Features to know about

Skip the Mess and Get Rolling Fast: Pre-Greased Hub Assembly

No need to pack bearings or deal with a greasy cleanup. This CE Smith idler hub comes pre-greased and ready to go, so you can slide it onto your spindle and be back on the road in minutes. It’s built for 3,500-lb axles with #84 spindles and includes everything you need—inner bearing (L68149), outer bearing (L44649), both races, grease seal, grease cap, lug nuts, and cotter pin. Each hub carries 1,750 lbs, giving you a strong and dependable setup that’s quick to install.

Built for Real-World Durability: Iron Construction with Zinc-Plated Hardware

You can count on this hub to stand up to the elements. The sturdy iron body handles everyday hauling with confidence, while zinc-plated lug nuts, cotter pin, and grease cap help hold back rust and corrosion—especially handy around water or in humid conditions. It’s a solid piece of gear that keeps things turning smooth season after season.

Perfect Fit for Smooth Rolling: Correct Bearings and Seal Sizes

Finding the right fit doesn’t have to be a guessing game. This hub uses the common #L68149 inner bearing ("1.378" inner diameter) and #L44649 outer bearing ("1.063" inner diameter) found on most 3,500-lb axles. The included grease seal (#58846) has a "1.719" inner diameter and "2.565" outer diameter, giving a snug seal that keeps grease where it belongs. Match your spindle dimensions to these numbers and you’re set for an easy swap.

Hassle-Free Brake-Free Setup: Idler Hub for 14-1/2" to 16" Wheels

If you’re running an idler axle setup without brakes, this hub keeps things simple and reliable. It fits wheels from "14-1/2"" to "16"" with a "6 on 5-1/2"" bolt pattern and a "7"" flange diameter. Whether you’re replacing old hardware or building out a fresh trailer setup, it’s designed for straightforward use and long service life without extra complexity.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

  • 5x4.5 to 6x5.5 Hub Conversion on Trailer
CE Smith # CE13611 works for your application. Double check the bearing numbers on your stock hubs before ordering, but for 3,500 pound axles there is usually one size of spindles. If your current hubs have an L68149 inner/L44649 outer bearing, the # CE13611 is the correct replacement.

  • Can a Carry-On Trailer Be Converted From 5x4.5 Hubs to 6x5.5 Hubs
From what I could find, it looks like your trailer likely has a 3,500 lb. axle. If that is the case, you more than likely can use the CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles # CE13611. But to be completely sure before ordering, you can check your current bearing numbers. If you have a L68149 inner bearing and L44649 outer bearing, then the hubs will work. You will also want to make sure you have room in the wheel well for a larger tire/wheel and you will want to be cautious...

  • Replacement Trailer Hub Assembly That Uses Bearing Sizes 15123, and 25580
The CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # CE13611 will not fit your trailer with the hub bearings 15123 and 25580. Your hub bearings are most commonly found in 6,000lb axles and will require one of the following hubs. etrailer Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-655-6-EZ-K for an EZ Lube axle etrailer Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-655-6-K for a standard spindle Both of these hub assembly's will include new inner and outer bearings and races, lug nuts, grease caps, and a 2.25"...

  • Replacement Hub for Restoring Older Trailer
Yes, it is probably safe to assume that a hub using the same bearings will fit the spindle on your trailer. I'm not sure what "older" is so you may also want to measure the spindle to find the inner diameter of the grease seal. Or if there is a part number on the old one that could be used to identify it. The other thing you want to do is match the bolt pattern. If you were looking at using the CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # CE13611...

  • Info Needed to Install 6 Lug Bolt Pattern Hub on 2022 Aluma 7712HSLR
All we need to know is the axle capacity to see if we have a hub with the bolt pattern you need. Or if you can get me the diameter of the spindle where the bearings and seal rides that would be good too. Axle diameter can be used too. If it's 2-3/8 inch it's a 3,500 lb axle and the # CE13611 would fit and has correct bolt pattern. If it's 3 inch and between 5,200 and 7k the part # 8-213-5UC1-EZ would fit and be correct bolt pattern.

  • Will CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly Fit Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System
The CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # CE13611 will fit any of the Timbren Axle-Less systems as long as they use the same # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearing combination. This combination is typically found on 3,500 lb axles. This means they will fit the # ASR1THDS02 you were looking at, but not the # ASR35HDS02 or the # TASR5200S03. All of the 2,200 lb systems use this bearing combination, and any of the 3,500 lb systems that are not the heavy-duty model. I have attached a link...
