When you’re loading up gear for a weekend trip or a long haul, you want bars that can handle serious weight. These Rhino-Rack Heavy Duty crossbars are built from aluminum and rated for a 220 lbs capacity, so they stay solid under kayaks, lumber, or camping gear. They’re strong without being bulky and keep their shape through repeated use and rough conditions.
If you like using contractor-grade or channel-mount accessories, these bars make setup simple. Each bar has a top channel that works with Rhino-Rack Heavy Duty accessories, including load stops, eyebolts, and ladder rollers. The channels give you flexibility for different mounts while keeping everything locked in tight across the 50" bar space.
The integrated rubber strips inside the top channels add a layer of grip that helps keep gear from sliding and cushions it against road vibration. Whether you’re hauling paddleboards to the lake or tools to the jobsite, that extra traction helps everything stay put and protected.
Each leg in the 2500 Series setup connects firmly to your roof and secures under lockable cover plates. Once locked down, the rack stays put through long drives or rough roads. The custom fit system ensures everything aligns properly for a dependable mount every time.
These crossbars include Rhino-Rack’s limited lifetime warranty, while the legs and fit kit carry 5-year limited coverage. With durable aluminum construction and solid hardware, this setup is made to stay strong through years of hauling adventures.
Ratings & Reviews
Bought it for a 2009 honda fit sport. Used it with the cargo bag. The road trip was not long, so it was ok. Stored it away for now, but will definitely reinstall when they need arises.
The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.
Two items I received surprised me when I unpacked the box were the rails because they were not black like I saw in the picture, and the rubber insert that I am having a hard time sliding in the rail. Should this rubber insert have come already installed in the rail or is there a top on how to put in with ease?
Well engineered rack that fits my Ram 2500 crew cab well. A bit of wind noise at highway speeds. I have the heavy duty cross pieces with a square cross section.
This is my second Rhino-Rack. They go on very easily and hold the bikes/kayaks and even an extension ladder very well....thanks for a great product
Whenever I do research on a product or service, I check out what kind of negative comments are being said about that product or service. There wasn't a lot of negative comments about this product. I found most of the negatives to be very minor, and the one that was 'kind of' a consensus was that the instructions were difficult to follow. I'm not a smart person, and my reading comprehension is atrocious, but I took my time, and it was the easiest surf rack installation I've ever done.
This rack worked out great... I installed in on a 2017 Ford F-150. We drove 6 hrs through wind and rain with a SUP and Tandem Kayak on top. It really took a beating in a storm the whole way. One bracket was a little loose and shifted because of the wind on the Kayak, but it held together. Super happy with Rhino rack!
This kit is easy to slap on and sturdy enough to balance my skis and snowboards. I recently used the Rhino Rack on a three hour drive to a ski resort and had no issues.
The product is high quality and perfect for the 2013 Honda Fit Sport. The assembly is easy and fun. Read or watch the instructions first to avoid wasting time. The initial fitting on the roof is a bit finicky, but you only have to do it once. Use the included arrow decals and R & R is a breeze.
etrailer shipping was fast and their price was unbeatable. The follow-up emails were appreciated. Thanks for getting me out on my kayak again!
I was in a roof rack jam. There was a national shortage of the rack I needed for my car and our summer vacation was a week away. I went to etrailer.com when I couldnt find the roof rack anywhere else on the web. Another website actually suggested that they might have what I needed.
I spoke to Ashley E on the phone to make sure that I was picking the right parts. Ashley was very helpful and knowledgable. She helped me find the right roof rack and made sure that I received it in record time. I am a customer for life!!!
I ordered this package along with the Rhino Roof Rack with Aero Crossbars; the specs provided by eTrailer made assembly completely trouble-free. Mounting the rack on my particular vehicle (Honda FIT) for the first time took precision; but future mounting will be completely effortless with the markings.
What's more, delivery of my purchase was FAST and FREE. I placed my order on a Wednesday; it was shipped on Thursday and I had my order by Monday (particularly important in my case - since I was going camping that following weekend).
Very happy with purchase.
Rhino rack systems are really well-made & once you understand the instructions, it all goes together very smoothly. I’m knocking one star because both the instructions for ordering the fitting sets to fit vehicles AND the instructions for fit kits are needlessly confusing. I ordered a set for an ‘09 Corolla. I’m a handy guy; I’ve designed & built all manner of stuff. Rhino folks: design an online menu with clear menu choices to determine fit measurements for *one make/model*; those paper charts are baffling! Figuring out how they intersected with instructions took more time to understand than the actual assembly! Hire a UX specialist & have them redesign the whole fitting/instructions landscape. Got it in the end, but man, these make cabinet sets from Ikea look easy-peasy… and it doesn’t have to be that way! Everyone: installation is actually easier than the instructions.
The Rhino Rack fits my 2009 Honda Fit perfectly and I am impressed with the construction and apparent durability. I am able to attach my L-shaped kayak brackets and travel safely to my destination. I recommend this product to others looking for a reliable rack but scared off by the high prices at Thule and Yakima. The only problem I had was with the crossbar endcaps. A key is required to lock them safely in place. The plastic key was delivered in the runner space in the crossbar and no mention was made of this in the instructions. Subsequently I did not identify them as the required keys and had to contact the manufacturer for clarification. The pictures of the crossbars on the product packaging and in the installation instructions were different than the endcaps I received. Once this was resolved all proceeded smoothly. I recommend this rack to all.
I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
Just wanted to provide some feedback on the installation of the Rhino rack
rack and the Curt basket for my 2013 honda fit.
1) the roof rack went together easily- clear instructions, all the correct
parts etc. All Good
2) the basket is another story. Poor instructions at best! Poor hardware!
3) Roof rack spacing instructions tell you to place the bars 16.92" apart (
700mm-270mm=430mm )
For the basket clamps to line up with the rack bars, the rear bar needs to
move approximately 2" in order for the clamps to seat correctly on the rack
bars.
Basket instructions indicate the centers of the clamps must be 15, 22, or 29
inches apart for correct alignment.
I realize that the basket is a universal design, but the hardware just
sucks!
It would be nice if your company offered a mounting kit for this that worked
better.
Great service fast delivery all in all.
Ordered a Rhino Rack for my 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Rack arrived in very good shape and all items were there. Installing at this time and see no problems ahead.
Great product everything fit perfectly. With the heavy duty bars almost all the hardware for anything you put on the rack is too short
Takes a little while to assemble the rack bars.
The stickers are great I can mark the positions after measuring the distance between the bars.
One of the screws is underneath the bar; it is hard to reach to tighten the bars.
Finally, I got the roof rack installed and it looks good.
Thanks to Etrailer, I am ready to do some serious summer exploring with my 2013 Mazda 3! Rhino Racks, Malone top box, and Kuat bike rack!
love it, no problem and easy to install and take on and off, 47,000 miles on the highway and not a single issue. I even like the song the ladder hums to me driving down the interstate. This is my second Rhino and both have preformed to a high standard.
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.
I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
Thanks to etrailer, I am ready to do some serious summer exploring with my 2013 Mazda 3! Rhino Racks, Malone top box, and Kuat bike rack!
