Video Transcript for Review of the Pintle Hook Mounting Plate for 2" Hitches

Today we'll be reviewing part number 63059. This is the Pintle Hook Mount from Tow-Ready. The Pintle Hook Mount slides into a 2-inch by 2-inch trailer hitch receiver to provide a good mounting location for a Pintle hook. It's going to feature a nice solid shank for added strength. This is made from a steel construction with a powder-coat finish, so it is going to stand up really well against rust and corrosion. This portion here is going to be the portion that slides into your 2-inch by 2-inch hitch. You're going to slide it in until your pin holes align up with one another and then you'll need to install the hitch pin and clip or a hitch pin and lock, and those items are going to be sold separately.

This is going to offer a capacity of 12,000 pounds with a maximum tounge weight of 1,200 pounds. It is designed to fit a 2-inch by 2-inch trailer hitch receiver. If we take a measurement of the shank length, measuring from the center of the hitch pin hole to the front of the mounting plate, that's going to give us a measurement of 11 and 3/8 of an inch. If we measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of our shank, that's going to give us a measurement of 3 and 1/4 of an inch. Here at the front, our plate is going to measure 7 1/2 inches tall by 5 inches wide. If we measure the whole spacing horizontally from center on center, it's going to give us a measurement of 3 and 3/8 of an inch and then vertically, center on center, it's going to measure an inch and 3/4. You're going to have four sets of holes.

The hole diameters are going to measure 17/32 of an inch. Another measurement, real quick, is from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the brace, and I'm going to measure to the bottom of the weld, and that measurement's going to give us about 7 inches to this point here. You can use this in either position, whether it's with the brace on top or if you need to install it in this position, either one would be fine. It's really simple to attach a Pintle hook to. All you have to do is take your Pintle hook, and these are going to be sold separately, and then you just have to line it up with the set of holes that you want to use, place all your hardware through and then secure it with the lock washer and the nut on the back of the bolt. It's also a really simple installation into the hitch. The shank is going to slide in and then you've just got to line up your pin holes.

Then you'll need to secure it using the hitch pin and clip or a hitch pin and lock. For our demonstration today I'm using the standard 5/8-inch pin and clip. It's going to found on our website using part number PC3. Once you have it secured inside your hitch, all you need to do is make your connection and you'll be set to go. That's going to do it for our review of part number 63059. This is the Pintle Hook Mount from Tow-Ready.

I have attached a photo of the Tow Ready Pintle Hook Mount, part # 63059 with several measurements noted. • Will The Curt Class V 2 Inch Hitch # C15445 Fit A 2011 Ford F450 Cab And Chassis
The Curt Class V 2 Inch Hitch # C15445 is listed to fit a 2011 Ford F-450 Cab and Chassis with 34 inch wide frame. I am sending a link to the installation instructions of the Curt hitch. If you will be needing a pintle hook mount with a long shank I would recommend the Tow Ready Pintle Hook Mount # 63059. This mount will have a shank length of 11-3/8 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the shank. You will also need the pintle hook and ball combo that will bolt...

  • Weight ratings of Adjustable Pintle Mounts
The ratings of the Pintle Mounts (see link) are determined by the manufacturer. Some manufacturers use computer aided design testing for their ratings and some manufacturers use actual physical testing to determine the ratings of their towing equipment. These differences in testing along with the quality of the steel and the manufacturing process all play a part in the ratings of towing equipment. I know that that does not really answer your question but it is the best I have. If an item...

  • Availability of a Pintle Hook Mounting Plate Rated for 10,000 Pounds
The capacity of the Pintle Hook Mount, # 63058, is 8,000 pounds maximum no matter how it is mounted. Any more weight on it than that could cause the unit to fail and would void the warranty. We have a cushioned mount with 10 holes rated for 10,000 pounds, # AMPC3. I have included a link to a video review for you. There is also a 7-1/2 inch tall Tow Ready model, # 63059, rated for 12,000 pounds. These 2 options are going to get you the closest to the height of the 8K model with the capacity...

  • Determining Towing Capacity when Using B and W Pintle Mounting Plate # BWPMHD14005
With towing capacities you are always limited by the lowest rated component in your towing setup. Since the B&W Pintle Hook Mounting Plate # BWPMHD14005 has a 16,000 lb towing capacity and is lower than your flat bed capacity it would be the capacity you'd need to abide by between the two. You should also check the towing capacity of your truck and make sure not to exceed that figure either. We have the bolt on Pintle Hook part # C48210 too which has more capacity than you'd ever need...
