Your solar panel collects the sunlight, but without the right controller that energy won't charge your battery. The OptiMate Solar DUO manages power from 10W to 60W panels, automatically charging and monitoring your 12V lead-acid or LFP battery.
Solar panels do not deliver a steady charge all day, so the battery needs a controller that can manage changing input. This unit takes power from 10W to 60W solar panels and runs a multi-step charge program that brings the battery up safely and then maintains it without overcharging.
When the panel is producing power, the controller sends that power to the battery. When solar input stops, it switches to monitor mode and shows battery status on the LED panel every 3 seconds. That gives you a quick read on battery condition without extra tools.
This controller supports 12V lead-acid batteries, including STD, AGM, and GEL, along with 12.8V and 13.2V 4-cell lithium LiFePO4 batteries. It can begin charging batteries as low as 4V and is designed for lead-acid battery capacities from 2Ah to 240Ah. It is compatible only with 4-cell lithium batteries.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer. Today we're gonna take a look at the Optimate Solar Duo Five Amp Smart Charge Controller. Now your solar panels are gonna collect the sunlight, but without the right controller, that energy won't change or charge your battery. But here's where this will come into play. This is the Optimate Solar Duo, which will manager your power from a 10 watt up to a 60 watt panel.
It'll automatically charge and monitor your 12-volt lead acid or LFP batteries. It does include all the parts laid out here on the table. We'll start with the controller. Again, we mentioned this is a solar duo controller, has a 42-inch long cord, has the two pin SAE connectors on both ends. Also comes with this SAE polarity converter for a flexible installation.
This will come into play if you happen to have a solar panel that the cord coming out of it is at the opposite polarity. So you wanna convert it to the correct polarity to input here, you can use this polarity converter for that. And then when you connect to your battery, it gives you two different options here. If you want a quick connect option, it's the battery clamp connector. It has a 16-inch long cord.
Again, plug this into the SAE connector, and then just clamp these to your positive and negative post on your battery. Easy to install, easy to remove. If you want a more permanent connection, we have this one here. This is the permanent eyelet connector. It has a 20-inch long cord.
Same way, plug into the SAE connector, and then attach the eyelets to your battery. Now, solar charging should not require constant checking. This charger will automatically adjust the charge output based on your battery type and condition. Uses a multi-step program, which will bring the battery to full charge and then maintain it daily without overcharging. Basically, when your solar panel stops producing power, this controller switches to monitor the mode and it'll display the battery charge level on the LED panel every three seconds. This charger does support 12-volt lead-acid batteries, including Standard, AGM, and GEL along with the lithium LiFePO4 and LFP batteries. Now, it's suitable for lead-acid batteries from two amp hours to 240 amp hours, and the LFP batteries within supported voltage range. One note I do wanna mention it is compatible only with the four-cell Lithium Ferrous Phosphate batteries. (Jeff coughs) It does also convert low solar energy into efficient pulse charging and includes full electronic protection, spark suppression, and automatic shutdown if it's short circuited or disconnected. Now if you do have any other additional questions regarding this part or any other item we carry, please feel free to reach out to us so it can help you get all of your questions answered for you. But that is gonna do it for a look at this OptiMate Solar Duo Five Amp Smart Charge Controller.
