Bolster brackets are typically mounted upright on a boat trailer's crossmembers. When used with a swivel bracket (sold separately), they allow a mounted bunk board, which is run from the front of the trailer to the back, to pivot while you are loading a boat. On kayak trailers, these brackets are mounted to the trailer's frame and support bunk boards that run across the trailer.
Aluminum offers excellent, long-term defense against rust and corrosion, making it great for saltwater applications. It is naturally rustproof, unlike steel, which must be treated with a rust-resistant coating that can break down over time.

Today we're taking a look at the CE Smith Bolster Bracket. This bolster bracket lets you attach a swivel bracket for mounting a bunk board on your boat trailer. Two brackets are required per bunk board, an additional bracket is sold separately. The unit features the dimpled surface which helps prevent the bracket from sliding along the trailer frame and in the mounting slots per med as much as two and three quarter inches of height adjustment during the installation.The bracket installs vertically on your boat trailers' frame with a U-bolt, which is not included. It's a lightweight aluminum construction, it's rustproof and corrosion resistant, makes it great for fresh water and saltwater use. Edge to edge on this direction, it's eight inches. Overall width is two and a half inches. The mounting slots, each one measures two and three quarter inches long by a half inch wide. Then there's a half inch gap between the mounting slots. The diameter of this hole right here, this is a swivel bracket mounting hole, that's a half inch diameter as well.
And then the measurement that we have inside edge to inside edge gives us a measurement of about two and one quarter inches.That's gonna do it for today's look at the CE Smith Bolster Bracket.

Took 2 weeks to receive parts that I needed to repair trailer to get my boat out of the water to do repairs. Lost 2 weeks of short summer here in New England . When I called to report issue no remedy was offered to help the situation other than I have two weeks to file complaint. Poor customer service as far as I’m concerned. I realize that shipping is out of etrailers hands once it leaves the store, but no offer was made to help my situation. Probably won’t use them again.
I purchased a spare tire carrier/bracket this past Spring and although it arrived promptly, I delayed mounting it on the boat trailer because the boat had already been put in the water for the summer sailing season. I couldn't position the bracket on the trailer properly until the boat was taken out of the water for the season and put on the trailer. With the hull in place, I could now position the spare tire bracket so the tire cleared all the trailer structure and the boat itself. For this reason, I took awhile to provide this review since the bracket only sat in it's shipping box for the summer season. The bracket itself is well made, but would have been nicer if it came galvanized, or at least painted. Before installation, I took the time to prime and paint it to match the white color of the trailer and prevent surface rust. It was easy to mount and securely held the spare tire in place. I was able to find a mounting position far enough aft on the trailer so as not to increase tongue weight substantially. I would say this is a fair bracket for the price. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for it to be either galvanized, painted, or both.
Well I can't believe it's really been a year since I purchased all the parts from Etrailer to rebuild my jon boat trailer. I bought this tilt trailer on craigslist and well let's just say needed some MAJOR TLC. From the roller brackets, fenders, tires/wheels, hitch coupler, winch, etc.. All the parts have held up extremely well and I am VERY happy with not only the quality of the parts but the customer service as well. This is my "GOTO" place to buy parts for all 3 of my trailers!!
The old brackets have fatigued and I will reinforce these new ones before installation. My boat may be a tad heavy for these brackets. I am very pleased with the price , availability, and quick delivery of these products. I have used E-Trailer before and have experienced good products and delivery.

I borrowed the idea to use this trailer bracket to mount bunks for a pontoon boat on a usedboat lift I recently purchased. They work just fine, and were less expensive than OEM pontoon system for the lift.
I ordered Bolster Bracket (EC10100G) with Swivel Bracket (CE10201G). These 2 items work great together and are good quality and made of heavy metal. The trick to mounting the 2x4 boards: 1 mount the Bolster Brackets Loose as close to the height you need, 2 mount the Swivel Bracket loose so it can lay sideways then you can mount the 2x4 easily, then tighten the Swivel Brackets to the angle that is need for your boat.
