Video Transcript for 2013 Volvo XC60 CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror: Complete Installation

Adam: Hi everyone. Adam with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Cipa clip on universal towing mirror on our 2013 Volvo XC60. Not only is this going to allow you to see those longer loads you may be hauling, it's also going to widen your view, eliminating all of those blind spots that your factory mirrors may not be able to show you. It's going to give you a lot of peace of mind going down the road and just keep everybody safe.So we are going to get a rectangular mirror that is going to be able to rotate 360 degrees, and also pivot right left and up and down. So you can have it on multiple different orientations.

You can have it sideways like so or have it upright, like you see here. Whatever you need, this mirror will definitely be able to help you out. So we are going to be able to fold these mirrors in just like we we're if we didn't have these installed. We do have a little bit of contact, but it does get what we need. And that is to cut down on the vehicle width. So we do have a soft durable rubber strap that's going to protect the paint on your factory mirrors.

These are a little bit simpler compared to the ratchet strap style on some of the other mirrors. It's really simple, and it is a firm fit. So this does come with a set of one or a pair of two. It's the same exact installation process on both sides. So let's just go ahead and do it together.

First thing you want to do is make this adjustment on the back to make the width whatever your Volvo needs. Once you get that done, you just slide it on your mirror like so. And then you can start strapping in your rubber straps. And once you get the last one done and everything's nice and secure, you're ready to hit the road. Well, thanks for watching. This was the Cipa clip on universal towing mirror on our 2013 Volvo XC60..

This mirror is absolute junk. The straps held firm but the plastic arms didn't fit my Palisade like promised. It vibrates horribly while driving. The slot that holds the mirror from moving was immediately rounded out during the initial adjustment. Then it started to work its way out of adjustment. When I tried to re-adjust it I noticed the thumb screw was moving. that's not good . I used it one time and all I can say is do not buy. It is far from Universal. I'd give it zero Stars if I could. I have had fitted cipa mirrors and they worked well
Stay away from the plastic strap ons.

These work great towing a 24 foot travel trailer with no issues

I no longer own this item, I left it with the travel trailer when I sold that in June of 2021. The item worked but I still rate it as only an average item.

Horrible design. These were suggested for my 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness, but the straps are barely long enough to wrap around the mirror. With only one "bump" catching, they are not stable while driving. Also, the mirrors themselves readjust in the wind on the highway rendering them useless since the end up aiming at the sky.The mounts are meant to hold onto the cars mirror casings, but the Subaru mirrors fill that space so the tabs the are meant to grab on interfere with the main Subaru mirror.
I removed these one hour into my trip.

Works great! I do recommend attaching a couple zip ties to mirror body in case the rubber straps break away so you do t lose the mirror down the road.

I think the extra security with the zip ties is a clever idea :) What do you tow with your mirrors?

by:
Just received them yesterday and haven't used them yet. They are replacement for similar mirrors I had. Last trip 1 of my mirrors was stolen off my truck so I needed replacements. They are very good price compared to others I've looked at. I have ordered several items from etrailer and all are of very good quality.

Hard to keep straps correctly on the mirror, not impressed. The jeep Wagoneer is the highest rated suv for towing, 10,000 lbs. you would think they would make some totally enclosed slip on for the best towing suv . Terrible ease of installation technique. I may return these
Crummy mirror.

These mirrors should not have been advertised as a fit for the Jeep Gladiators. The stock mirrors on the Jeep are to narrow for a good fit for the straps to hold them on. I actually had one of the mirrors fly off going down the road. Also, they aren't long enough to give you a good extension to see down the side of an RV trailer. Very disappointed in this product, have never before had an issue with Etrailer. Not to mention I spent extra money to expedite delivery.
by:
Mirrors work good. Needed to grind down a clip so it does no put excessive pressure on my factory mirrors.
by:
Mirrors arrived quickly and were package well. Mirrors seem to fit my 2024 Ranger well!

Tow mirrors work great. They are easy to install and to remove. They used on my 2024 Ford Ranger when I tow my boat.

The company was fast and gave lots of updates for shipping. Once i received product my concerns were met. The straps are BARELY long enough to connect around my mirror. Once it is straped properly the tension on straps pulls them right out of the retaining clip. I ordered these because i have a 11 silverado just like what was in the product pictures. Save your money and get something else because theres no way these will make it down the highway they will barely stay on just sitting here. Kinda disappointed because i bout these for our first camping trip this weekend but these will not work. Seems like a good company just crappy product.

Wow, I personally have never seen anything like this before, the way the strap just comes off like that. I am wondering if part # CTM1600 is a better fit for you. It attaches in a completely different manner and doesnt use the straps like these mirrors do. Let me know what you think!

by:
They shook pretty aggressively in the wind which made seeing through them fairly difficult, but what what made for the two star review was the short life of the clasps. Halfway home on its first trip I was rolling my window down to grab onto the mirror after one of the clasps broke. It’s either so tight you’re afraid the strap is going to break or so loose it works its way off the mirror. Perfect for a one-size-fits-none product.

Purchased a pair for our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee towing a nuCamp 400 from FL to AK and back. Three months and around 16k miles.
Pros - other than an adjustment the second day, I never had to adjust the tension straps again. They were easy to mount and did not interfere with our mirrors folding inward. They weathered three months on the road without issue though I was beginning to worry about the straps becoming brittle. I noticed this once I removed them. Had I kept them, I would have used some silicon to rejuvenate the rubber.
Cons - the only con is they shake. They shake to the point that sometimes I couldn't distinguish what exactly was behind me. I knew there was a vehicle, but the distortion from the vibration prohibited me from getting a clear view of exactly what was behind us.
Impressions - they worked for our trip but I knew I would want something else for our next long trip, so we invested in a Furrion Reviewing Camera.

Ordered for 2015 Cadillac Escalade. Unfortunately I couldn't find an exact fit so had to order generic. These fit OK but seem loose and not very secure. If you have an 8.5" wide trailer, these are not quite wide enough to see the back corner of trailer when straight.
by:
So-so construction and design. With one modification they're more than acceptable. The arms and straps will slip and loosen if installed on triangular or tapered housings. Mirrors that have backs nearly parallel to the mirror face, and have upper and lower mirror edges that are nearly parallel are not affected. Adding a peel and stick plastic wall hanger to a tapered housing will stop the strap from slipping and loosening.
The ball and socket mount is good and tight, but the stud on the ball is loose in the arm. I think most of the jitter and vibration others report is from this sloppy clearance that the stud screw can't tighten enough. I'll be addressing that as well.
A nice option for those of us that
a) don't tow a majority of the time and don't want full time extended mirrors, and/or
b) tow with multiple vehicles and prefer to have adjustability to fit our 'fleet'.
by:
not quite wide enough to see around my 8.5 box trailer but helps the comfort level by not being totally blind.

not so good, rubber straps flew off and lost the little plastic hooks. Just to lite duty to stay on firmly. Probably need the custom fit for Jeep instead of universal fit.

I purchased the towing mirrors for my 2017 4Runner. They are perfect and at a great price!!

I also purchased the Curtis TriFlex break controller and it took under 15 minutes to install. Another great deal. I haven’t had the opportunity to test it yet but from what I read here, I have no concerns.

Order to delivery was less than a week. Very happy!!!
by:
These mirrors work great for me because I don't always pull a trailer with my Dodge Grand Caravan. They are easy to install and remove once I get them dialed in.
by:
Well , mounted the mirrors and did a test run . Pleasantly surprised on how well the did. However , what would be great would be a cover for the mirror. Along with dense foam blocks with an adhesive back. I placed them on the mirror support to take up the slack of the universal fit. 1 inch long 3/8 thick and 1/2 wide worked really well . Also it helps with the vibration. The mirrors standing vertically when mounted . Great value for the dollar amount .

Working out very well . We have them on a 2018 jeep GC limited. We tow a boat with it and the mirrors stay put and work very well.

@MarkE That is great to hear! I am glad they are working well, and it sounds like you added some personal touch to make them work and fit better. What kind of boat are you towing?

  • Towing Mirror for 2016 Ford Transit T250 with Large 13 x 8 OEM Mirrors
Thank you for the photo of the OEM mirror on your 2016 Ford Transit T250. I added your quoted dimensions to the photo. Although we do offer clip-on towing mirrors made for taller mirrors, none is made to fit as tall a mirror as your 13-inch Ford mirrors. Part # CM11952 from CIPA is made for taller mirrors but its compatibility is limited to mirrors that are 7 to 10 inches tall. Since the Ford mirrors are pretty tall as OEM mirrors go, the aftermarket mirror companies figured there is not...

  • Recommended Flat Glass Towing Mirror Without Mounting Brackets
It sounds like the CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror - Clip-On # CM11952 would be a good fit for you. It does obviously have the mounting bracket to attach to your current mirror, but it does not have any separate connection mount directly to your vehicle. It also has a universal fit design and the flat glass versus convex you are seeking. If you don't want any mount bracket then the best option is the Replacement Mirror Head for CIPA Deluxe Door Mount - Universal - Chrome # CM95500...

  • Flat CIPA Universal Mirror Available for Watching Tire and Fender Clearance of Trailer
We do have some other universal mirrors available but even though the glass on the CIPA Universal Towing Mirrors # CM11980-2 has a convex style you can actually tilt and pivot the mirror face 360 degrees to assist you in what you are trying to do. Some other universal options from CIPA are parts # 7070 and # CM11952 which both have clip-on applications.

  • Recommended Universal Towing Mirror for 2017 Ford F-350
I may have a solution for you to add a supplemental towing mirror to your 2017 Ford F-350 but there are not any custom fit options currently available for this truck. With that said you could use a universal fit towing mirror like the CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror - Clip-On # CM11952 on the passenger side to give you a little more field of vision with your trailer. These are sold as singles but you can get a pair with part # CM11952-2. I've linked a review video of these mirrors for...

  • Which Universal CIPA Towing Mirrors Will Fit on a 2019 Toyota Sienna
Yes. The CIPA Universal Fit Towing Mirror - Clip-On # CM11952 are a universal fit mirror that are designed to fit on mirrors that are 7" to 10" tall, but I believe your mirrors are on the smaller end of that and possibly smaller. If it ends up that your mirrors are slightly shorter than 7" then the CIPA Universal Towing Mirrors # 7070-2 will work for you and are a similar option that would be a better fit, and my recommendation for you. We actually have a video test fit of the # 7070-2...
