Zach: Hey everybody, Zach here at Etrailer.com. Today we're looking at a winch replacement strap from Dutton-Lanson, this is going to be a really nice way to replace an old, worn out or damaged strap. This is intended to help get your boat back on your trailer at the ramp, but also to keep it secured when you use it with all your other straps for your trailer. Now, this is going to be a direct replacement for Dutton-Lanson winches, but you can see here, I have it on a Fulton winch, so as long as it fits that two inch diameter in there, this is going to be ideal for swapping out, regardless of those brands. Now, if you're looking for a strap of different sizes, this one is going to come in a 12 or 15-foot like I have here today, but also a 20 foot. Can see the two inch wide strap there, it's constructed of pretty good material, it feels a lot like a seatbelt. It's going to be right in line with that standard winch strap that most are going to come with. And down here at this hook here where our bow eye is connected, it's just going to be a standard hook, there's nothing fancy about it.
I do feel like the gate on that is a little stiff, so if you don't have a lot of room to work down there, it might be a little tough, but it's not too difficult. Then the strap has doubled- back on itself, has good stitching there, so this is going to be really good quality there. I'll get that put back in place. Now, when it comes to the links of the 12, 15 and 20-foot, they all have the safe working load limit of 1700 pounds. Now that's really good for this boat here. The working load limit when you have a boat winch strapped, that's not pulling...
Let's say the boat weighs 2000 pounds, now it's better to stay under, but that's not a dry weight that you're pulling with that boat, so this is not intended to use outside of the water when your boat is on there. And when it comes to security in it, it's not the only strap, so you have those Gunwale tie-downs with the Transom tie-downs and you have some other ones, all of those together are going to keep your boat secure. But if you do have something that's significantly heavier, you do want to make sure that you're getting proper straps for that. We have a lot of different options out there, getting up into even the 8,000-pound working load limit, so whatever boat size you have, we have a tie-down for you. Overall, it's really smooth operating, there's nothing that stands out. I think it's a really...
Just a standard winch strap, it's going to do a good job of replacing it. It's not very difficult to swap these out, so let's just walk you through how we got this one put in place.First thing we need to do is remove our old strap, we'll get this extended out all the way. And depending on the style of winch that you have, you're either going to have a bolt with a nut on it that you can remove, or this Fulton one we have here, you just kind of push it back up through the center section. So I'll just push it up through there, and then it has this pin that keeps itself in place, so we'll remove that and then we'll pull this old strap out. Now, there is nothing wrong with this strap, it's in really good condition, we're just demonstrating today how easy it is to swap these out, so I'm going to set this one aside and grab our new strap. Now we, can take this loop in and we're going to feed it through the backside of our winch there.
So as we feed that through there, this is where you can attach that bolt if you have that style of winch but our pin is in good condition, so I'm just going to insert it into the loop and get it fed back in there, you can see that holds itself in place. And then we can just start bringing this back to together. When we get close, we can get that hooked into our bow hook, that gets us nice and tight. All we'd need to do is just pop the lid back on our winch and we're ready to go. You can see it didn't take too much effort to get that swapped out, we have a new, nice, clean working winch strap, but that's going to do it for our look at the Dutton-Lanson winch strap replacement..
Just what I needed at a great price!
Same item that you'd pay much more for at other online merchants. Good stitching, quality material. Also included is a replacement bolt.
Just what I was looking for. Packaging was good and delivery was fast. The strap had two bolts and a lock nut, which I didn't expect. Very pleasant experience.
After ordering similar strap from other vendor that had hook to large for my boats bow eye, ordered from ETrailer, very happy the hook is a perfect fit and replacement for my ezloader trailer.
Thank you, we are so happy we changed this, super easy and also your site has video, very happy, thank you for your team and your help, thank you
Received the strap last evening and, after shortening the included bolt to fit my particular winch, installed by nightfall. Easy to order from etrailer.com, with solid follow up communication via email. Thank you!

One year later, its still working like a charm.
Strap worked well with the winch I purchased. Loaded a 1450 lb Viking side by side on a tilt trailer worked great just need to make sure you line the attachment point up with the winch. The winch area where strap wraps & the strap are close to the same size if you don't line them up the strap will start rolling up the side.
Strong and reliable strap. This entire experience from order to install was great. Great as advertised and as I hoped. Thank you.
Installed my new strap today and it works perfect. If you ever have questions about the fit for your winch, give etrailer Customer service a call. They are great to work with. Kaylyn did a great job for me. Thanks!

All good so far
1st, etrailer.com is an excellent company with fantastic customer service.
The strap is very nice. It comes with a couple of carriage bolts different lengths but depending on the winch, you may need to source a better fitting bolt (length, width and shoulder or thread length). The included bolt worked well with the DL11004 worm gear winch but I did have about 1/2 inch of thread in the spool/strap area.
Al in all, I am satisfied.
The selectin and ordering process was a breeze, the items were described clearly. My order (included various items) was shipped and received very quickly. The winch strap was a direct replacement with only one minor issue, the kit comes with two different length bolts, and both of them were too long to clear the inside of my winch frame, I had to source my own shorter bolt to get the job done.
put on my 2017 malibu 21VLX trailer. works perfect. very happy with whole transaction
Ordered a boat trailer winch and some tie down straps. Loved the product videos showing real life operations of the winches. Helped narrow down my choice. Ordered on a Tuesday and had it on Thursday. Just in time for the weekend. Awesome.
Strap was a good replacement for the original boat winch strap.
Strap is high quality and it's made in USA not a Chinese knockoff

eTrailer Rocks!!! I received my winch strap and boat buddy on time. The order process is very easy. eTrailer is the place to purchase replacement parts!
Perfect replacement for the winch strap.
Fast delivery
It's what I expected for winching my boat up on its trailer. What else can I say about a strap.
The bow stop and winch strap is exactly what I wanted and fit perfectly. The quality of these items is excellent.
Solid American made winch strap and hook. I feel much better buying this compared to a cheap knockoff. Thanks!
Another quality product shipped super fast to my doorstep. This will keep my boat winch going for years to come.
The strap looks great. I should have purchased a 3 inch vs 2 inch. I have not used the winch yet, so I still cannot give a valid review. My rating is for service and follow up by retailer.
Works great...used with winch that accepts battery drill. Makes for a great combination !
I’ve had this trailer for a year now. I love it. It pulls like a dream. No issues whatsoever
