Video Transcript for Fit Test: Custom DK Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs with 2012 Honda Civic

Today on our 2012 Honda Civic, we're going to be test fitting the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System, consisting of part numbers RRVA126B-2. Those will be their cross bars. Part number RRRLKVA. Those are going to be the legs. Then part number DK319. Those are going to be the clamps that attach it to your vehicle.

We have the first the front one installed already on our vehicle. You can see it has a nice aerodynamic shape. It's going to cut down wind noise and drag. Both bars have a combined weight capacity of 165 pounds, although you want to double check with your vehicle to make sure that your roof can withstand that weight. Let's go and show you how the rear one goes on. We already have it partially assembled on our table.

We'll show you how the other end gets put together. We'll first take our leg. You can see it has this bracket here at the top. That's going to slide into this channel here. Go ahead and do that.

We'll slide that into place, and then I'm going to go ahead and put the end cap on while I'm on it, and take our tool here to lock it into place. Next, I'm going to go ahead and get my measuring tape, measure out the distance where this leg has to be set. Now these do come with strips, where you would measure it out and cut it to length, and that would be a fixed point, so you always know that's where it has to be. For today, we're just going to go ahead and measure it out. Okay. Then we'll go ahead and tighten the screw down here with the included Allen tool.

Do the same for the other side. Double check that measurement there. Okay. We're good. Next we'll go ahead and take our pad here that's going to go against the vehicle. Put that in place. Just kind of push it in. Then we'll take our clamp. Flip this around here so you can see a little bit better. Install that by first unscrewing this. Put our clamp into place. Then we'll re-insert the screw. Just loosely for now. All right. Now we're going to set this on our vehicle. Go ahead and open up the two rear doors. We'll set our cross bar into place. Now we'll go ahead and get our cross bar spread measurement. We're going to measure from center to center. You'll want to double check with your instructions to get the right measurement. Looks good about right there. We'll repeat this for the driver's side. All right. Those are relatively where we need them to be. I'm going to go ahead and make a quick adjustment here so it's kind of sitting evenly on the roof. Then we'll just loosely tighten the clamps just so they're touching the vehicle here. Just get them snug. Do the same on the other side. One we have that done, we'll actually start tightening them down. Now once we actually start tightening them down, we're going to try to do this evenly. About five or six turns each side. Some accessories you can put on these roof racks include bike racks, cargo baskets, cargo boxes, kayak carriers, and ski carriers. That's good there. Once this is tightened down, you can see how this blue handle here is curved. Once it actually tightens down, you push it in, it's going to straighten out like that, from the curve where it's at now, and that'll tell us it's ready. Final step. We're going to put our covers on, which are lockable, which will secure this to the roof of your vehicle, excuse me. There you have it for the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack System on our 2012 Honda Civic.

  • SportRack Roof Rack Does Not Fit Right on a 2013 Honda Civic Sedan
Usually when the clamps on a roof rack will not stay in place they are either in the wrong position or the installer is trying to tighten one side and then the other instead of alternating tightening a little on one side, then a little on the other, and back and forth like that until both sides are tight. I double checked with SportRack and # SR1010 is correct for a 4-door 2013 Honda Civic. But SportRack also shows # SR1002 as a fit for 2012 and 2013 Honda Civic sedans so it is possible...

  • Difficulty Installing SportRack Roof Rack on a 2013 Honda Civic Sedan
The problem you are describing happens sometimes with SEMI-custom roof racks. They are designed to fit many vehicles and so the fit is not that great on some of those vehicles. The best you can do is have someone help you install the roof rack and slowly tighten up the rack on your side while they equally tighten up the rack on their side. Since the last time we spoke I had the SportRack options removed from the fit guide for this vehicle because we suddenly had several complaints about...

  • Parts Needed to Install Rhino-Rack Roof Rack on 2013 Honda Civic Sedan
The part you mentioned is just the crossbars, and you will need a couple more things in order to mount a roof rack to your 2013 Honda Civic sedan, which are the legs and the fit kit. The crossbars will attach to the legs, and the fit kit is the custom part that is made specifically for your vehicle to allow a fit. I'll list out the exact parts you need for your '13 Civic: - Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 - Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA - Custom DK Fit Kit # DK319 You...

  • Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for 2012 Honda Civic Sedan
For your 2012 Honda Civic Sedan you would need to first start with a roof rack for a kayak carrier to attach to. I really like the Rhino Rack roof racks like the part # RRVA126B-2, # RRRLKVA and # DK319 which when used together complete a custom roof rack for your vehicle. This rack is a high quality rack like the more expensive ones but not quite as expensive. Then for carrying two kayaks the Thule Stacker part # TH830 would work well as it can carry up to 4 kayaks. I attached a review...

  • 2012 Honda Civic Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommandation
We can get him set up with exactly what he will need. Starting with the rack I really like the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero System. It offers alot of bang for the buck and the 49" crossbars will help get those kayaks loaded. The systems consist of the three following parts. Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars part # RRRLKVA Custom DK Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Roof Rack Legs part # DK319 For the carriers the etrailer...

  • Where is Rhino-Rack Roof Rack For 2013 Honda Civic Sedan Made
The Rhino-Rack roof rack that fits your 2013 Honda Civic sedan is made in Australia. The correct parts that make up the rack are the following: - Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 - Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA - Custom DK Fit Kit # DK319 You made a really nice choice with Rhino-Rack because it is the best value for a roof rack; Rhino-Rack's quality is equal to similar brands, but at a better price point because you aren't paying extra for a specific brand name...

  • Strip Measurements to Install Rhino-Rack Roof Rack on a 2015 Honda Civic Sedan
The clamp kit for your 2015 Honda Civic is # DK319. On that product page there is a link to the installation details and the strip measurements you are looking for. I have also linked the instruction details here. On the VA (Vortex) front bar the strip measurement is 216mm. The rear strip is 189mm. That should get you going!

  • Crossbar Dimensions of Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Roof Rack for 2013 Honda Civic Sedan
The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars like part # RRVA126B-2 measures 3-1/8" wide x 1-3/16" tall. This is a very standard size that will work with most roof baskets. Additionally, the Thule Canyon # TH859XT is so versatile that it works with most crossbar spreads and configurations so the fit will not be a problem. In order to use the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars on a 2013 Honda Civic Sedan you'll need the Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs part # RRRLKVA and the Custom DK Fit Kit for...

  • SportRack Roof Rack for a 2013 Honda Civic Sedan
According to the installation instructions, SportRack actually lists 2 semi-custom roof racks for the 2013 Honda Civic sedan; # SR1010 and # SR1002. I have heard of fit issues with the SR1010 so the SR1002 is likely a better fit. Of course these are semi-custom roof racks which never fit as well as a true custom fit rack. The most cost effective custom fit rack is from Rhino-Rack using the following parts: Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 Feet # RRRLKVA Custom clamp kit # DK319

  • Roof Top Storage and Three Bike Carrier Solution for 2013 Honda Civic
The Rhino Rack cargo basket part # RRRMCB03 is a great solution to carry cargo on the roof of your vehicle but does require a roof rack with crossbars installed on your 2013 Honda Civic so for that you'd want the Rhino Rack roof rack part numbers # RRVA126S-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK319 and you'd be set. Then to carry 3 bikes you'll have to use a trunk rack since the hitch options for your vehicle are limited to carrying only 2 bikes since it's a lighter duty vehicle. So for a 3 bike rack...

  • Roof Rack for a 2015 Honda Civic Touring Sedan
SportRack does not have a roof rack that fits the 2015 Honda Civic so you will not be able to install # SR1010. For the most similar roof rack in design and price for the 4-door Civic you can use a Rhino-Rack roof rack using the following parts: Crossbars # RRVA126B-2 Feet # RRRLKVA Custom clamp kit # DK319 Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual and/or Honda for the weight capacity of the roof prior to loading.

  • How to Carry 4 Bikes on a 2014 Honda Civic LX
In order to carry 4 bikes on your 2014 Honda Civic LX, you will need to have a combination for either a hitch mount rack and roof rack or trunk mount rack and roof rack. The issue is that the trailer hitches available for your car are all Class I hitches and capable of holding just 2 bikes. And the most bikes you can safely carry on a trunk mount rack is 3. The least expensive way to accomplish this is to use a trunk mount rack and roof rack combination. If the vehicle does not have...

Yes, the Rhino Rack Roof Rack that you referenced that consists of the part numbers # RRVA126B-2, # RRRLKVA, # DK319 has been confirmed to fit your 2015 Honda Civic EX Sedan so I would recommend it for your model with a moon roof.

When you install the Rhino Rack Roof Rack part numbers # RRVA126B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK319 on your 2012 Honda Civic you will need to position the front cross bar 11-3/16 inches in front of the seam where the front door meets the rear, and then the rear crossbar will need to be 27-9/16 inches from the center of the front crossbar to the rear one.

For a higher quality rack the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero System has aerodynamic crossbars to reduce drag and wind noise. The bars will also accept channel mounted accessories into C-channels.
