Video Transcript for Rear View Safety Backup Camera System Spec Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System with the 2 Camera Setup. Now, this two-camera backup system is complete with the 7" LED color monitor, the pedestal mount, a U-bracket mount for the monitor, remote control, has the two-color infrared weatherproof cameras, one power harness, two 66' long camera cable, and then the mounting hardware and a nice instruction manual. Now, we'll start with the monitor itself. The monitor, it's a 7" LED color monitor. It comes with a super sharp digital display and a pixel resolution of 800 x 480. The buttons at the bottom here are backlit, so they will illuminate in the dark.

It does have an auto-dimming feature, which will dim the screen in low light conditions. It does offer distance gridlines that'll come standard with the monitor. It is optional and adjustable, so you can turn them on or off and you can adjust them. It does use a built-in speaker, and its menu can be navigated with the on-dash buttons here or with the included remote. The sunshade on it is removable. If you don't want it on there, you can just pop it right off.

Again, we mentioned the mounts it comes with, the pedestal mounts that you just slide on and then adjust it to whatever position you need, or the U-bracket mount. Now, the backup cameras comes with two of them. These are a sharp CCD color camera. They're built with heavy-duty zinc metal, which will encase the 2 1/2 mm less. They weigh about 22 oz and they are a commercial grade build. It does use a built-in microphone.

These cameras have a viewing angle of 130 degrees and 620 TV lines, which means you'll get the best quality image with no blind spots. It does use infrared lights. There's 18 of them on each camera, allows you to see up to 50 ft even in the darkest of night. They do put a foam around the lens that'll guarantee no glare from the infrared lights. They do beat a IP69K rating.

So this camera will be fit to ride out any storm and it boasts a 20 G vibration rating. Has an adjustable sunshade you can see right up at the top here. It does come equipped with aircraft-grade cable connectors. Now, this system has two viewing options. The camera view can be triggered when the vehicle's put into reverse or you can do it so it'll remain on continuously. With the built-in system memory, this innovative system will automatically save prev option settings even after it's turned off. Last thing I want to do is give you a few dimensions on this. Overall width on the monitor is right at 7". Overall height on it is right at 5 1/4" tall. The total depth, not including the sunshade, is going to be right at about 1" deep. The camera themselves, they are going to measure about 3" wide. Height on those are going to be right at 3 1/4" tall. Overall depth on the camera is about 2". But that should do it for the review on the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System with the 2 Camera Setup.

Exactly what I needed for our venerable 2003 Jayco travel trailer. 3D printed a very neat unit that holds the display and fits into a “sunglasses pocket” on the top of the dashboard of our Chevy Colorado pickup.

by:

I have done business with etrailer for over 5 years. In every case I have found their pricing to be fair and their customer service to be excellent.

by:

superior upgrade for us. would have been 5 star but the installation and usage instructions are almost worthless. 8^)

This is an awesome camera setup. I installed this on a 2012 Chevy Express cargo van. I mounted the camera to the top of the 3rd brake light cover and drilled a 3/4" hole to hold the included rubber grommet for the camera wiring. The wiring was simple, I found a fuse that is tied into the ignition switch and used a fuse tap to supply the minimal amps needed. I wired it so the camera is on whenever the vehicle is running, to act as the rear view mirror since the van has no rear windows. This is a high-quality kit and I am very happy with it.

  • Truck Bed Camera for 2017 Ford F-350 That Works on Factory Monitor
There is absolutely a camera system that will work with the factory monitor on your 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty, and the correct one will simply depend on the size of your factory monitor: - Truck Bed Cargo Camera for 8" Factory Monitor # 3460001 - Truck Bed Cargo Camera for 4.2" Factory Monitor # 3460002 Each of these cameras will install under your F-350's third brake light and comes with a switch kit so you can switch between your truck's back-up camera or this observation camera. • Can Backup Camera be Wired to Something Other Than Reverse Lights so it is Always on
You can wire a backup camera, like the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-770614, to a different function so that it stays on all of the time. This is actually a common solution that even the manufacturers recommend for customers. If your taillights turn on when you start the vehicle, then running the wire to one of your taillights for power is a very viable option. Running it to the brake light function is probably not the best solution as that means it will only receive power...

  • Recommended Two Camera Observation System for Forklift Hyster
For your forklift application, I recommend the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - 2 Camera Setup # RVS-770614. This will give you the two cameras that are adjustable and include a sun shade and the monitor so you can get a better view. The cameras are hardwired and give you night vision for dark areas. The monitor also gives you the option of grid lines to assist. I've attached some videos to assist. The price is shown on the product page. The time to install will be dependent...

  • Recommended In-Bed Camera System for 2020 Ford F350 With Existing Back Up Camera System
It sure is possible! Take a look at the camera systems from GCH Automotive Systems. The camera is compatible with your existing camera system, but the specific camera you need will depend on the size (measured diagonally) of your factory monitor. Use # 3460001 for an 8 inch factory monitor, # 3460002 for the 4.2 inch factory monitor. The kits include a switch that lets you toggle back and forth from the tailgate camera to the in-bed camera as needed. If you don't have a reverse camera...

  • Rearview Safety Backup Camera Kit Recommendation with Quick Disconnects for Use with Trailer
There's actually a version of the Rearview Safety Backup Camera kit part # RVS-770614 that comes with a quick disconnect kit for trailer applications like what you mentioned. For that you'd want the part # RVS-770614-213 instead. I attached a picture of what the quick disconnects look like as well. These allow you to easily disconnect the camera wiring of the trailer from the vehicle.

  • Wired Rear View Camera System Recommendation for Rear of Travel Trailer
To alleviate the possiblity of interference a wired camera setup will be your best option like you mentioned. For a single camera version of the kit you mentioned the Rear View Safety Camera kit part # RVS-770613-NM would be a great option. You'll also want the extension cable to use from the monitor to the rear of the vehicle like part # RVS-101N so that you can then have a quick disconnect when connecting or disconnecting your trailer. The Wheel Masters Eagle Vision Universal Towing Mirrors # WM6600-2 are a universal fit so you will be able to install them on your 2016 Toyota Highlander, and they will be a lot more stable that the basic clamp on towing mirrors you tried. Since there are no Custom fit mirrors available for your vehicle I recommend going with the # WM6600-2 as they are the most secure option available. • Can Peak Performance Digital Wireless Backup Camera be Wired for Observation
You can indeed wire the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-770614 that you referenced to a different circuit like your license plate lights. This will allow the unit to power on with your running lights so that you can use it as an observation system instead of just a backup camera. This system includes a nice 7 inch LED color monitor and 2 color CCD cameras with 50 foot infrared night vision. I have attached the installation instructions along with a short video demonstration...

  • Recommended RVS Backup Camera System with Large Monitor for Easy Viewing
Our range of backup cameras appears on the page I linked for you. These include both wired and wireless systems that come with monitors of varying sizes. The one I often recommend is the Rear View Safety # RVS-770614 which I like because of its 7-inch Digital LED color monitor. This monitor is much easier to use than the fairly small ones found on other systems. When you need to see what's behind you with a quick glance the larger monitor really makes things easier. Plus this is a 2-camera...

  • What Do V1, V2, and V3 Wires of RVS Camera System Do
Hey Scott, so yeah the instructions for the Rear View Safety Observation System part # RVS-770614 are pretty bad in terms of wiring but the V1, V2, and V3 wires are power wires for the different cameras. The actual power wires that run to the camera are in the 5 pin harness that runs directly to the camera though. The V wires are where the power is drawn from.

  • Troubleshooting RV Camera System Where Camera Won't Activate and Running Lights aren't On
It's pretty common for RV camera systems to use the running light circuit as the power source for the camera. If the lights at the rear of the RV aren't working and therefore not letting the camera function it's most likely a wiring issue. I wish I could tell you exactly where the problem is but you'd want to trace the wiring from the lights that aren't working to where the wires converge and then look for any cut or exposed wire and fix as needed.

  • Could Backup Camera Activate with Brake Pedal
If you wanted to wire up a backup camera to come on every time you put on the brakes it's definitely possible to do that and have it come on when you are in reverse. It might get somewhat annoying at night with the monitor coming off and on but it would just be a matter of running the two wires to the same circuit like you mentioned.

  • Does the Backup Camera Mount On a Trailer Need Additional Support for Installation
I have never personally heard of a rear view camera on a trailer falling off that was properly secured before due to road vibrations. That said, you shouldn't need any additional support or backing plates as the aluminum siding should hold just fine. If you like, you can replace the screws with bolts and then use nyloc nuts to hold them tight but I again don't really even think this will be necessary. If you follow the manufactures installation instructions for the camera system you should...

There isn't one all encompassing kit that I'm aware of, so I'd recommend using a two camera setup like the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-770614 and adding a third camera with # VGR84VR. Since we do not currently carry any Sync4 compatible cameras and you have a truck bed camper I recommend the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - 2 Camera Setup # RVS-770614. You can mount it to the back and front of your camper for a much better view than the smaller license plate mounted cameras. The 7" monitor will allow you to display one camera or both at the same time and gives you a 130-Degree viewing angle.

  • How are Cameras of Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - 2 Camera Setup Wired
The cameras of the RVS camera kit part # RVS-770614 only need a power and ground wire ran to them and they can be viewed at any time by selecting them from the menu. Or you can also run one of the three trigger wires to a circuit that you'd like to have them come on. Typically people will use turn signals if their cameras are side view cameras, reverse light if for a backup view, or to the running lights so that you can easily flip it on by turning on the vehicle running lights.

When it comes to the circuit breaker # 9510 that was mentioned when wiring into a switch like the # D16740, this is more of a precautionary measure to help protect the electrical components in the system, as well as the switch that is being used in the event of an electrical malfunction. If you don't want to use that circuit you could use a switched circuit instead but the camera would not come on automatically which makes it less convenient. Tapping into the reverse light circuit won't void the warranty of the vehicle though. It does not draw any amperage from this circuit so the risk for damage is almost non-existent.
