Features to know about

Stay Level and Steady: Up to 1,000 lbs of Rear-End Support

Heavy loads can make the rear of your vehicle sag, throwing off handling, braking, and headlight aim. The Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs add up to 1,000 lbs of load-leveling support inside your existing coil springs to keep your ride level and balanced. By backing up your stock rear suspension, these molded polyurethane air springs help maintain normal ride height and reduce strain on your tires and suspension parts when you haul or tow.

Dial In the Ride You Want: Adjustable from 5 psi to 35 psi

Every load is different, and these air springs let you fine-tune your setup to match. With adjustable air pressure from 5 psi to 35 psi, you can inflate when hauling gear to stay level and deflate when empty for a smoother ride. Each spring can be inflated independently using dual air lines (if installed) to correct uneven or off-center loads. Manual inflation valves make it easy to set the pressure exactly where you need it.

Cut Down on Sway and Bottoming Out: Durable Polyurethane Design

When bumps or curves try to push your vehicle around, these tough molded polyurethane springs absorb road shock and reduce sway so your ride feels more stable. They help eliminate bottoming out under load while keeping steering response clean and confident. The rugged construction resists wear and keeps air sealed tight for consistent performance mile after mile.

Simple, Straightforward Installation: Fits Right Inside Coil Springs

Adding support doesn’t have to be complicated. This kit installs inside your rear coil spring suspension using standard tools and comes with all necessary parts—two air springs, heat shields, tubing, Schrader valves, and hardware. The instructions are clear, making it easy for DIYers to get everything mounted and ready to go without guesswork. For added convenience later on, you can connect a compressor system (sold separately) to monitor or adjust pressure on demand.

Video Transcript for Hands-On with the Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs-AL32WQ

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at these Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for rear coil springs. Now, these springs are going to fit your 2021 and newer Ford Bronco Sport and the 2020 and newer Ford Escape. Hauling or towing heavy loads can cause the back of your Bronco Sport or Escape to squat and add unnecessary stress to your suspension. This stress not only affects your brakes in a bad way, but your tires, headlight aim, and handling suffer as well. To improve your vehicle's ability to endure heavier loads, you need to add support to your existing coil springs. Now, these springs are constructed of a durable molded polyurethane, and they install inside your vehicle's rear coil spring suspension.

They're gonna give you 1,000 pounds of load-leveling support to improve safety and ride quality on your Bronco Sport or Escape. They will support your existing rear coil spring suspension when you're hauling or towing heavier loads, keeping it level, and they will improve steering and braking performance. They're gonna help maintain your headlight aim and they will reduce tire wear and suspension strain. They're also going to diminish sway and absorb road shock, providing improved stability and ride quality. Now, the air pressure in these springs have a range of 5 psi to 35 psi.

You do need to maintain at least five psi in the springs, and you can mainly adjust the air pressure to get even load distribution and support that you need. And with the installation of dual air lines, you can inflate each spring independently for side-to-side leveling of any off-center loads. The manual inflation valves are typically mounted on your bumper, so they are easy to reach. Now, for even more convenience and control, you can add a compressor engage system, which will let you monitor and automatically inflate your air springs, and we do sell those separately on our website. This kit is going to include everything that you see before me.

Of course, you're gonna get the two air springs, you're also gonna get air line tubing, the Schrader valves that we've already mentioned, and all of the hardware for installation and cable ties to take up any slack of your air line tubing. You will also get instructions to help you in your install, guiding you step-by-step, but also, informing you on how you can best use this system. It is made in the USA, and again, the load-leveling capacity is up to 1,000 pounds. However, it is important to note that these springs will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity, so you do wanna make sure that you don't exceed your manufacturer's recommended weight limit. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today, I do hope that it was helpful for you.

Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me..

I mounted these with the intention of helping the suspension when I have weight in the back but actually it made my car handle better while putting about 10 lb of pressure in the bags on my everyday drives. Win win
by:
2023 Ford Bronco Sport
The system seems to work as expected. I carry a 250 lb scooter on a hitch carrier and it only squats the rear less than a half inch now. The bags are soooo hard to get in place. I ended up getting tire spoons and putting way more force on them than I expected. I am not crazy about the cheap plastic tee since all other fittings are brass. I suppose it will be easy enough to fix if it fails but just seems a bit cheap to me.

Fast shipping and a great price what more can you ask for thanks!!

The issue with the Bronco sport is that there are three very different suspension. I have the Big Bend version and after ruining an airbag we discover the kit is for the larger badlands coils and will not fit the base or Big Bend or the outer banks versions. It really is to bad manufacturers don’t do their homework. Great design but only fits one version of the Bronco Sport only the Badlands.

I have gotten in touch with the manufacturer and they have suggested that, since the Bronco has multiple different styles for the Sport, it is certainly possible that ford made some changes since they launched the Bronco. I have sent your information over to our customer service department for them get this situation resolved. They should be getting in touch with you soon.

Word of advice: It was WAY easier to just remove the coil springs and install the bags that way. (2016-2020 Kia Sorento)

Lift the rear end, remove wheel, disconnect the lower control arm, shock, and sway bar link. Take out the coil spring and insert the bag from the top. Reassemble in reverse order and torque bolts to spec. Much easier.

From that point it was just a matter of routing the air lines through the control arms, up through the subframe, over the spare tire, to the trailer hitch mount. Bags seem to hold air well and are holding up so far. Definitely made an improvement in handling around corners.

Note: There is a noticeable squeaking/noise from the rear end going over bumps at low speeds. Once you're on the pavement or up to speed it improves.

Loses one star for the noise and install. Otherwise not a bad product for the price, especially if you're the DIY type. I personally work on cars, so maybe it was a little easier for me.

Put these on my 2020 Equinox, it has a tow package and pulls my little Wildwood trailer just fine but with this airliift system it feels SOOOO much more stable!! It drives much less ‘mushy’ and handling is a dream. These are simple to install, perfect product for pulling with a light duty SUV, I am extremely impressed.

Glad to hear they are making towing a more comfortable experience, Mark! Cool little camper as well! ^___^ Where did you guys take it?

2009 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
We install these on our customers 09 trailblazer to haul a big camper and they really helped a lot! Not just with the towing but just the daily driving and ride quality. 5 stars for sure. It’s a good kit and good price but add a on board compressor and really fine tune things

Hummer H2
I purchased this product for some additional support for our Hummer H2 when we are towing our travel trailer. I removed the springs for easier installation of each bag.
I am 66 years old and total time from start to completion was 3 1/2 hours from set up to clean up !

@GwendolynY We are towing a 16’ travel trailer and the bags add just a little extra support for bumps so I won’t get sag or excessive rear end bounce.

I have towed my RV several times over the last year and these helper springs work perfectly! I had a very small air leak but I added some silicone at the airline connections and it is 100 percent! I carry a battery powered air compressor with me and it’s basically a “set it and forget it” systems.

Works great on my 2000 Lexus LX470. I installed these to supplement my AHC deleted suspension. These were installed with Land Cruiser rear springs. Instructions were easy to follow. Routed separate air lines (did not use the y connector) above the frame and fitted the valves into existing holes on the bumper. Run them at 8-10 psi when I have gear in cargo area. Holds air perfectly.

Glad they are working well for you, Scott! I gotta ask, did you do the AHC delete as it was worn our or did you just not particularly like it? I've heard people do this for either reason.

1/13/2026

@LazerS The AHC system was great when working optimally but mine was wearing out. The globes were starting to fail, both rear hydraulic shocks were weeping, and the ride was getting firm over small road imperfections. I decided to do the AHC delete for cost effectiveness, reliability, and possible future suspension upgrades.

2021 Jeep Wrangler
These air springs are one of the best investments you can make if you have a 4XE Wrangler. The battery pack is so heavy, I am finding after a couple of years the factory springs are getting too spongy and the body lean is more noticeable on the road especially cornering. Plus when you go over larger bumps the body sway is much more noticeable. I looked into an air spring set up but did not really want to spend several thousand dollars and I was surprised when I came across this set for under $[XX]. I was sceptical but thought, why not. They arrived in a small box and I was even more doubtful but when I opened it and took out the kit, I was impressed with the quality of the materials. I followed the instructions (with a few exceptions) and found them to be very easy to install. If you take your time with routing the air lines over the factory heat shields and carefully bring them to the rear drivers side, you can install them using the t connector. You can drill a hole through the thin part of the bumper right beside the license plate. There is just enough air line included to do this. The Schrader valve seats perfectly and makes it very convenient to add or bleed air from the system with only one adjustment. I set the springs at 12 psi and coupled with my after market adjustable shocks, I can make my Wrangler so smooth it feels more like a European SUV than a Jeep. Excellent product.

The air springs are still operating as well as the day I installed them. They do not leak any air pressure nor have they degraded in any way. What a great and simple solution that lasts.

2005 dodge Ram Pickup
I knew going into this, this was going to be a pain to install. After 5 hours, I had to call a friend who was a mechanic to come over and help get the bags into the springs. We finally read enough reviews where people said to heat up the bags a little, fold them and zip tie them. This worked! But.....Here we are, they've been installed, traveled over 2000 miles with them in and let me tell you, the noise! OMG THE NOISE! Every bump, dip, hell - I think just for the fun of it - my car squeaks like a 1970's Cadi! I've used multiple Teflon lubricants, Bearings Grease and other various lubricants. NO, I didn't use WD40. You can hear me coming down the road the noise is that loud. I called Airlift as instructed and they advised me that they're not even showing that these are a match for my car although Etrailer does. The tech that I spoke to told me that if I've driven that much, with and without loads, adjusted the PSI (which I have. I've gone from 5-35psi as instructed. No matter where I am sitting, it is loud! For someone who is tone sensitive with high PTSD and ADHD/OCD - this is not working. Airlift said that there's a 60 day ride approval. I don't approve as I've gotten to the point that I don't even want to drive my 2025 car! Instead, I've been driving a 2005 van if I need to go to the store or anything. I've truly tried to let these be the savior of my needs, but I think I'm going to just bite the bullet and get a Gladiator or Ram.

Well, after going back and forth - basically it comes down to - 60 day drive warranty doesnt compute. So after spending $300 on install, now Im expected to spend another $300-$400 to have them removed to return them, oh and pay for return. So roughly $800 to get back $130. Ill chalk this up to understanding that if a product doesnt work out in any manner. To remove these, you have to take the rearend of the car off - shocks and springs - then try to get the bags out of a much smaller ending without damaging otherwise youll not refund. Basically no support, other than a were sorry.

@DonnieM Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're very sorry to hear how frustrating this has been for you, especially after the time, effort, and additional expense you invested into the installation. I do want to clarify that these Air Lift air bags are confirmed to fit your vehicle application, this has been confirmed through Air Lift. However, we completely understand that while a product may be compatible with a vehicle, that doesn't necessarily mean it will meet expectations in terms of ride quality, noise levels, or overall satisfaction. While I realize that doesn't change your experience, I do want to sincerely apologize that these air bags have not delivered the results you were expecting. We appreciate your feedback and the detailed information you've provided. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, and I'm sorry this solution did not work out the way you had hoped.

Awesome Air Bag support for my rear springs for my 2014 Toyota Sienna 3.5" lifted van. It stopped rear sag with heavy loaf and body roll when driving.
by:
2015 Honda Odyssey
After installing I was very happy with the performance of the Air Lift kit.
A few notes I will highlight to help with install:
-When using the template, the hole is closer to the inside of the center of the van.
-Use a Step Drill bit to cut the hole in the lower control arm. I got mine from HF.
-Route the air hoses thru the lower control arms and zip tie them up along the rear subframe
-I sprayed with air bags with Lithium grease to keep any noises from occurring
-3d printed a bracket to hold the fittings on my rear hitch

Chevrolet Silverado 1500
I put the Airlift 1,000 kit on our Suburban LT 1500 which has a towing package on it to enhance the vehicles ability to lessen frost heaves on our Alaskan highways while towing our travel trailer. The air shocks of the towing package although heavy duty were stressed out on trips down the Alcan. The new airbags are working just fine and were easy to install. After ordering the kit, it arrived within the week. The instructions were easy to follow.
by:
Overall, a surprisingly great benefit for very little cost and a little effort. Took some time to install (no harder than anticipated), the videos were very helpful. I struggled to get the connections all airtight, always had a slight leak. However, still saw a benefit to my suspension and ride, even when not towing. For our 2019 Pathfinder, where the "tow weight" is definitely a little fudged, these where a big help.

Thanks for the great follow-up review, Jimmy! Glad to hear the system made such a noticeable difference in both ride quality and suspension support, even when you’re not towing. It’s also great to hear the install videos helped out along the way. Air connections can definitely be the most finicky part of the install, so we appreciate you mentioning that for others considering the setup. Sounds like the end result was well worth the effort on your Pathfinder. Thanks again for sharing your experience a year later!

Fit my 2019 Toyota Senna AWD perfectly. Easy to install. didn't even have to disconnect exhaust hanger as instructed. instead i used a 1/2 drive universal joint with sockets to access bolt holes on passenger side. I pull a 2500lb boat or a 2000lb trailer with no problems. I use 15 to 30 lbs air pressure to keep level. i used two valves and separate air for each bag. I didn't want it shifting in long turns. I highly recommend and would buy again....

I was replacing the same setup that I installed in 2007 it held air until last year Had to drop the rear axle to install but once everything is in place it work perfectly it's held air for a year would recommend placing as many of the fittings and the air input valve inside the truck they will last much longer
by:
The product does exactly what it is designed to do at a very reasonable price point. The two star reduction is based on the uber difficult installation process for bags on this model vehicle. Other systems I've installed were done with the coil spring removed, and reinstalled. Ten minutes a corner. Having to contort this bag through the opening between two coils of the installed spring is unlike anything I've encountered in 50 years of mechanical work. No matter how much soapy water I applied, every minute or two, getting a midline crease in the semi-folded bag over an inch wider than the spring OD through and into the inner spring diameter was tortuous. It was every bit of two hours work for just the bag insertions, and I have a full car lift like the video, and removed the wheels for best leverage and access. Once the bags are in; the rest is a cake walk.
by:
Bags came quick and easy to install . I did find that if you remove three bolts, sway bar link , lower control arm and shock and remove the spring it’s a lot easier to put the bag in . So far they are working great !

Installed into the 2011 Toyota Sienna V6 FWD Limited (145k miles) and now is geared up a 2" receiver class II draw-tite hitch package and ready to tow are recently purchased metal 8' x 4'6" tilt-bed trailer, or any occasional heavy payloads in the minivan.
When I had updated my tired 2011 Sienna with new suspension components throughout the vehicle (including lower control arms w/ ball joint(s), transmission/motor mounts, CV drive axles, carrier bearing mount bracket, McPherson struts, rear shocks, brake rotors and pads (front and rear), rear parking brake shoes and hardware, outer tie-rod ends, steering/sway bars links, I discovered a broken, rusty rear, right coil. After all swapped out and four-wheel alignment completed, I opted to add this A1000 air lift kit too.

Seems to work so far. I like results, but air hoses are too thin. Need protectors where hose passes thru frame of car.
