Roadmaster Anti-Sway Bar Installed

Benefits of an Anti-Sway System

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar does for side-to-side movement what a good pair of shocks does for up-and-down motion. You will notice a marked improvement in your vehicle's stability as the bar works to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll. The anti-sway bar acts as a link between your vehicle's frame and its rear axle, using the axle as a brace to more effectively balance the shifting weight of your vehicle as you maneuver it. Lubricated bushings allow just enough pivot and rotation to compensate for the pressure placed on one side of your vehicle when it goes into sudden maneuvers, hits crosswinds or encounters shifting weights.

Roadmaster Anti-Sway Polyurethane Bushings

Superior Construction

The Roadmaster anti-sway bar is made of black powder-coated 4140 chromoly, a chromium and molybdenum steel alloy. This type of steel is considerably harder and stronger than the standard 1020 steel that is typically used in anti-sway applications. In addition, the larger diameter of the bar increases its torsional roll stiffness. The result is a bar that is not only stronger than the competition, but also nearly 30 percent better at resisting sway. The polyurethane bushings and grommets used at the attachment points are durable yet flexible, ensuring that the system is neither so rigid nor so malleable that it becomes ineffective.

  • Sway Bars that Fit 2006 Damon Daybreak 3276 to Improve Handling
Since your 2006 Damon Daybreak 3276 is built on a Ford chassis with a 20,500 lb GVWR the correct rear sway bar is the part # RM-1139-143. This will do a really good job getting rid of the sway and keeping the motorhome on the road without requiring over corrections. To help with the bumps and also improve handling the SumoSprings part # SSF-171-40-2 would be what you'd want for the front and then # SSR-187-54-1 for the rear.

The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1139-143 that you referenced is designed to work with a factory sway bar and not replace it. For more information on this sway bar check out the review video and install instructions link I attached.

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement and Steering Stabilizer for 2018 Jayco Alante 26X
To smooth out the ride on your 2018 Jayco Alante 26X I recommend the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs # SSR-184-40-1, which are a fit for your Jayco that is built on a Ford F-53 chassis. The SumoSprings will compress vertically which will help absorb the bumps; they are also going to help reduce the amount of sway and body roll of your RV to further enhance the driving experience of your Jayco. A steering stabilizer will also let you enjoy your travels more by helping you stay...

  • Comparing Anti-Sway Bars and Axle Stabilizers for an RV on a 2014 Ford F-53 Chassis
Anti-sway bars and axle stabilizers are similar but they do different things. An anti-sway bar helps more with body roll which is that tilting side to side motion whereas an axle stabilizer helps for with the tail-wag motion. Both are going to make the RV more stable and more pleasant to drive. You can use both but if you wanted to try just one first I would recommend the anti-sway bar. For a the 2014 Ford F-53 chassis # RM-1139-143 fits RVs that are less than 34 feet long. Check to ensure...

  • Installing Extended U-bolts for Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar 1139-143 on 2004 F-53 Chassis
The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar for Motorhomes # RM-1139-143 can use your factory u-bolts if they are long enough. If they are not, then Roadmaster recommends using the 7/8 inch diameter u-bolts that are longer (most likely the larger diameter due to length needed to ensure strength). I've attached a couple photos from the installation instructions to assist with the size and torque. When torque specs are so large either a large special torque wrench is required or installers are...

  • Steering Stabilizer for a 2004 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 36PST
It looks like your 2004 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 36PST was built on a Roadmaster chassis. if the chassis is the Air Ride or Monaco model (except with Dana Spicer front axle) you would need to use steering stabilizer # RM-RBK6-RSSA. If it is a model with a straight axle with leaf spring suspension use # RM-RBK8-RSSA. You can verify the chassis by providing the VIN number to Holliday Rambler.

According to my research, your Newmar Kountry Star uses a Workhorse W-22 chassis, which would use the # RM-1259-108 Rear Anti-Sway Bar. Unless your motorhome uses a Firestone Ride-Rite air suspension kit, everything needed to install the Roadmaster anti-sway bar is included. If your motorhome does use the Firestone Ride Rite air suspension, an additional bracket kit, part # RM-590054-00 will need to be welded to the bottom of the air bag bracket. Actually for your W22 chassis RV the correct rear sway bar would be the # RM-1259-109 for if you are 33 feet or longer or part # RM-1259-108 for if you are shorter than that. There will be some drilling required for installation. I attached instructions for both products for you to check out as well.

The most effective modification you can make to an RV to help with stability is a rear sway bar. For that you would want the part # RM-1139-143 for your 2015 Ford F53 Chassis. This will greatly reduce sway, body roll, and weight transfer. If that doesn't get you the handling you are looking for the front sway bar would be next. For that you would want the part # RM-1139-148. This will also reduce sway, body roll and weight transfer. Steering stabilizers are great too for helping to reduce...

  • Improving the Ride Quality of an RV Built on a 2005 Workhorse W22 Chassis
Yes! Probably the single best addition you can make to provide better handling in your RV would be to install a rear anti-sway bar. Helper springs treat the symptom but not the cause like an anti-sway bar would. There are 2 rear sway bar options for your 2005 Workhorse W22: # RM-1259-108 and # RM-1259-109 (for applications 33 feet or longer). This will add a sway bar to the rear of your suspension to reduce sway and provide better stability when turning. First you will want to check your U-Bolts on your rear axle to determine if they are going to be long enough to allow for the sway bar. A 1/2" thick plate will need to be added to the U-bolts. • Sway Bar and Stabilizer Recommendation for a 2004 Monaco Monarch to Prevent Wander and Sway
The front sway bar you bought for your 2004 Ford F-53 is a great place to start to improve the handling and sway of your 2004 31 foot Monaco Monarch. But if your shocks are bad it won't compensate for that. Typically the best way to combat an RV that wants to wander as you are driving is a steering stabilizer like the part # RM-RBK4-RSSA which is a confirmed fit. For body roll and sway a rear sway bar will make the most difference. Roadmaster recommends this as the first line of defense...

The flack plate/bracket should indeed have the bushings facing towards the front of the vehicle. I included an image showing this as well. As to drilling the holes for the shackle bracket, I don't really have a way to make that easier, unfortunately.
