Today we're gonna take a look at the Derale 18" Belt Driven High Performance Aluminum Flex Fan in chrome and blue color. Now this lightweight high performance aluminum flex fan uses reinforced construction. It's a narrow blade design to give you superior air flow in tight spaces. This fan does help increase horsepower, torque, and fuel economy. Provides maximum air flow at slow speeds. Does provide extra strength and durability with the embossed chrome plated center hub, and the four rivet blade attachments.
Now the fan blades themselves, which are flexible are constructed in aluminum. Have a nice striking blue anodized finish to them, and this fan is made in the USA.A few specs on this. The flange adjustability, if you look at the center here, has the elongated holes. So it can be adjusted anywhere's from 1 3/4" to 2 1/4". The pilot hole in the middle is 5/8ths inch diameter.
Rotation on this, and it's marked right over here is standard, which means when you're facing the front of the vehicle, the fan will rotate clockwise. RPM rating on this fan is up to 80,000 RPM, and the last thing I wanna give you is the dimensions. The overall diameter from edge to edge is 18 1/4" and the total depth is gonna be 1 1/8ths inches deep. But that should do it for the review on the Derale 18" Belt Driven High Performance Aluminum Flex Fan in chrome and blue color.
this fan works and fits perfectly and it is the only one I found to be a reverse rotating
model. etrailer was a great help in finding the fan
I bought this Derale flex fan for a 1999 F350 I use for plowing. I prefer to leave the plow mounted all winter, since it's such a pain to remount in a hurry for each storm. But the stock Ford fan clutch was too weak to drive the fan with the plow mounted, and quickly burned out - after which I couldn't drive more than 30mph with the plow mounted without overheating. After a while I drilled a pin through the clutch to get a hard drive for the fan which solved the overheating problem but replaced it with a belt slippage problem - couldn't rev the engine over 3000 rpm without slipping. Finally last year I replaced the stock fan with the Derale flex fan. PROBLEM SOLVED. Now I can leave the plow on all winter, drive 75 mph without overheating, and run the engine to redline without belt slippage. PERFECT!
Quality fan, easy install. This replaced my stock fan on my 1990 Chevy pickup with 5.0 V8. I plow with this truck, so I needed a fan that moves a lot of air at slow road speeds, and this one does. I know it works because my coolant temp gage is a bit lower. Not excessively loud either.
Product is a advertised
