Note: It is recommended that you remove this roof rack from your vehicle when it is not in use.

This semi-custom SportRack roof rack easily installs on your vehicle's bare roof so you can carry extra cargo to your next destination. Adjustable, rotating footpads combine with an easy-to-use numbering system to make the rack conform to your roof for a good fit.

A unique numbering system is inscribed on the crossbars to aid in installation. This system corresponds to numbers noted in the easy-to-read application guide. First, find the number indicated for your car, and then slide the roof-rack feet along the crossbars until they line up with the appropriate number for your application. Tighten the feet in place with the included Allen wrench.

Refer to the application guide to find specific measurements that allow you to properly position the rack on your roof. To begin installing the roof rack on your vehicle, open the passenger's- and driver's-side doors. Place the front crossbar first, and make sure that the screws that hold the clamps in the roof-rack feet are loose before positioning the feet on your roof.

Before attaching the clamps to the door jambs and tightening them down, you need to make sure that the feet and pads are oriented correctly. The bottom of each foot can be rotated to better fit the slope of your roof. Make sure that the feet are sitting flush against the roof.

Once the feet are properly positioned, attach the clamps to the door jambs and tighten via the screws in the feet. After the front crossbar is positioned, review the instructions for the measurements needed to place the rear crossbar and repeat the same process for that crossbar.

Once everything is tightened down, place the locking covers over the feet to deter theft of the rack.

2006 Toyota Corolla

I purchased one of the Naked Roof Racks for my 2006 Toyota Corolla and the directions were easy to understand, very clear as to what needs to be done and the racks fit my roof well. In the directions they say to tighten the width adjuster bolts down to 53 inch pounds of torque and I did, but while tightening it down I did notice on the bars aren't the strongest of material because while tightening the width brackets down (to 53 inch pounds) it did cave/crease in the walls of the bars. I think it will be fine, just more secure so the width definitely won't move at all. Also, while driving above 60 mph there is a bit of wind noise but I'm alright with that since these will be coming off when not in use. Overall I'm happy with the product, the price point and rather quick delivery was excellent.

by:

Easy to install with easy to understand instructions. It will make the car ride a little noisier (outside noise) due to the fact that the door seals are now a little ajar but not that bad. So far so good.

- SR1002
by:

It works, but if it rains, water leaks through the door seals VERY badly, even if parked. So glad I didn't figure this out while on trip. I simply cannot use the product if I anticipate rain, which rules out using it for anything but relatively short trips.

Comments
Thank you for the review! It may be worth double checking the weather stripping on your vehicle. These racks can cause rain to get in if the stripping is worn down or old.

The sportracks are excellent on my ford fiesta. They are used for two kayaks and I've had no problems at all compared to the last racks I had. In fact, the racks were easy to put on my car and of great convenience! They are sturdy and an investment well worth it. In the future I'd like to use the racks for bikes and luggages. I've been also able to use the racks to move a bed and furntiture. Yes, on my little ford fiesta and some solid straps! Thank you etrailer!!!

Comments
They have been working great! I used them often for loading my kayaks and going to the lake, and transferring furniture. They very useful to have on a roof with no racks. I still havent used them for bikes though. I could make that a goal to go bike riding with my husband and daughter...

2008 Honda Fit

I was skeptical about how this "naked roof" attachment strategy was going to work, but now that I've tried it out I feel OK about it. The rubber is pretty thick, so I haven't seen any scratch marks. Once you get it adjusted for your vehicle it's pretty easy to mount or dismount. The only complaint I have is that the doors "don't close right" when it is attached (at least on my 2008 Honda Fit Sport) -- they get forced slightly down, which probably isn't serious, but it isn't good for them either. This also means the weatherstripping doesn't fully seal, so I hear more wind noise when driving (not counting the noise the bars and bikes add). It hasn't rained on my vehicle while this is attached yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if a little water leaked through too. This is my first rack mount, and all in all I'm satisfied with it. It was a reasonable price, was easy to install, and doesn't feel like it's going to loosen up and fly off.

Comments
Hi Jacob, The weatherstrip that is getting folded on your fit is actually a water diverter strip designed to gutter the majority of water away from the main sealing weatherstrip. One is mounted on the door and one is mounted on the body of the car. You will be fine in the wet weather.
-- comment by: Glen - 08/17/2015

Comments
Still working fine though it has caused the weatherstripping water diverter material on my 2008 Fit to sustain some slight damage beginning to break.

Nice adjustable roof rack. It fits my Hyundai Ionic with no problem. Perfect for carrying kayaks and lighter weight construction materials. (We did load 24'x12' of vinyl sheet flooring and the bars looked a little maxed out with that). Cons: the rubber padding on the feet come off easily and are difficult to reattach. Also it makes the weather stripping on my windows leak a little in hard rain, so I can't leave the roof rack on for a long time.

2011 Toyota Yaris

These were exactly what I needed on my 2011 Toyota Yaris. I have never had a problem with it. I have the weight maxed out with a roof basket carrying three duffel bags, 2 tables, a highchair, 2 skateboards, a folding vacuum, and 2 camping chairs. It has seen about 8,000 miles through 24 states. I did have to take locking pliers to it to fix the angle of the bend that hooks into the door jam. It was malleable enough to handle easily.

The roof rack held up through some extensive abuse. I ended up selling it on [used items site] when I upgraded vehicles.

Hey its george right? Um i did just recieve the product, it didnt come with a allen wrench like the pictures said and i was looking through my tools for one for like an hour but thats no worries, the roof rack does interfere with my doors a little you have to push a little hard to close them pretty much slam them but im not worried to much since its an older car they are mounted really tights i could shake the whole car and they wouldnt move I am satisfied with them i do want to loosen them and try to get the rubber piece back into its spot. I initially got them ao i can put a snowboard mount on it so I dont have to stuff my snowboard into my trunk this year. Oh I think they actually look really good on my car too.

Comments
Thanks for your business and your review, Travis - I have submitted your comment about the missing allen wrench to our customer service team, who should be in touch as soon as possible.

Great for the price. Works flawlessly. Have patience installing. Didn’t quite fit on the number it was suppose to line up with but have had in car for a year never had a problem. Yes you will get wind noise so adding a wind deflector to your order would be smart if you don’t have a loud radio to drown it out!

Hyundai Elantra

I installed the SportRack on my Hyundai Elantra last week. The SportRack is more expensive than the cheap roof racks on Amazon, but much less expensive than Thule or Rhino. I was pleasantly surprised at how solid, rugged, and heavy duty the SportRack is. It was easy to install - no extra tools needed; SportRack included an Alan wrench. Like all roof racks that attach to the door frame, I noticed more road noise - because the rack allows a small gap in the door seal. However, the noise was not worse than the expensive roof racks. My first trip from Utah to Arizona was thru a blizzard, then hail, then rain until I reached Arizona and the sun came out. The small gap in the seal did not let the rain in - pleasantly surprised. I recommend this roof rack to car owners that need to haul big items on a little car.

2008 Toyota Camry

For the price you can't go wrong. Pros: - Allowed us to carry double stroller, toddler mattress, and pack'n'play on roof from El Paso, TX to Disneyland in California without any issues. This gave us complete access to trunk storage for our luggage and other items. - Simple to use. - Very sturdy. - Looks pretty good on any car. Cons: - etrailer.com sent me a heavily used unit and charged me full price as if item was used. I didn't throw a big fuss about it because I figured we were going to bang it up anyway and they also gave me back 10% which was helpful. - The door clamps are too thick for Toyota Camry (2008 LE). You have to roll the windows down and pull from the inside as hard as you can or else you'll get tons of wind noise. - I followed fitting chart exactly; however, the rear measurements was no where close for proper fit for the rear fitting. I had to use 18" in back and 21" in front. The fitting chart suggested 21" and 21" but at 21" the rear bar wouldn't even clamp when the Allen screw was all the way down. Higher quality bars with smaller/better fitting door clamps would have been nice, but we only intend to use this once or twice a year for camping so going for a budget option was a good choice for us. If you plan to use them a lot, and you have a 2008 Camry LE, I would consider investing more on a better fitting unit for this particular car. Without pulling from the inside, the wind noise was so loud I couldn't talk to my wife sitting next to me without speaking loudly. To some that might not be ideal.

Works well for the price. We have used this rack on a few trips to carry two kayaks on a small hatchback (see photo) and it remained perfectly attached the entire time. The only issue was a small amount of rainwater entered the vehicle where the clip is pressing the weather seal down above the door. I suppose this is unavoidable when retrofitting a vehicle with something like this, and it really wasn't that big of a deal since most of the time it isn't raining. Also, water does not enter when travelling at highway speeds since it doesn't have time to collect.

Very solid and secure. I'm impressed! Must say I had my doubts but this product but it performs beyond my expectations. We needed a second roof rack system to shuttle our kayaks back to the "put-in" after paddling down river on the Chattahoochee. We originally purchased a Thule system for my girlfriends wagon at [...]'s garage sale and found fold down kayak holders at another garage sale months later. That left the rigid stand up kayak holders (that you see in the pics) just sitting around. This etrailer.com roof rack works great for our needs, is easily removable, and super economical. Happy kayaking!

2005 Toyota Corolla

cAfter a couple days of searching online for a rack system, reading reviews, comparing prices and even searching Craigslist and Ebay I settled on ETrailer Sr1002 for my 2005 Corrolla XRS, Rack with hauling my 12' fishing Kayak the main objective.. Product arrived on time with free shipping, Impressed with the initial quality of the racks right out of the box. Brackets and screws seemed of good quality and up to the task, Installed racks in 35 minutes and needed nothing more than a tape measure. and they were rock solid and could grab them and shake the entire car. I did watch the installation video a couple time while waiting for them which is time well spent. Off to my friends house to pick up my Kayak that's been sitting on her lawn since last fall. Lashed it down with nothing more than a couple ratchet straps and off I went down the road at 65 with no problems. Getting use out my Yak at a third of the price and gaining a lot of utilitarian use out of the grocery getter. Also called Eretailer as the price I paid dropped some $27 from time of purchase to delivery. Rep said they would refund the difference back to my card. As of this moment haven't seen the credit but certainly hope they'll make good on that sooner later. Either way its a good product at a fair price and I would highly recommend,

Roof rack is in great shape after one year. Looking to get some help as we have lost the keys to remove. Can replacement keys be ordered?

Comments
SportRack is owned by Thule, so Thule replacement keys will work in your SportRack roof rack. Next to the key slot in the lock, there should be a 3 or 4 digit number. Use the prefix THKEYN in front of that number to find the part number of the replacement key youd need. Just type that part number in the search box on our website, and you can order the replacement key.

2010 Toyota Camry

Bought Sportrack for my 2010 Camry 4-door sedan. Previously had Thule rack for a 1998 Camry and found that the adapters to fit it to the 2010 Camry would cost about twice as much as the entire Sportrack. Sportrack was easy to install, very comparable to the Thule and in some ways better. Fit and finish is excellent. Dealing with etrailer was great.

2010 Nissan Sentra

I like the design. One of our cross members did have a significant gouge (straight out of the box) in the plastic casing that wraps the cross member but I didn't have time to return it before I needed to use it. It is pretty sturdy system overall but the clamp's design does not force each clamp to pinch as much as it should. As the clamps are tightened, they begin to stretch and slip up off of the car's overhead structure. The design should have an additional adjustment on each end that cantilevers the top of the clamp to pull out on the top which would force the bottom to pivot/ push into the car more. I was worried during our travel that it would be jolted and then slip off of its install point. So the install would require the installer to place the assembly, tighten each opposing cantilever adjustment while simultaneously and incrementally tightening the other adjustment crew for snug fit in the vertical direction.

No assembly needed - rack was fully assembled ready to place on the roof! Glad we read other customers reviews !!!!

Solid build, easy install with clear instructions. My only gripe is how far the bars extend past the doors; but this is purely cosmetic. Not as easy to mount as you would think. 2 people would have been a big help. I ended up putting a couple self tapping screws though the mounting hook to the underside of the door sill. It's not going anywhere now. Not a bad set up for the price either between the rack and the basket I have xxx invested. fair price considering the alternatives or the hassle of making my own.

Cons 1. Easy to steal you're stuff (need to change your bolt to either a Spline bolt or a Torx bolt. 2. A lot of wind noise without a wind deflector (fairing) 3. Locks are not that great. Keeps the honest people away Pros: 1. MADE IN USA. ?????? 2. Awesome at highway speeds. Tested it with my $750 Cannondale bike at 85-90mph. Normally drive at 75mph ?? 3. Looks good (to me at least, that's all I care about) 4. Thule owns the company. Thule fairing and accessories fit this rack. 5. Looks good on my car. Get a lot of compliments. I cruise a 2012 Chevy Malibu. 6. Doesn't leak water. When washing or when I'm driving in the rain. Reason for the 3 stars 1. How easy it is to steal.

I recommend a custom rack like the Rhino-Rack # RR34YR which will be more secure on the car, quieter at highway speeds and safer for your kayak....

  • Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2000 Camplite by Damon
For a Sportrack Roof Rack designed to fit your pop up camper you would want the part # SR1020. This has adjustable-length crossbars allow for a semi-custom fit to your camper's roof and can carry up to 200 lbs.

  • Fairing Recommendation for SportRack Roof Racks
The Rhino Rack Fairing part # RRRF3 is a universal fairing that could be used on the Sportrack roof rack part # SR1002 that you referenced. This is a 44 inch fairing that should work well with the 50 inch bars of the # SR1002.

  • Roof Rack Fit for 2012 Hyundai Sonata
We do have a roof rack system that fits your 2012 Hyundai Sonata, and the one I recommend is the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs # SR1002 The reason I really like this rack is because of its value; you are getting a rack that is more budget-friendly than the name-brand options but still allows you to utilize the same accessories. It isn't fancy but to get cargo from Point A to Point B it will get the job done for you. I have added a link to a video review for you to...

  • What is Meant by Naked Roof on my 2007 Honda Fit Sport?
A naked roof is a vehicle roof with no existing rails or crossbars. I've attached a photo showing tow of the different roof types for you to be able to see the difference. The other types of roof styles are Factory Roof Rack and Fixed Mounting Points. Your 2007 Honda Fit Sport has a naked roof and the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs # SR1002 is a fit for your vehicle. I have attached a review video and the rack's installation instructions for you. If you're interested...

  • Roof Rack for 2017 Chevy Spark
There is a roof rack option for your 2017 Chevy Spark but the SportRack # SR1002 is not a fit. Instead, I recommend an option from Yakima. This rack consists of the Yakima CoreBar Crossbars # Y00421, BaseLine Towers # Y00146, and Fit Kit # Y06124; you can lock this roof rack with SKS Lock Cores # Y07204. This will give you an aero roof rack that helps reduce the amount of wind noise you might otherwise encounter.

  • Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2001 Toyota RAV4
The SportRack roof rack # SR1002 is listed as a fit for your 2001 Toyota RAV4 with naked roof but it does not use those fixed mounting points. It is actually a semi-custom roof rack and would not offer the best fit so I would not recommend it over a true custom fit option. The most cost-effective, true custom fit roof rack for your RAV4 is from Inno using bars # INB117, feet # INSUT, and fit kit # INK244. It does not use those mounting points on your roof either. This rack will be a...

  • Will the SportRack Roof Rack # SR1002 Install on a 2009 Toyota Camry with a Sunroof
Yes, the SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack # SR1002 that you referenced will fit on your 2009 Toyota Camry with a sunroof. Some roof top accessories might interfere with the sunroof when it is open, but the sunroof should not affect anything regarding the installation of the roof rack. For a kayak carrier that is confirmed to fit this rack and should work well check out the SportRack Kayak Carrier part # SR5511. I attached installation instructions.

  • Inexpensive Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2012 Nissan Rogue
I checked with SportRack and none of the Frontier roof racks will fit the 2012 Nissan Rogue with a naked roof. But not to worry because I have a great recommendation for you. For an economical roof rack you can use Rhino-Rack roof rack. You will need the following parts: Vortex Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 Feet # RRRLKVA Custom DK Clamps and Pads # DK146 It costs a little more than a Frontier roof rack that won't fit your vehicle, but the Rhino-Rack roof rack is custom whereas the Frontier...

The SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack # SR1002 is a great choice in a cost-effective square bar roof rack system for your 2012 Nissan Sentra 4-Door Special Edition with a sunroof. This rack offers excellent compatibility with a wide range of rack-mount bike and kayak carriers and has a 130-lb weight capacity. I have included links for you that will show you all bike and kayaks carriers that are compatible with these square roof rack crossbars. On each page you'll find filters that let...

  • Recommended Air Screen Wind Fairing for SportRack SR1002 Roof Rack on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu
All roof racks do make noise. At highway speeds especially the least-noisy bar type is the elliptical shape, also known as an aero-style bar. These make less noise than round and square bars but they still make noise. We have a solution for your SportRack square bar rack # SR1002. We offer a fairing from SportRack's parent company, Thule, that will fit on your # SR1002 square bar roof rack. My SportRack contact suggested Thule's 44-inch AirScreen Fairing # TH82WV. This will fit well...

  • Will SportRack # SR1002 Roof Rack Fit 2012 Honda Civic EX with Sunroof
The fits of the various roof rack options offered for the 2012 Honda Civic depend on the nature of the roof on the vehicle. If your Civic is a 4-door with a naked roof (meaning no sort of roof siderails or other roof hardware) then the SportRack # SR1002 Roof Rack will fit. The rack's feet clamp to your roof and door jambs with included clips. A video is linked for your reference. This roof rack offers a 130-lb weight capacity but you can check your Civic owner's manual for any guidance...

  • Roof Rack Recommendations for a 2013 Mazda 5
We have numerous roof rack options that will fit your 2013 Mazda 5 but SportRack does not have a fit. If your Mazda 5 has the fixed mounting points on a naked roof (a naked roof has no bars or rails at all) then the most popular roof rack is from Rhino-Rack using bars # RRVA118B-2, feet # RRRLKVA, and fit kit # DK285. If your Mazda 5 has the side rails that run front to back then the most economical roof rack option is from Rhino-Rack using bars # RRVA118B-2 and foot pack # RRSX100.
