer, 235/80R16, the R means radial. The section width on this tire, 9.3 inches, overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated is 30.8 inches. We mentioned it's a Load Range E, which means it's a 10-ply rated tire, so this does have a maximum load capacity of 3,520 pounds at 80 psi.
Another thing I do wanna add is the speed rating. All the new trailer tires are coming through with a speed rating stamped on them, and it's stamped on the sidewall with a letter designation, and where to find that is right after the size we just went over, you'll see two numbers for the load index, and then the letter M. Speed rating M means that it's an 81 mile per hour speed rating. Now, this does come with a two-year platinum plus warranty, which includes emergency tire change service and other benefits, and this assembly does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications, and it will exceed your Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. I love my new wheels and tires that I ordered from etrailer. I was told that the order wouldn't arrive for 4 to 5 business days so was totally surprised when the order showed up at my business the very next day. The wheels and tires on my trailer were the originals in 2002 when I bought my trailer. The wheels were rusted and even though the tires still had tread I knew that I was on borrowed time. I bought these to replace the 15" tires/wheels on my deck over trailer after having trouble finding 15" tires that could withstand modern highway speeds. I was not sure there was room for them, but they did fit and I've been very pleased with them.
I needed a spare tire for my trailer and I wanted the rims to match. I saw this and took a chance. Lo and behold they matched perfect. The tire is even better than the ones that came with the trailer. I also got the mounting bracket/carrier. The bolts that came with the bracket were way to long so I went and got some shorter grade 5 bolts and ta da looks good, works great.

The Taskmaster Provider ST205/75R 15 On Silver Mod - 5/5 is an excellent radial tire/wheel combo for the price! Purchased to use as a spare on my 8' x 12' foot flat bed/utility trailer. This purchased wheel matches my current wheels and once my current ST205/75D (biased) tires wear out, I plan to replace with the radial tire version purchased here via etrailer.com

I'm giving 2 stars because I ordered this tire and rim combo and when it arrived the tire was the correct brand but the rim was incorrect. The rim was supposed to be an ARC brand and powder coated. The rim that arrived was made by Maxion and it was acrylic enamel. etrailer took the tire and rim combo back after I explained the issue. Fast forward a few months I was shopping for the rim and tire combo shown above and it showed instock. I ordered it and when it arrived the same thing happened. What I received was not what was pictured. Again I was ordering the ARC rim and Provider tire and I received the Maxion rim and Provider tire. So I called again and it sounds like the person that received the return just put the tire and rim combo back on the shelf even though I explained in detail to the person on the phone it was mislabeled. I know etrailer has had the ARC rim and Provider tire combo because I've ordered one from them before. I give the customer service kudos for trying to help me but its too bad there was a communication break down between the person answering the phone and the person accepting the returns. The tire and rim pictured is correct to what I was trying to order. What I was trying to order was even in their video describing the product. The ARC rims has a little round gold sticker with the letters ARC.
Purchased this tire/wheel combo as a spare for my utility trailer. I was amazed at the speed of delivery and the perfect match to the wheels I currently have on the trailer. Very good tire/wheel combination package made it a convenient and timely purchase. Would like to have had the option to upgrade the valve stems to the 100psi metal version to possibly prevent UV from degrading the rubber stems after a few years. I would purchase again.
