Back in the day, Thule actually used to make the Sport Rack cargo boxes, and luckily, they still use the same keys and key codes for their current carriers.   Hey Annie, thanks for the pictures. I do not have a replacement 25003 for your Sportrack Ski Box. I've never actually seen a 5 digit lock cylinder number either on the SportRack boxes. They're usually 3 digit numbers with a letter like E003, which would mean you can use the replacement key item # THKEYN003. If you find a different lock number let me know. My only solution for replacing a 25003 would be to check with a local locksmith because I didn't see any options for replacements online....

  With new Thule keys sometimes you have to run the key in and out a few times and wiggle it around a bit to get them to turn correctly. The problem is there is sometimes a tiny bit of extra metal on the keys that needs to be worn off by wiggling the key around. I spoke to my contact at Thule to confirm this and she informed me that this is a fairly common problem, but that you will be able to fix it.

  If you recently purchased a new replacement key for your Thule lock then the issues you're having aren't terribly uncommon. With a brand new key it might just take wiggling the key around inside the lock core a bit to get it to turn. You might also want to try and apply a spray lubricant like WD40 inside the lock core and let it sit for a bit before trying the key again in case there's some debris or corrosion inside the locking mechanism that's preventing it from engaging. You can try using needle nose pliers to remove the fragment of the broken key. If this is not possible you will need to drill out the lock core to allow it to be replaced with part # THLOCKN003. To install the new lock core you will use Universal Change Key for Thule Locks # 853-1251 which is shown in the linked video.
