You leave your trailer at a jobsite or campground, and it's sitting there with nothing stopping someone from backing up under the coupler with a hitch ball and taking it. It happens fast, and once it's gone, it's gone. This lock changes that. Slide it through the latch, lock it, and now there's a barrier in the way. The latch won't open, the coupler won't release, and your trailer is still sitting right where you left it.
You've got more than one trailer, but they may not all use the same size coupler. Instead of keeping track of different locks, this one fits the setups most trailers use. The 1/4" pin fits the latch holes used on standard couplers, and the 2-1/2" usable length lets it pass all the way through the latch. It works with 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" couplers, so all you need is this one lock, and it helps secure whatever trailer you're pulling.
If the lock stays on your coupler between trips, then it's going to be sitting out in the weather the whole time. Water can work its way into the cylinder, and that's when the internal parts start to corrode and the lock stops turning. This lock includes a rubber cap that covers the key slot to keep water and road spray out, and the lubricant inside keeps the pins moving if any moisture does get in, so you can unlock it without it sticking.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer. Today we're gonna take a look at this BulletProof Hitches quarter inch diameter trailer coupler latch lock. Now, a coupler that's popping loose on the highway, it's the last thing you're gonna wanna deal with when you're pulling a load. So, this quarter inch lock here is gonna keep your coupler latched to the hitch ball so that you can tow with one less thing on your mind. This will fit most common couplers. Works with a 1-7/8ths inch, two inch, and 2-5/16ths inch trailer coupler.
This one here is a universal quarter inch diameter pin right here. It will measure five inches overall length when it's locked end to end, and it'll provide two and a half inches of usable pin length right in here for a broad compatibility. It is made of a corrosion resistant stainless steel construction. If you notice on this end right here, it has this attached rubber cap. And if you notice when you install that, it'll block any moisture, dirt, or debris from getting into your lock core.
Now, this is a simple push-to-lock design. Basically all you have to do is slide the pin in and then press the lock on until it clicks. I did want to show you that. So right now, if we just unlock it, if you take the key out, you can see once you slide that through the hole on the latch, line it up, push it in, you hear it click and it locks. You don't have to do any twisting.
It'll lock automatically. You'll notice it does include two keys, gives you a spare key included for backup or shared access. So basically, after you lower the coupler onto the hitch ball, fully engage the latch, and this lock, as we mentioned, will slide through the latch mechanism to prevent it from lifting. Then you press that locking cylinder on until you feel it click, and the coupler stays secured in place. When you're ready to unhook, just remove the cap, take your key, line it up, and just twist it, and it removes just like that, the pin releases.
The lock is penetrated with aircraft grade lubricant for long-term use. And just put it on there, pop it into place, and you're locked, ready to go.
