Optronics OptiBrite LED TLL48 Series Work Light Diagram

Raw Lumens vs. Effective Lumens

Lumens are used to measure the amount of usable light that is put out by a light source. Raw lumens represent the number of lumens that the manufacturer claims the LEDs are capable of producing. It does not include the light's drive method or the amount of light lost from the lens or reflector. Effective lumens take these factors into account and represent the number of lumens that are actually produced by the complete light assembly, not just the amount of light that the diodes are capable of producing. This light has a 1,200 raw lumen capacity and produces 617 effective lumens.

I have used both the aluminum model and the plastic housing models on our work trailers . I prefer the plastic housing light due to the rough roads. The lighter weigh light causes less stress on the mounting points. Good product and etrailer is good on communicating with customers.

Installed the lights and they work very good. They arrived quickly also. I have ordered other items in the past, all good products and good service.

by:

Excellent replacement light for my trailer. Had to upgrade lights on my 16 year old horse trailer. Chose LED and am greatly pleased with this light. Has stood the test of time.

by:

The best light to use when it's dark! I used these lights on my off-road camping trailer and they work! It was dark at night and this can be a real problem, so I installed these lights and I could see at night. Super great price for an inexpensive solution. The mounts are real simple with a nut and bolt for the up and down and a carriage bolt and nut for mounting. Easy!

etrailer had everything I was looking for. Their easy search lists are great for looking for specific items. I found trim for my pop up camper door that I have been searching for every where. All ordered items were exactly what I need. Service was very helpful in finding the correct items. Delivery was fast.
Thanks

Could be a tad brighter, but have it on a remote switch on the back of my cargo trailer from my truck and aids in backup and lighting when loading my trailer at night. Great product!

by:

Awesome light with a nice field of illumination. Fast promt service. I have been happy with all the products i have bought from etrailer.

by:

Good quality, very bright

by:

I bought the earlier version of this light several years ago to replace an incandescent work light on our horse trailer. It worked brilliantly until I pressure washed it. (Note to self: Don't pressure wash the work light!) I purchased the Opti-Brite LED Work light to replace the one I drowned. This one also works brilliantly! It has an improved mount as well as being even easier to install. I highly recommend it!

by:

I purchased the lights to replace the headlights on our forklift because I was tired of replacing bulbs every couple of weeks, but once they were on we realized how much better the LED lights are. They light up the whole area in front of the lift and no more replacing bulbs. Great product at a great price.

by:

Good product, very bright with low amperage. Bought these for my horse trailer to replace my prep area and ramp load area lights.

Install is easy but on horse trailers where just the thin steel sheet is used, the square backing of the bolt protrudes through the bracket and won't tighten fully, leaving some wobble and play that is not acceptable for horse trailer exterior. a thick lag bolt washer did the trick.

Also, for an 'area' light, this is not the most ideal. it's extremely bright but a tighter beam than i would have liked. Meaning, mounted 8 feet off the ground, there is a very tight 5 feet long by 2 or 3 feet wide strip of really bright, around the saddle on our horse. i was expecting something like a 7 x 5 or more given the shape of the light. picked based on lumens, but beam angle was not presented. would be good info.

Overall 4 stars, really just because of the narrow beam.

by:

I've been using this light on the back of my enclosed trailer. I just couldn't see behind me at night. This light is amazing for lighting up behind the trailer, all from one light. Definitely recommend!

by:

Put on UTV Lights up ok.

by:

I ordered two of these for headlights on a 36 volt electric golf cart. These things are brighter than a lot of car headlights and have great range. If i ever need anymore for back up lights or work lights on my truck i will be ordering these. I have been using them for over a year and they still work great. I have been ordering from etrailer for about 5 years now and let me tell you there is no better company or staff to deal with.

by:

Very easy to install. Replaced on one side of the back of my horse trailer. Exc coverage of the area for loading horses etc . Thinking of replacing the other side. Not sure I’ll need to now.

by:

If you have a CB radio, DO NOT GET THIS PRODUCT. I would recommend 09-0205. It is cheeper and has no interference with the CB radio. Yes the led is brighter but you can not drive with them on and 09-0205 has a light cover that is able to block quiet a bit of the light. It is still bright with the cover on.

by:

Excellent light but discovered a problem with my wiring to the switch. Those wires are easily accessible.
I had to splice it into the interior light wire and install switch inside trailer.

by:

I replaced a halogen external light fixture on my horse trailer with this model LED light fixture several months ago. It is brighter, instant on and lower energy usage which are all positives especially for the battery when the trailer is disconnected. I ordered 2 more to replace the other external halogen light fixtures on my horse trailer. Good lighting is especially important when you need to access your trailer with your horse after sundown. Also easy to install.

by:

The opti brite led work light seems to be plenty bright and well built. The 10" pigtail wire is a joke. You're going to have to connect another wire to it to get it wired up anywhere on a tractor which adds another connection and possible failure. I can't see that 3-5 feet of wire would put the company out of business. Other than that it seems to be a very good work light.

by:

I installed these on the back of my boat trailer and hooked them up to my reverse lights for launching my boat in the dark. I wanted an extremely bright flood so I could see both sides and the down the center. Just wonderfully bright and dependable a year later as when new.

It's a good led work light, wish you would keep more on hand so it doesn't b/o every time I order

I already owned this particular brand of LED light so I pretty much knew what I was getting. In my usage they have been better than average. No problems to speak of. I use them on all of our trucks.

  • Can I Ground the Opti-Brite LED Work Light to a Trailer's Ground Wire?
Yes, you can Jim. You'll definitely need to use your trailer's ground wire if you have an aluminum framed trailer. The Opti-Brite LED Work Light item # TLL48FB you were looking at can also be ground directly to the trailer's frame if it's steel. These lights measure 4-1/8" wide x 6-3/8" tall x 2-1/8" deep and have an output of 617 lumens. What's your trailer's frame made of?

  • Wiring in an LED Work Light and Switch to a Trailers Running Light Circuit
You could certainly use Opti-Brite LED work light # TLL48FB on your horse trailer and put it on a switch but having it wired into the running light circuit could have some unintended issues. Specifically, if you forgot to turn the switch off and drove away with the light still on you would blind driver's behind you! If the trailer has a battery I recommend wiring the light to it directly via a switch. But if you want to go ahead and wire it in line with the running lights then all you...

  • Reverse or Utility Lights to See When Backing Up Cargo Trailer
If your trailer has a 7-Way connector and the vehicle side has the center pin active when the vehicle is in reverse then you can install backup lights on the trailer and wire them to the center pin. You can use 2 of backup light # BUL12CB 2 of grommet # a70gb 2 of bracket # BK70BB And 2 of pigtail # A49PB If you do not have a 7-Way but just a 4-Way instead you could wire a utility light such as # TLL48FB in with the running light wire on the trailer and have the utility light run on a...

  • Recommendation for Utility/Work Lights Installed in Toolbox to Light Rear of Truck
I have several lighting options for you, but a trailer reverse light, like # BUL52CB that you mentioned, is not going to provide you with the light you are looking for. To provide you with light at least 8 feet away, I recommend going with a utility/work light. For mounting flush inside the toolbox as you mentioned, the best option will be the Vision X LED Light Strip # XIL-SL12. This light has an effective lumen output of 300 lumens and is 12 inches long x 1 inch wide x 1/2 inch deep....

  • Recommended 12-Volt Powered Light and Cord for Trailer During Loading and Unloading
I can help you pick out a work light for loading/unloading and help you wire it up to use in a 12-volt outlet. First, I would instead recommend the # TLL48FB Opti-Brite LED Work Light from Optronics instead of the light # TLL50FB you were looking at. This light is much brighter and has a better spread with 1,200 raw lumens of light compared to the 324 raw lumens of light produced by the # TLL50FB. I have linked two images of us testing the two lights at night outside, and you will be...

  • Interior LED Lights for a 7 x 22 Foot Area in an Enclosed Horse Trailer
Six of the RV LED interior light # ILL31CB should provide adequate light for your trailer. More so than the incandescent bulbs in # 30-76-243. What I recommend though is to go with the LED 24 diode light # ILL24CB. The additional diodes will provide even more light than the 10 diodes in the light you referenced. I have linked a video review for you. The other option is to go with an LED flood light like # TLL48FB which has a 1200 lumen rating which would be like a vehicles headlights...

  • Can The Optronics Opti-Brite LED Work Light TLL48FB Be Run Off The 12v Power On A 7 Way Plug
With the Opti-Brite LED Work Light - Flood Beam - 617 Lumens # TLL48FB having only a 1.52 amp draw, there will be absolutely no issue running these off the power provided from a 7 Way plug. We have actually had people wire these directly to reverse light circuits on their trailer to illuminate a wide area behind them, making backing up a lot easier.

  • Is Fuse Protection Needed When Installing Opti Brite LED # TLL48FB As Trailer Reverse Light
You don't even really need a fuse to wire up two of the Opti-Brite LED Work Light # TLL48FB as reverse lights. The draw of these is so small at 1.52 inches you aren't going to have to worry about overdrawing the circuit either. Just mount the lights where you want them, ground the white wire, and then run like a 14 gauge wire to the black wire of the assembly from the center pin of your 7-way and you'd be good.
