Features to know about

Steady Support for Every Ride: 45 lb Capacity Per Bike

Built to handle real-world biking, the Trail Rider hauls up to 2 bikes at 45 lbs each without flex or wobble. The steel platform frame and 5" shank rise keep bikes stable and clear, even over driveways or rough pavement. The anti-rattle, locking hitch pin tightens the rack to the hitch, cutting sway so everything rides solid from start to finish.

Simple Loading, Secure Hold: Locking Ratcheting Frame Hooks

No need to wrestle with straps or clamps. Just drop each bike into the trays and slide down the ratcheting frame hooks until they lock in place. Each hook moves independently to fit different bike sizes, and the locks are keyed alike to the hitch pin for one-key convenience. It’s a frame-mount setup that works smoothly and keeps bikes steady mile after mile.

Fits More Bikes Right Out of the Box: Adjustable Wheel Hoops

The adjustable wheel holders slide along the arms to fit wheelbases up to 60" and tire widths up to 3.0". Hook-and-loop straps loop around the wheels for extra hold. For more variety, adapters are available for fat tires or small 16" wheels (sold separately), giving the rack flexibility to match different types of bikes in your garage.

Compact When You’re Done: 36.25 lb Folding Design

When the ride’s over, the Trail Rider folds down small. At 36.25 lbs, it’s easy to lift off the hitch and store. The arms fold up for a slim profile—about 9" wide x 39" tall when folded—so it tucks neatly against the wall or in a corner, ready for the next trip.

Dual Hitch Fit and Lasting Build: 1-1/4" and 2" Compatibility

Switching hitches? No problem. The included adapter sleeve lets the rack fit both 1-1/4" (Class I/II) and 2" (Class III) receivers. A single screw swaps it in seconds. The black powder-coated steel construction stands up to rust and road wear, backed by a limited lifetime warranty that keeps your setup ready for countless rides.

Great Rack! Package arrived in perfect shape and ALL the parts were wrapped, boxed, and packaged wonderfully...Took a quick inventory and assembled the rack in about an hour...gave it a test run and everything passed wonderfully. High Quality, extremely sturdy, at a great price and delivery arrived as scheduled...Great product...Great company! Thanks etrailer.com!!

This is an excellent, well-constructed bike rack. For much less money than other racks, it is rugged and easy to use. The locking mechanisms work well, but are also optional. I appreciate this feature as I often ride in rural areas and don't need to lock the bikes down to the rack during transport, so this makes loading and unloading that much easier. Very happy with this.

This bike rack continues to work well and easily. I continue to be happy with it.

by:

Easy to assemble, solid feel and build, folding to store on the wall is a great feature. I found it very easy to configure for my bikes. Lowering the upright post to load the inner bike makes it much easier to use! For 1/3-1/4 of the price of bigger names I am very happy.

by:

Very nice rack for an affordable price. Should fit my needs for occasional bike transport very well. etrailer really has their act together, great website, fast shipping. Great experience.

by:

I love this bike rack! It is secure, folds up easily when not in use, and plenty “beefy” to hold my bike and a lawn chair or second bike. There is little or no “wobble” when traveling.

I highly recommend this rack!

by:

Received rack 3 days ago, used it first time today.
Fit it for my bike. Very good and sturdy. Like that it locks everything.
I will get a lot of use out of it as I meet friends at various locations on our great trail system.

by:

Great value and quality for the price. This is perfect for the occasional use I expect. Thanks for great shipping time and useful information!

by:

I looked at a LOT of bike racks, but when I saw the product video for this Hollywood rack and it was holding the bikes rock solid, no loose bouncing anywhere, I decided to try it and I haven't been disappointed yet. It is solid in the mount, it holds the bikes securely and the locking bars are a good deterrent to anyone wanting a quick steal. I don't leave mine on the car all the time, but so far in the weather here in Florida, it's holding up nicely. Add all this to the great price and customer service from etrailer.com and it's a big win for the average consumer. Thanks, etrailer!

One year later and the rack still works beautifully! Its tight, still holds my bikes securely and all my friends want to borrow it! NOpe! I cant say enough good about this rack AND etrailer.com. Thanks etrailer!

by:

Product description is accurate, quality of better than expected, delivery is super fast - Communication has a glitch in that shipping information is removed immediately. So, it was just a bit inconvenient to locate the package.

by:

Easy to assemble and configure. Easy to securely load bikes. Easy to insert and remove assembled rack from trailer hitch. Hitch mount could use more torsional stiffness, rack twists or rocks noticeably during tight maneuvers and rolling bumps. On reasonably smooth roads not a problem. No discernible relative motion between bikes when secured.

by:

The rack is very well made and very complete, the only nock is that it moves a lot, meaning... The part where it hooks to the hitch has a little play because it's not a snug enough fit so when you put the bikes on the rack they rock from side to side just a little, it's secure and not going to fall but it's just little unnerving.

I went ahead and got the strap that etrailer suggested when I added the rack to my cart and with that now it's perfect! I just wish it came with the rack since it makes such a big difference.

by:

We ordered a bike rack from e-trailer. The bike rack was on back order. Once the rack was received. We received an email stating when the rack was being shipped. We received our bike rack 4 days later. We are very happy with our purchase.

by:

Nice bike rack. No problems after a yea r.

by:

This is our 2nd Trail Rider model purchase. Totally pleased with its performance. So easy to load the bikes onto the rack. Speedy delivery to my home topped off a great purchasing experience.

by:

I got this for use with two full-fender bikes, and I'm very pleased with it. The value is excellent. Assembly was straightforward. It's easy to adjust the wheel trays for your bikes, and very simple to use once adjusted. There's no shortage of pictures of this rack on cars, but one of my concerns was where to store my rack when it's not on my car, and the fold-up aspect of this rack made it one of my top choices. Pictured is the rack in the corner of my garage; I intend to install a low profile hook in the wall to hang it from, but it balances nicely (bottom heavy) on the slab. The lumber is 2x3, not 2x4, for scale.

by:

Great bike rack for the price. With the hitch bolt tight, it doesn't seem to bounce much. It has a lot of adjustability for different bikes. Bikes are locked up and all locks are the same key.

by:

I assembled the bike rack the evening it got it. The instructions along with your online video were great tools to get it built ind install on my Nissan Frontier pickup. I drove 20 miles today and the rack held my bike secure. I have heard some stories about weather affecting the rack if you leave it in the elements which makes sense to
me. After using it today I detached it from my truck and stored it in my garage out of the elements. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this bike rack. It is very beefed up and sturdy. I have ordered from etrailer before and customer service has always been excellent. The box came to me undamaged and packed very well. All parts were present. Totally happy experience.

by:

The bike rack arrived quickly after ordering, the box was in good repair and all the parts of the rack were well packaged and in good condition. This is the second bike rack like this that I have had. This one is sturdier than my original one (9 years old). The rack installed into the hitch very easily (my daughter installed it) and together we put the rack together. I took my bike on a 600 km. trip and there was no shifting or swaying. This rack has locking grip bars (the down bars) which my previous one didn't. A nice touch. thank you. I then took my bike and a 5 year olds bike on the rack and though the grip bar didn't come down quite to the frame, it gripped the seat and I had no trouble adjusting the tire troughs to fit both bikes. Thank you for a great product. Debra

by:

I needed a rack to carry 2 e-bikes weighing 35 lbs. each. While some tray or platform racks have a greater weight capacity, they also cost hundreds of dollars more than this Hollywood rack. This rack was delivered in just 2 days and was easy to set up. It weighs less than my old hanging style Hollywood rack and it is easy to use. The locking anti-rattle hitch works perfect. The padded locking clamps hold the bikes securely while protecting the finish of the paint. This rack is exactly what I needed, and etrailer was wonderful to deal with!

by:

This has been the perfect bike trailer for my e-bike. We also can strap on beach chairs to free up space in the car for more toys. The fact that the main center post folds down is huge… there’s no way that I could lift my bike up and over it like other trailers require.

@Julie That is great to hear that it is working great for you! And super cool that you found another use for it with the beach chairs back then. Glad you bumped up to 2 and still have the same result. Are you around the beach area often? I'm curious how the bike rack is holding up around the salt water!?

by:

I've been using this bike rack for over a year now and I love it. I only carry one bike so I leave off the farthest rack to make it a little more compact. Some minor rust spots popped up pretty shortly after using it around the holes for the steel pegs that allow the tire holders to fold up and down. Nothing to worry about though as it was just minor surface rust where the steel peg actually makes contact with the hole and it never went past the circumference of the hole. There is really nothing that the manufacturer could do to stop that as any coating they put on there would get rubbed off by inserting and removing the steel peg over and over, or even just from it vibrating inside the hole. A few months ago I did have to spray some lock lube into the lock as it was getting tough to press in to slide the top arm up and down, but again that is normal since it's out in the weather. The only other thing I would mention is that when a bike is installed (in the closest position to the trunk) I'm unable to open my trunk as the handlebars are in the way. Again, that is to be expected and I'm pretty sure most other cars will have the same issue. I don't mind as I like the bike to be as close as possible to the car without touching it which is how this bike rack is set up. I use the bike rack at least twice a week and I would definitely recommend it without hesitation. I've included a couple of pictures - one right after I installed it (over a year ago) and one from today.

by:

I was impressed with this bike rack from the minute I unpacked it. The assembly was simple & straight forward. I looked at quite a few bike racks & for the price point this product was hard to beat. It is well designed & the keyhole pins make it easy to remove & fold up when not carrying the bikes. The locking hitch pin & locking frame bars are convenient and fairly secure. I will add my cable lock to make the bikes even a little more tamper proof. So far I’m very happy with this his purchase. Now the test of time!

This rack has served me very well over the past year. It is hard to beat for the money. I use it year round to carry my fat tire bike through the tough winters of Erie, Pa. with no issues. Good product.

by:

No issues so far with our Hollywood bike rack. It works very well for our hybrid street/trail bikes and our beach cruisers with fat tires. Easy to put together and attach your 2 inch receiver.

by:

I like it a lot! I think it has solved my issue with having in easy, yet stable way to haul my bike on my 2012 Honda accord coupe. It's only been one day, so I can't speak about the durability. But it's definitely use a friendly and sturdy.

My new bike rack arrived 2 days after I ordered. I was able to assemble it myself without difficulty. It is almost identical to my old one which I used quite frequently for 10 years, but it has some slight modifications which make it even easier to use. It is easy to put on and off my car and to handle on my own. I'm not big and I'm not young so I appreciate the ease of use. I highly recommend this product.

  • Comparing Weight and Functions of Hollywood Racks Trail Rider and Swagman XC Bike Rack
The Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-Bike Rack # HR200 weighs about 35 lbs. The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack # S64650 is lighter at about 26 lbs. The biggest difference between the two is the Swagman rack is rated for 2 bikes at 35 lbs each and the Hollywood Trail Rider is rated for two bikes up to 45 lbs each. The Swagman rack will offer slightly less bumper clearance and the maximum wheel base is 8-1/2 inches shorter than the Hollywood Racks option. My recommendation between the two is the...
