The AeroBlade Edge

Thule's AeroBlade Edge crossbars mount directly to your vehicle's elevated, factory side rails to create a roof rack that is quieter, stronger, and more aerodynamic than almost anything on the road. The low-profile, arced shape of the bars couples with the unique WindDiffuser stripping to produce a bar that is so quiet you'll forget you even have a rack on your car. Many factory and aftermarket roof racks produce an annoying whistle that can only be quelled by adding a fairing to the system. Not only is a fairing unnecessary with the AeroBlade Edge, but adding one would actually make it louder and less aerodynamic.

WindDiffuser Technology

A built-in T-track sits along the top of each bar, near the front. When no accessories are mounted, the included WindDiffuser rubber stripping covers the T-slots. (You can also cut the stripping so that it can be placed in the slots around any carriers or accessories that are mounted.) The rubber stripping serves to keep dirt and grime out of each T-slot and provides a little scratch-resistant cushion for any mounted items.

The unique aspect of the WindDiffuser, which comes standard with the AeroBlade Edge, is the raised, angled vectors (or ribbing). This textured surface disrupts and redirects the air flowing over the bar, tripping it to create turbulence and clean air release. The result is less wind noise and drag, little to no annoying whistle, and a more aerodynamic rack. In fact, the AeroBlade Edge crossbars have been shown to produce 90 percent less sound energy than the elliptical Thule Aero bars, making them the quietest style of load bars in the industry.

Aerodynamic Design

Thule took a note from the manufacturers of high-performance cars, such as Ferrari and Maserati, and designed the AeroBlade Edge with a Kammback (or Kamm-tail) style. This crossbar does not have a full-length teardrop-type tail; rather, it is cut off, leaving a square end at the rear of the bar. The aerodynamic effect is essentially the same as it would be if the bar continued into a full teardrop shape. Air continues to move over it in a streamlined fashion, flowing along the bar as it would if the tail were complete. Because there is no tail, though, the bar is smaller and weighs less.

Strong, Durable Construction

The Thule AeroBlade Edge load bars are constructed of extruded aluminum to ensure an extra-sturdy roof rack system. During the extrusion process, metal is shaped to form a complex BoxBeam design on the interior of each bar, as seen in the cross section of the AeroBlade Edge. Each fold adds to the overall strength and rigidity of the bar. This process creates crossbars that are primarily hollow but still reinforced for added strength. The result is a bar that can withstand more than 800 lbs of force, yet weighs so little that it takes up only a slight portion of your load capacity.

AeroBlade Edge Installation

The mounting style of the AeroBlade Edge offers the most surface contact of any side-rail-mounted crossbars, ensuring that the roof rack is solid and secure. To install the rack, first measure the diameter of your roof rack side rails. There are 4 notches in the rubber-coated steel mounting straps to accommodate side rails of different sizes. Once you determine the appropriate notch to use, remove the crossbar covers and connect the straps to the feet. Wrap each strap under and around the side rail, and snap it into place on the posts at the top of the foot. To complete installation, use the included tool to tighten the straps around the bars until they audibly click and then replace the crossbar covers.

Mounting Roof Rack Accessories in T-Slots

Mounting roof rack accessories is quick and easy with the AeroBlade Edge. Simply remove the crossbar cover, slide in your accessory, and replace the cover. Some accessories may require Xadapt hardware (sold separately), and trimming of the WindDiffuser strip may be required to accommodate accessory mounting hardware. To deter theft of your carriers - and the crossbars - add Thule One-Key System lock cylinders (sold separately) to the covers.

Video Transcript for Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule line of AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack Systems. Now, these are going to be a really nice solution for getting your outdoor recreational equipment where you want to go, but they're also really handy for freeing up some space inside the vehicle. You can use a rooftop box or a rooftop basket, get some of those items out, get more people inside. Now, the AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack System gives us a much more sleek style roof rack system than what we're used to as the traditional AeroBlade setups. Those are going to extend out past our foot pack. This leads to a much more factory style look without that overhang, and because we're going to be reducing the amount of bar and foot pack we have on our roof, it could help save us some money at the pump. Now, the crossbars are going to have the same great aerodynamic shape that we get out of the traditional Thule AeroBlades, making for an extremely quiet system. The removable end caps of the Edge System are going to allow us to quickly access the T-slot; you can see that right here.

You'll see the removable strip located inside. We can cut this to fit any accessories we want to put into the T-slot. You do want to be sure that you put that back in around it. That's going to help reduce any wind, kind of buffeting in that area creating noise. Now, each of our covers is going to come with a plastic cord here that you can use a flathead to unlock and lock. Now, if you want some additional security, these can be replaced with part number TH450400.

That'll give you four keyed-alike lock cores to go in there, not only to protect your roof rack system for theft, but anything you might have mounted in your T-slot.Now, the AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack System has been designed to work with the raised factory side rails. The flush mount factory side rails, fixed mounting points, and bare roofs. Now, since each kit has been designed to fit your particular application, it helps offer a quick and easy installation. They're available in silver as we have here, or if you'd like it to more closely match your vehicle's trim, in black. Now, internally we have an aluminum reinforced construction, so any kind of flex or give isn't going to be an issue, and whether you choose the silver or the black, they're going to have an anodized finish. You're not going to have to worry at all about corrosion. Now, when comparing the AeroBlade Edge System to other roof rack systems in which the crossbar is going to end in the foot pack, the Thule has the lowest profile.

It doesn't stick up as much as what we get out of some of the other manufacturers. So, if overhead clearance is an issue in the parking garages or home garages, something like that, this might be a really good choice.Something that I would prefer that this had that it doesn't are the locking cores. It's a big investment. You really don't want it disappearing, so with some of the other systems, they do include the locking cores. With this one, you'd have to purchase them separately. We've tested the roof rack system out, and after loading it up with our bike and skis really had no strength issues.

It's really sturdy, and while traveling down the road with it empty or with accessories on it really didn't notice any change in the noise level. That's going to be echoed in a lot of the customer reviews also. It's like Caleb M. said, "It only took 30 minutes to do a full install. Quiet; I can't even tell they've been installed," or like Jim G. said that, "It fits great and it looks good, that it's very sturdy," or like David P. said, "The fit was great and the installation was very easy. My friends say it looks like it has always been there." That's going to complete our look at the Thule line of the AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack System.

First of, etrailer.com did an awesome job in shipping these out fast. Very pleased & impressed. About the roof racks, these things are awsome. They look great (best I've seen from any manufacturer), installs easily and appear well built & very sturdy. Already went on a road trip carrying a loaded XXL cargo box. No issues at all. Again, very happy with the purchase. 138313

I purchased the Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack for my 2006 Mercedes ML350. I bought it to go with the Thule Glide and Set carrier so I could transport my kayak. The rack is extremely well made and fit my vehicle perfectly. It went on very easily and is very sturdy. I also bought four Thule core locks to go with it for peace of mind. One can not go wrong with Thule products. 189393

At first I thought I really was going to struggle to make this item fit but Thule customer support walked me through it (although they admitted there is a design flaw) -- but no surprise Thule product performed as I had hoped for. Did a 2K mile journey with my equipment attached and it did not budge. 184841

This rack attaches very easily and securely to the existing rails on my Honda Pilot. I love the built in "torque wrench" that Thule provides. I do not notice any wind noise when driving at any speed either. Very happy! 86537

The Thule # TH7503-TH7503 roof rack requires at a minimum 2 locking cores, one for each crossbar, but to fully secure the entire rack to your vehicle I recommend using 4 locking cores. Depending on the roof rack accessories that you will be using, you might also want locking cores for those as well. I have included a link to the Thule Locking Cores that we currently have, and you can choose the keyed alike quantity to suit your needs.

Review from a similar Thule AeroBlade Edge in Roof Rack

ordered these bars for my 2018 Highlander for a Thule force XL, they fit GREAT and the look is sweet! now I need to get some same key locking cores for everything but these are top notch! Never dreamed I would spend a grand on a roof box and bars, but with my family of 5, and the lack of cargo space in the HL it's GREAT! We came from a 2008 Escalade ESV with TONS of space but got sick of the TANK! 485234

These crossbars for the factory side rails fit our 2014 Mazda CX-5 perfectly. I chose this style because I did not want anything hanging over the side where I can bump my head getting in and out of the car. The fit gets snug if you try to put the rear rail all the way at the end of the side rails, indicating the side rails are closer together at the back than the front. I was trying for maximum spread since I'm carrying a 17 foot kayak. They work well, look good and are quite sturdy. 157077

Purchased for an 8000 mile roadtrip last summer. A perfect fit for our Ford Flex. Easy to locate correct model on etrailer.com website and best price we could find. Install was a snap with good instructions. Great customer support at Thule - totally class company. We used it to mount our Thule luggage carrier as well as fishing poles on the sides. Had minimal effect on MPG. Couldn't be happier with Thule AND etrailer.com. 522316

Review from a similar Thule AeroBlade Edge in Roof Rack

Bought this for a 2015 Subaru Forester XT with oem side rails each product came in their own Thule box. 2 Thule boxes were inside a larger etrailer. items were free floating and had room to move and bounce around inside the box. everything came undamaged and the Thule boxes in nearly pristine condition; considering the eTrailer box was slightly dented. everything else was standard new product stuff from the factory. Thule Aeroblade edge bars came well packaged. instructions are IKEA style instructions. easy to install, it really helps to watch the install video available on this website. the torque spec for tightening the straps is 2nm which is roughly 17ft lb/in. the bars do not produce ANY noise what so ever. super quiet as if there arent any bars. the bars are solid and fit my Yakima big powderhound snowboard rack. overall, very happy with the product. 226843

Review from a similar Thule AeroBlade Edge in Roof Rack

I ordered a couple different items but the primary reason for my order was a purchase of Thule cross bars to fit the factory rails on my SUV. I had done a lot of research of different brands but a discussion with an employee at etrailer.com convinced me that I was right in considering the Thule product to be the best fit for my needs. The cross bars arrived quickly & I installed them in about an hour. They look great (my wife said it looks like they were installed by the factory). I like them so much that I will consider purchasing a second set of cross bars for another vehicle. It is a pleasure doing business with a company like etrailer.com. They have excellent descriptions & photos of their products on their website, everything I needed was in stock & the service & follow up is remarkable! 401881

Easy to install on my 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, even for a non-mechanically oriented person like myself. Very solid. Does NOT interfere with panoramic sunroof as some warnings had mentioned. Haven’t taken it on the road yet, but expect it to be quiet based on other reviews. etrailer.com shipping was fast - received in just one and and a half days. The installation video on the site was very helpful...better than the included written instructions. Highly recommend this rack and etrailer.com. 640909

Superb Customer service. Prompt shipping. Actually shipment got to my home a day earlier than I was expecting. Product was packaged in oversized box with plenty of padding and protection. Only complaint, (not that it's major) but there were absolutely no instillation instructions with product. IF someone has any mechanical skills they can figure it out, but always good to know your installing properly. Installed withing 15 minutes on my 2016 Ford Flex. 303293

The Thule Aeroblade Edge bars like the part # TH7503-TH7503 that you referenced are a really great option for your 2019 Volkswagen Atlas with raised side rails. I really like this option as it gives you an OEM look by not having the bars go past the feet of the rack which also helps quite a bit with wind noise. This weight will need to include the weight...

  • Will the Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack for a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas Work With a Sun Roof
The Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack part # TH7503-TH7503 which is a fit for a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas will work on models with a glass roof. However, if the roof opens up above the roof line like a sun roof then you would first need to remove the roof rack. If the roof opens by sliding straight back below the roof line like a moon roof then you would not need to remove the roof rack. The Thule WingBar Evo Crossbar System part # TH711400 and part # TH450R would be a good option if you have...

  • Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack for a 2010 Mercedes GL350
The original fit list from Thule for the AeroBlade Edge roof racks was not 100 percent accurate and we are finding things out like this from time to time. I did confirm with Thule that for your 2010 Mercedes GL350 it should be # TH7502-TH7503. Our fit guide will be updated accordingly. With the rack installed you can mount the Hyper XL cargo box # TH612. To determine if there will be any interference with the rear hatch when opened you would have to measure from the center of the front...

  • Best Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander with Raised Side Rails
For your 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander with raised side rails that run from front to back I would recommend the Thule Aeroblade Edge Roof Rack part # TH7503-TH7503. This will fit secure to the raised rails of your vehicle and will provide you with an OEM looking roof rack that will be very quiet. You will want to be sure you check the roof capacity of your vehicle that is listed in the owners manual of your vehicle and be sure not to exceed this figure with the weight of any roof cargo.

  • Availability of Aero Bars for 2014 Toyota 4Runner Trail
It looks like the 2014 Toyota 4Runner came with factory side rails that run front to back on the roof of the vehicle. You will want to use Thule AeroBlade Edge rack # TH7503-TH7503. With this rack you get the quietest, most aerodynamic bars that are integrated into the feet that attach to the side rails of the 2014 Toyota 4Runner for a clean, OEM look. I have linked a video showing them on a Toyota Highlander to give you an idea of how they install.

  • Best Roof Rack Recommendation for 2012 Porsche Cayenne Turbo with Raised Roof Rails
The best choice for a low noise roof rack for your 2012 Porsche Cayenne would be the Thule Aeroblade Edge roof rack part numbers # TH7503-TH7503 the shapes of these bars were designed to create the least amount of wind noise possible, and since the bars do not extend past the feet of the rack that's less bar to create noise and it allows them to sit lower as well. Being lower means they are even less in the wind than the higher bars.

  • Will Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack # TH7503-TH7503 Allow 2013 Cadillac SRX Sun Roof to Open
My contact at Thule indicated that they know of no fit issues between their AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack System # TH7503-TH7503 and the factory-installed sun roof on your 2013 SRX. Thule checks for such issues when they test-fit their roof racks and other products. This rack system fits your SRX as long as it is NOT the Sport. If you prefer black bars the instead order # TH7503B-TH7503B.

If you have raised rails that come off of the roof of the vehicles that you could put your hand under you would want the Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Rack # TH7503-TH7503 as it has been confirmed as a fit. If instead you have flush rails on the roof of the vehicle you would want the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 and # RRSX040 that has been confirmed as a fit for that roof configuration.

  • Roof Rack for Using Thule Hyper XL Cargo Box TH612 on 2019 Toyota 4Runner
There is a way to install the Thule Hyper XL part # TH612 on your 2019 Toyota 4Runner but since the factory crossbars of your vehicle are so low to the vehicle roof there isn't enough clearance for the clamps of this box to fit without interference. So Thule recommend you install one of their roof racks like the Thule AeroBlade Edge part # TH7503-TH7503 which will attach to the raised side rails and work great with the Hyper. This will also put the box up high enough that it clears the...

We have just what you need. The Thule Aeroblade Edge roof rack part # TH7503B-TH7503B is a confirmed fit for the raised roof rails of your 2005 BMW X5, the bars are aero shaped, and they do not extend past the feet of the rack. As far as other options the only other matching setup would be the silver version of the same rack part # TH7503-TH7503. • Will an Older Thule Cargo Box Fit the Factory Roof Rack and Crossbars on a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder
It sounds like you have a previous generation Thule cargo box that used the Quick Grip mounts (the claw). These mounting feet will fit the factory roof rack on your 2014 Nissan Pathfinder.
