An example of sag on a vehicle's rear axle under a heavy load

Whether you're hauling heavy loads in your bed or cargo area or you're towing a trailer, you will often see the rear of your vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Diagram of the Timbren spring installed

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits, 1" above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride that you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's side or passenger's side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you are hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer, and this helps to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or a passing semi), because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to your vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside more quickly.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall when loaded. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. And more elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride when loaded or towing because the rubber has more travel.

had this product before. left it on my old truck when I traded. Now I have to replace it, really like what it does for my towing a travel trailer. just have to find time to put it on. speedy delivery arrived undamaged, which is nice.

by:

They definitely reduced sway and lean when driving. But also seems like you really feel every bump and increase road noise?
I assume since vibration from axle can now travel directly to frame?
Might need to upgrade shocks?
Might soften liitle over time?
Might need to get softer onesv
Only have gone 80 miles with them so far.
Will give it another few hundred miles and see what feel then.

Overall pretty happy So far.

Strainer/basket is holding up well after one year of use in our RV, no issues.

by:

Works great on my 2016 town and country for hauling my pop up camper.

by:

Customer service is exceptional and any questions were answered immediately

by:

Good product, I’ve attached a couple photos. The last one is a before and after

by:

Works great on my Honda odessey !! Great customer service as always!

by:

Very fast shipping, had product in 2 days! Very easy to install. Hardest part was lifting the RV.

by:

Fast delivery. Disappointed with the instructions. Sense the item was ordered vehicle specific. The instructions said tighten bolts to manufactures specifications.

by:

The product first arrived in a damaged box with one of the washers missing, but ETrailer did resupply that. The hardest part was finding a shop able (needs the right tools to depress coil springs) and willing (a potential liability issue messing with suspension) to replace it for a reasonable cost. Eventually a local tire shop agreed to. This was for a 2014 Honda Odyssey, especially for pulling a pop-up. Took two camping trips last summer, one before and one after installation, and I have been pleased with the added stiffness in the rear suspension. It made about 1 to 1.5 inch of difference in resting position when fully loaded and towing and has helped smooth out bumps and humps in the road - both when towing and not.

Great fitment

by:

by:

Delivery was fast, instal was quick & easy. Later today I will see how they work when I hook up to the 5th wheel. By all indications right now I believe they exceed my expectations.

by:

I put this product on my Trooper. The install was easy is you take the back wheels off. I towed this weekend and I did not bottom out. If they hold up over time, this is a great product.

by:

I would recommend this product to anyone. I pull trailers with a 1/2 ton truck and will never have another one without this product on it.

by:

Price was good compared to other sites. Shipped very fast. Installation was very easy.

by:

Put them on and it is exactly what I need to keep truck level when hauling fifth wheel. Easy to install too

by:

Offers firm suppirt for loads. A little bouncy with no load. Easy to install.

by:

Fit and functions as described. Installation was simple on my '05 Silverado.

by:

It took longer to move the floor jack under the truck then to install them. Maybe 10 minutes total. Thanks Rex

by:

15 mins to install and what a difference…. Went from a few inches of sag in the rear to only an inch and over 1000lbs tongue weight didn’t know the trailer was attached to the truck

  • Difference Between Timbren TABSFR150RB and TFR150RB For 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor
You are dead on. The only difference between the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops - Rear Suspension - 2,000 lbs # TABSFR150RB and the 2400lb # TFR150RB for your 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor is the load rating. The correct system will come down to what you plan on towing or hauling, but you will more than likely be just fine with the lower rated # TABSFR150RB, and unless you are truly going to exceed 2000lbs tongue weight or payload I recommend going with this system as the heavier duty system...

  • Timbren Rear Suspension Springs and Bump Issue on 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor
The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - Rear Axle # TFR150RB will provide great load support but it may feel a little jolt when you hit a bump or pothole. There is not a airbag system for your truck presently, so I recommend instead using the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SS52GR. These springs will provide load support but will not have as harsh a bump when they begin to engage as the TImbren brand. Timbren springs are great but that firm hit going over a...

  • Height Of Timbren Suspension Enhancement System TFR150RB For 2019 Ford Raptor
I had our warehouse measure the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # TFR150RB for your 2019 Ford Raptor, and it has an overall height of 5-9/16" as shown in the included diagram. The mounting bracket measures 1-1/8" tall, the spacer is 1/2" tall, and the spring is 3/15/16" tall. I included a video of the # TFR150RB for you to take a look at.

  • Jounce Bumper Suspension Enhancement Recommended for 2018 Ford Raptor
We certainly do have bump stop helper springs that replace the factory bump stops in your 2018 Ford Raptor. For the best ride quality, I'd recommend going with the SumoSprings Solo, part # SS52GR which will provide up to 1500 lbs of additional support. The Timbren # TFR150RB would work as well, but when they're under load, you'll have a harsher ride than what would be experienced with the SumoSprings option I mentioned.

  • Why Does My Truck Still Have Sag After Using a WDS
You don't need the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # TFR150RB, it sounds like you just need to adjust the head on your WDS so that more of the weight gets distributed to the front of your truck. It is worth noting that the Raptor models are not really meant for towing - this is due to the softer off-road style suspension which is designed for more travel than standard suspension. I have also included a video below that shows you how to adjust the head on your WDS as well.

  • Best Rear Suspension Upgrade for the 2020 Ford Raptor
I really like the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle part # SS52GR for this situation. They engage much more smoothly than the Timbrens part # TFR150RB do. The overall user experience is going to be better for you since you won't feel them engage which is common on the Timbrens. The 1500 lb. capacity is at 50% compression so at about mid stroke the more they get compressed the more weight they take up. Please keep in mind this doesn't raise your vehicles towing capabilities...

  • Can I Install Timbren Bump Stops in addition to RoadActive #RAS3611 for a 2017 Ford F150 Raptor?
Hi Teodoro, Since Timbren bump stops will replace your factory bump stops and will sit above the rear axle of your 2017 Ford F150 Raptor, you can install them in addition to the RoadActive suspension # RAS3611 you currently have on your truck as the two systems will work independently of each other. I recommend the Timbren Suspension Enchancement System # TFR150RB which has 2,400lbs of load support to help reduce sag and roll to give a more comfortable ride. I'm thrilled that your RoadActive...
