Rhino Rack Anchor Strap

These straps create permanent anchor points for tie-downs under the hood of your vehicle. To install an anchor strap at the front corner of your vehicle, remove an existing bolt that is not used to secure headlight brackets or other parts. If your vehicle doesn't have an existing bolt-down point, you may need to drill a hole. Place the eyelet of the anchor strap on top of the bolt hole and the washer on top of the eyelet. Reinsert and tighten the bolt to secure the strap.

Rhino Rack Anchor Strap for Bow

You can anchor 1 or 2 boats to your vehicle. Secure 2 boats using a single anchor for each bow/stern tie-down. Or secure 1 boat's bow at 2 points for better stability during transport. Once you've secured your tie-downs to an anchor point on your boat, thread the tie-downs through the anchor loops. When you're not using the straps, you can simply tuck them under the hood for storage.

Video Transcript for Rhino-Rack Bow/Stern Tie-Downs Vehicle Strap Anchors Review

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we are looking at the Rhino Rack vehicle strap anchors for your bow and stern tie-down points here at etrailer. Now I have to carry a lot of kayaks on different vehicles here at etrailer and my biggest issue is always trying to find a good spot for the bow and stern straps, especially here in the front. You have to look underneath the hood for the best placement, something that's not gonna interfere with your engine, but also will be strong and sturdy to keep your kayak anchored. That's what makes these super useful. These are permanent mounting anchor straps, and they'll be there anytime you need them for when you wanna carry your kayak around.

The important thing is that it's sturdy enough to tie down your kayak or your boats. So taking a look inside the strap, you have this durable black polyester webbing, so that's strong and sturdy. On the outside you have this bright blue Rhino Rack logo, and this is secured with metal grommets, as well as a metal washer inside your hood. Now these are permanently mounted, but that install process is actually really simple, you just need to find the right bolt. So let's take a look at what I did.

So what you're gonna do first is you're gonna pop open your hood and look inside for a really good mounting point. Now, ideally you should stay away from plastic and try to find something that's a little more durable, a little more sturdy, ideally metal to metal. The bolt I chose is the headlight bracket. And I'm gonna use this socket, it's size 11. Now this does depend on your vehicle.

So we'll just loosen that up. Once you have the screw out you're then gonna put the strap, and then include the washer and then put the screw back on. What I like to do, just put them all on the screw, right ahead of time, and then tighten that down. Now my recommendation is that you have your strap in the position you want it in as you tighten down, because if you get super tightened down, you can't adjust the strap anymore. So right here, I think it's perfect where it will be sticking out of the hood, ready to go.

Now this is to be used with non flexible straps, kinda like what I have here. And then you just use it to attach your bow and stern straps, kinda like that. And then this will secure your kayak. Now you have some options with tying down your bow and stern on your kayak. One option is if you have two kayaks, you can use one anchor point each. Another option is if you want a little extra stability, you can use both of those anchor points and have two of them connected to a single kayak for that extra security. Now you may be wondering why the instructions are only for the bow tie-down and not the stern. And that's because you can either use your hitch or there's other tie-down points inside the vehicle. Over here in the front this is usually more difficult to access without interfering with any of your engine parts or underneath your hood. So that's why these are pretty useful for the front. And when not in use, you just fold this strap back in as you lower the hood. And then that's it for the install. My final thoughts about these hood anchors is I do like how they are permanently mounted underneath my hood. If you're carrying around a bunch of kayaks or boats or canoes often, and it's a big thing for you, then I do recommend picking one of these up because that way they cut down on that install time. And you can focus on just getting onto the road and onto your adventures. And that was a look at our Rhino Rack vehicle strap anchors for your bow and stern tie-downs, here at etrailer. My name is Evangeline, and I hope you enjoyed the journey..

I purchased these for our 2016 Toyota 4Runner and mounted them under the hood to anchor tie downs for the bows of our kayaks. I used existing bolts under the hood. They remain under the hood when not in use. We have them for a year and they have been excellent, no problems or issues.

These are the perfect way to secure your kayak or canoe at the front of your vehicle! Shipping was so fast!

Does as advertised

Overall racks have been fine, one had nut & bolt come off had to replace from HW store

Simple idea but works well.

Love these roof/bonnet anchors. They made it very easy to tie down my kayaks and felt very secure!

These Rhino straps were just what I was looking for to secure my kayak. They arrived promptly and were just as described and pictured. These straps have a couple extra inches in length over other brands and fit my Ford Escape perfectly -- extra length easily clears the hood so that the tie-down is secure but clears the hood. So easy to install easily hides under hood when not in use.

Easy installation and tucks away under the hood when not in use. I bought them so the tie down straps wouldn't rub on my front bumper and they work perfectly. They seem pretty sturdy, I'm not worried about them breaking. I might take them off before winter though to prolong the life of the material.

Have used these in the past on another vehicle to help tie-down and secure the bow ends of large kayaks mounted on top of an SUV. This is a convenient way, inexpensive too, for securing your cargo.

Super happy with everything. The rack and Kayak holders work great. Fits great on my VW, and was super easy to install.

I needed the vehicle strap anchors to carry a kayak on my car. This is all new to me and since my Subaru has no front anchors I needed something. This turns out to be a perfect match for my needs. Simple to install under the hood of the car and strong enough for the job it will do. When not in use they simply exist under the hood. I ordered it from etrailer on Friday and got them on Monday. To me that is incredible.

My car looks great with the rack. I love it. Send it

worked as promised
