Video Transcript for Review of Lippert Trailer Hubs and Drums - Pre Greased Trailer Hub Drum 3500lb Axle - LC89ZP

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Lippert pre-grease trailer hub and drum assembly for your 3,500-pound trailer axle. Now this hub and drum assembly is gonna be a ready-to-install replacement for one wheel on a compatible 3,500-pound trailer axle. So instead of buying a bare hub and then installing and packing all of the individual components yourself, the bearings come pre-greased. The races are already pressed in, and the grease seal is gonna be already in place as well.

This also includes the lug nuts. As you can see, I have them on the wheel bolts here, and then an easy-lube dust cap. And so this is going to make this very convenient to get this installed. There's gonna be less prep work involved when replacing a worn or damaged hub and drum with this. So this is specifically a hub with an integrated 10-inch brake drum.

So this is intended for trailers with drum brakes rather than an idler setup. And this can work with compatible electric or hydraulic drum brake systems. This is gonna fit 13-inch through 15-inch wheels and it uses half-inch wheel bolts. And this has a five-on-five-inch bolt pattern. The hub itself is cast iron, (metal clanging) and then the wheel bolts are zinc-plated.

Now fit is probably the most important thing to understand before picking this up. This is rated again for a 3,500-pound axle, but by itself that's not gonna be enough information to assume that this is going to fit. And as you can see on your screen, I do have the bearing, races, and grease seal information there for you. Again, the bearings, inner and outer, and the races, inner and outer, are already included. They're already installed and pre-greased.

And then those specifications along with this five-on-five-inch bolt pattern and 10-inch brake size are gonna be the main things to compare with the existing trailer setup. It's also worth paying attention to that this is a five-on-five-inch bolt pattern. A lot of similar 3,500-pound hub and drum assemblies use a 5-on-4-1/2-inch pattern. And many of our neighbors tell us that that's something that they make sure to measure before picking this up. So just because your trailer has a 3,500-pound axle doesn't automatically mean this particular five-on-five-inch version is correct.
