Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CE Smith 24" long safety chains with the S hooks. This has a 2,000 pound weight capacity. Now these are required in most states 'cause the safety chain will act as a backup connection if your trailer becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle. Basically, you'll attach this end of the zinc-coated steel chain to your trailer's coupler, and then you'll hook the S hooks on the other end to your hitch. If you notice on the S hooks, they have this integrated security spring clip on it to prevent accidental unhooking.
Now, we mentioned these are a zinc-plated steel. They do resist rust and corrosion. Now this set here is perfect for trailers under 2,000 pound combined gross weight, meaning the total of the trailer plus the carried load. The chain length, again, 24" long. The chain size, which is the length thickness here, is 3/16", and the S hook itself, the inside width on this S hook is 3/4".
