Features to know about

Heavy Loads, Smooth Stops: 12,500-lb Hydraulic Drum Brake Power

This actuator is built for serious work trailers that need dependable stopping force. With a 12,500-lb capacity and 1,250-lb maximum tongue weight, it handles heavy-duty loads with confidence. The hydraulic design automatically activates your drum brakes when your tow vehicle slows down—no brake controller required. It’s the straightforward, mechanical solution that lets you tow without extra electronics.

Built to Last: Weld-On Steel Construction with Primed Finish

Durable steel construction gives this actuator the strength to resist bending, even when backing or jackknifing. It’s ready to weld onto a 3" wide channel tongue, so you can mount it exactly how you want it. The primed finish comes ready for paint, making it easy to match your trailer or add protective coatings before hitting the road.

Smoother Travel: Built-In Rollers for Easy Movement

Inside the actuator, built-in rollers help the inner slide move straight and smooth under pressure. That means less resistance and steadier motion when braking or starting up again. The result is more consistent braking and less stress on both your trailer and your tow connection.

Ready for Customization: Bring Your Own Coupler and Get to Work

This weld-on actuator gives you flexibility to set it up your way. Since the coupler is sold separately, you can choose the style that fits your setup best—whether for a farm trailer or a construction trailer. It even includes a breakaway kit for added safety if the trailer ever separates from the hitch, so you can weld it, paint it, hook it up, and get back to work.

Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Dexter Brake Actuator

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Titan Weld On Drum Brake Actuator with a 12,500 pound weight capacity. Now this hydraulic actuator will synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow-vehicle brakes. Basically what happens is when you apply the brakes in your tow-vehicle deceleration occurs, and the momentum will push your trailer toward the route of your vehicle, so with surge brake systems the actuator's triggered as your trailer moves forward once your tow vehicle start to slow down. When this happens, the actuator here will contract, and it applies force to the master cylinder that's on the inside here, and this in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer brakes. This is a unique roller design, reduces resistance during the telescoping to create straight-line movement. You can see it has a grease zerk fitting on the end of the roller, makes for easy lubrication. This is a sturdy, durable steel construction.

Resists bending in any jackknife situations. Now, the coupler that installs right to here, that is sold separately. It does include this breakaway kit. You can see this long chain, if I unravel it, hooked to this lever here, so this you'll hook to your tow vehicle, and in an emergency situation where the trailer could become disconnected, it'll automatically pull that lever and lock up the brakes in your trailer. This does have a nice primed finish to it. It is a weld-on installation.

Specs on this again, the application is for hydraulic drum brakes. The mounting on this, the coupler you use would have a 3" wide channel tongue that the coupler would slide into. Capacity on this is 12,500 pounds. Maximum tongue weight capacity is 1,250 pounds, and one last note I do want to mention, is because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout here on the rear, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer brakes. That should do it for the review on the Titan Weld On Drum Brake Actuator with a 12,500 weight capacity.
