Updated 05/29/2025 | Published 03/06/2024

Question:

I am looking for a 1 bike hitch bike carrier that has a true 2 inch without using the 2 inch adapters. Could you recommend a carrier? I have a ebike that weighs 55lbs. Thanks

Hi Tom,

For a single-bike rack with a true 2" shank I recommend the Kuat Piston SR Bike Rack for 1 Bike # KU88ZR. This bike rack is rated for use on all vehicles, 5th wheels, motorhomes, travel trailers, and flat towed vehicles so you'll be able to transfer it over to whatever you want. When on a vehicle it has a 100lb capacity and when on an RV the weight capacity will dip down to 67lbs to accommodate for the harsher ride quality an RV would place on the rack. The shank base of this rack can also be removed and would allow you to connect the rack to a roof rack system for even more versatility.

This rack is designed to mount to the wheels but sits far enough out away from the forks that you shouldn't have any interference with fenders. The tray and arms can accommodate tires up to 5" wide so you won't have to buy any adapters if your e-bike has fat tires. There's an optional ramp # KU63VR available as well to help load/unload your e-bike. I've attached a couple of videos below so that you can get a better look at both the rack and ramp to see if this is the right choice for your setup. If you still have questions or would like certain other features then let me know and I'd be happy to keep looking.

@Rob No, there are not. The Kuat Piston SR Bike Rack for 1 Bike item # KU88ZR, stands alone when it comes to capacity. It is the only bike rack that can handle a 100 lbs bike.
