Hi, neighbors. Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at a replacement Tailgate Lock for the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgates. So folks, this is one replacement lock cylinder with two keys included, and it's gonna give you a nice lock cylinder replacement for that Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgates. You get one lock and two matching keys to the lock. Very simple to use.

It's locked, unlocked, then it can spin. So very simple product here today, folks. It's got the retainer nut and everything for install with the rubber gasket behind there. And again, this will work with the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgates. So there's a lot of different item numbers on our website that those fit.

After the 2nd lock on my 2008 Nissan Frontier pickup failed, I decided I needed something more substantial. The problem with the stock mechanism is that it is all plastic where the lock is concerned. Anyone with a small hammer or rock can punch the lock mechanism off of the plastic mount, then push the gate unlocked with a finger in the lock's now empty hole. This product replaces that fragile mechanism with something more secure. I had to create my own piece for the end of the bracket that swivels the gate lock, but that wasn't too difficult with the use of a vise, a hammer and pliers, and a welder.

I really only needed the plastic black clip in the rear of the lock. But i went ahead and switched out the whole thing. Awesome product, i will reach out again to etrailer for future purchases. Im currently active duty Navy in San Diego, California and dont really use my f250 to its full potential. But i will be moving back to Texas once i complete my 20 years, and then ill modify the truck to its fullest. Thank you for your time and reaching out about the product.

nice lock and easy set up the reason I didn't give it a 5 star is the lock keys are universal. I didn't need to change lock out because I lost keys old lock was fine so now I have 2 locks

Replacement Keys for Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate
Hi John; we don't have replacement keys so you will have to replace the entire lock. The Replacement Tailgate Lock for Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate # 7455-415 comes with a new lock and a set of keys. At least one customer said the new keys matched their old lock so you may not have to use the new lock. If they don't match, you can drill out the old lock and install the new one.

Since WD 40 did not work to unfreeze your Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate # VG-04-4000, likely the simplest fix will be to replace the lock in the tailgate. Stromberg Carlson offers the Replacement Tailgate Lock for Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Tailgate # 7455-415. This lock is designed as a replacement for the lock in your # VG-04-4000 tailgate.

Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate Will Not Open
If the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate part # VG-97-4000 will not unlock then you will need to remove the cover from the back, take off the prop rods from each side of the slide bar, and then turn the lock by hand. Once you have the tailgate open remove then end pieces to make sure the cables are attached correctly. If the lock ends up being the culprit we have the Replacement Tailgate Lock for Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate part # 7455-415.
