Question:
Wondering why the gtw ratings of the curt e24 is less than the 63059 same exact item, the curt has a 10k rating. Really confused, some of these have a 15k and 20k ratings depending on what site you go to.

The ratings of the Pintle Mounts (see link) are determined by the manufacturer. Some manufacturers use computer aided design testing for their ratings and some manufacturers use actual physical testing to determine the ratings of their towing equipment. These differences in testing along with the quality of the steel and the manufacturing process all play a part in the ratings of towing equipment.
I know that that does not really answer your question but it is the best I have. If an item is rated at 12,000 pounds then it will be safe to tow up to that amount as long as all of the other components in the system are rated to tow at least that amount. If another site is stating that the same part has a different rating than what the manufacturer states then I would be wary of all of the ratings on that site. We only use the manufacturers stated weight ratings on our products.
