Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

This hitch-mounted bike rack lets you securely transport up to 4 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The anti-sway cradles securely hold your bikes during transport. Plus, the rack tilts away from your vehicle for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. This bike rack can be used with both 1-1/4" (Class II only) and 2" hitch receivers and comes with a stabilizer strap for added support.

Dual Folding Arms

Dual folding arms of the Curt bike rack

This rack's sturdy dual arms provide excellent support for your bikes. When you're not carrying bikes, simply remove the tethered bail pin to fold the arms down. This folding design allows you to leave the carrier mounted on your vehicle when it's not in use.

Anti-Sway Cradles

Curt bike rack anti-sway cradles

Anti-sway cradles with rubber straps help to hold your bikes securely on the rack. The straps secure each bike frame to the cradles in 3 spots - 2 on the top tube and 1 on the downtube - to help prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-car contact. And the cradles rotate to grab your bike frames at optimal angles. Grooves in the cradles keep your brake lines from getting twisted or pinched.

Tilting Mast for Easy Access to Cargo Area

Curt bike rack tilting

Getting into your rear cargo area is easy, even if the bike rack is loaded. Remove the pin and clip that hold the rack in the upright position. Then tilt the rack away from the vehicle for easy access into your cargo area.

Curt bike rack tilting

A horizontal bar built into the base of the rack keeps the mast from pivoting too far forward and holds it in place while you access your cargo area. When you're finished getting in your trunk, simply raise the mast back up and replace the pin and clip.

Anti-Wobble Hitch Pin and Adapter Sleeve

Threaded hitch pin and shank prevent rattle and wobble of the Curt bike rack

The included threaded hitch pin helps to keep the rack from moving and rattling around inside of your vehicle's hitch by pulling the shank tight to the side of the receiver.

Curt bike adapter sleeve installed

The included adapter sleeve lets you use this bike in a 1-1/4" or a 2" hitch receiver. To install the 2" adapter sleeve, simply bolt it to the bike rack's shank using the included hardware.

Stabilizing Strap Provides Support

Curt bike rack with stabilizing strap in use

The included stablizing strap provides added support by anchoring the rack to your vehicle. This helps to reduce unwanted movement of the rack while you drive. It also helps to take the load off your hitch, which is why the strap is required for use with Curt 1-1/4" (Class I and Class II) and some 2" (Class III) trailer hitches. The strap attaches to the upper center section of the bike rack, in between the dual arms, and to the trunk or rear window of your vehicle. The strap easily cinches tight to provide secure support while the rack is in use.

Tie-down rung on the mast of the Curt bike carrier

A built-in rung on the back of the upright mast provides an anchor point for a wheel and handlebar support strap or cable lock (each sold separately) to keep your bikes' handlebars and wheels from moving during transport. Simply thread the strap through the rung and through your bikes' wheels to immobilize them. You can also use a cable lock in conjunction with the strap to secure your bikes to the rack.

Video Transcript for Curt 4 Bike Rack Review

Today we'll be taking a look at the Curt hitch-mounted 4 bike rack for inch and 1/4 and 2-inch hitches, part number C18030. It's also available on a 2 bike rack, part number C18029. This hitch-mounted bike rack will allow you to carry up to 4 bikes on the back of your vehicle. It's perfect for cars, trucks, SUVs, or vans. The dual arms are going to provide great support for our bikes, they secure our bikes with 3 points of contact. We've got 2 straps for our top tube, and the one down here around our seat post tube is our anti-sway strap. It's going to help prevent bike-to-bike contact, as well as bike to vehicle contact.

The cradles themselves will slide and rotate to accommodate bikes of various sizes. They also feature grooves to accommodate brake cables and lines. With our last bike removed, I can show you how the arms fold down. This will be ideal for pulling into garage, or in a tight parking spot. This is also a great opportunity to show you that we can tilt the bike rack out to gain better access to our rear hatch. Simply pull the clip, pull the pin, rest it out.

As you can see, we've got plenty of room to remove any cargo, gear, groceries. Anything we might have with us on our trip. Here in the back, the built-in rung allows us to add some security to our bikes. Curt makes a cable lock, and that's part number C23666. For more stability, it includes an anti-rattle hitch pin. It also includes a stabilization strap for 1 1/4 or after-market hitches.

It's made out of a steel construction with a rust-resistant black powder coat finish, and it has a weight capacity of 180 pounds. It's the perfect addition to your Curt inch and 1/4, or 2-inch hitch. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. We are working with a 2-inch receiver tube here today, so we've got our included adapter installed on our shank. If we we're just working with an 1 1/4 receiver, we would have to use the included support strap. Since we're not, let's go ahead and get started.

We'll just feed it into our receiver tube, and line up our pin holes. We'll take our included anti-rattle bolt and clip, and thread that through. Once we get that hand-tightened, we can actually take our included tool and finish tightening down. Now that it's tight, we'll put on our clip. Now in preparation for loading up our bikes, we'll need to raise up the dual arms. We can do that by unclipping the pin up here, and pulling it out. We'll raise it up, and reinsert the pin. Now let's undo our straps. We'll bring in our bike, we'll work our way to the back. Once our bike's in place, if we need to adjust our cradle so they fit nicely up against our frame, we can do so. We'll run our top one first, and then we can do our one here. This one's going to be our anti-sway strap. We can do our other top one here. I've gone ahead and loaded up 3 more bikes. Some bikes, such as women's, children's, and bikes with alternative frame styles, may require the use of a bike adapter bar to sit evenly on the cradles. Curt makes one, and that's part number C18016. Let's go ahead and take it out on our test course and see how it performs. Let's start with the slalom. This shows side-to-side action, such as turning corners, or evasive maneuvering. Onto our alternating speed bumps. This shows twisting action such as hitting curbs, potholes, road debris, or uneven pavement. Last of all, the solid speed bumps. This shows up and down action such as driving through a parking lot, or parking garage, or driving in and out of a driveway. That's going to complete our look at the Curt hitch-mounted 4 bike rack for inch and 1/4, or 2-inch hitches, part number C18030.

Look forward to using this on a daily b asis. 477493

The bike was exactly what I wanted and expected. Beats the heck out of paying three times as much for a big named rack. 606658

Definitely heavy duty and exactly what I needed to carry 4 bikes.

- C18030

This rack arrived in good condition and assembled easily. I have traveled over 300 miles with four bikes on Interstate and back roads and the bikes never moved an inch. I have the 2” mount and it is very reliable. The tie-down straps are very easy to apply and remove. I highly recommend this product. 728152

- C18030

Works great! Fits 2 adult hybrids and 2 kids bikes. We've gone on 4 cross country road trips and it's held up really well. 590050

Great! Still works great, carrying 3 adult hybrid bikes and 1 mountain bike

- C18030

good heavy duty bike rack , 451648

- C18030

For the price I thought it might be a little rickety but it is sufficiently sturdy and works like a champ. Easy on/easy off. Fits snug in the hitch and the clamping screw makes it nice and tight. The straps are similarly snug and heavy duty. I have only used it with 2 bikes. I've never put the 4 bike extensions on. That seems like it might be quite a bit of stress for it, but if they were light-weight bikes it would probably handle it. 447763

- C18030

The bike rack is quite wobbly when the car is driving . The straps that come with it do not adequately hold the bikes on the rack. They need to be secured with other methods to keep them on the rack. The rack is also very heavy, so you would think it wouldn’t be so wobbly, but it is. 551923

- C18030

Works great. Only problem I found was some of the smaller adult bikes have trouble fitting on the bars. Sorry I didn't get a rack with the bars closer together. Having said that, they do make an adapter for kids bikes that i may spring for. 603622

- C18030

I received the product in great shape. Very easy to assemble. Will be taking the family for bike rides at the beach, and the parks. 543545

- C18030

The shipment came to us quickly. I found that assembling the product was fairly easy (using a few of my own tools) and the components were shipped in good condition We just used our rack for the first time this weekend on a long interstate trip to a metro area, for a long weekend. Weather dictated that our bikes ended up staying on the rack arms most of the time, through all kinds of road travel and rainy conditions; it held up well while doing a pretty fair job of protecting the bicycles. There was a little "bounce play" of the bikes with each other while traveling at high speeds, but the overall performance of the rack was pretty good for a product at this price-point. I would recommend it to others. 516777

- C18030

I didn't know to pay attention to the 1 1/4" vs 2" hitch adapters. A 2" hitch would be much more stable. Needed to buy an additional tie down strap for side stability. Overall good product; weak point is the 2" hitch necked down to 1 1/4". 792780

- C18030

Perfect! Excellent public service 771399

- C18030

Great bike rack for my motorhome and fast shipping I will be ordering updated lighting fixtures in the near future for my motorhome. 679279

- C18030

Well built, the spacing and hanging plastic parts had to be modified to fit any of my mountain bikes both straight and angled rail designs. Wouldn’t purchase again. 666482

- C18030

Instructions were easy to follow and item is of good quality in some areas. The extension arms to add extra bikes do not secure properly and they rattle around. The design would have been made better by including two bolts per extension instead of just one, which causes it to move about. Overall happy with the product but I'll have to figure out a solution for the rattling extension. 662671

- C18030

had been looking for a solid four bike transport rack. this was it. liked it so much i bought the five bike model for my son. 651509

- C18030

Sturdy rack with really good rubber straps. Very easy to tilt, engage and take on and off. I never go far, but seems like it would be no problem. I often put a men's mountain bike, kids mountain bike and a women's cruiser on it, and with a little Tetris, they fit fine. 641702

Received bike carrier in two days with the free shipping option. Undamaged in original box. Assembly was straight forward, but recommend using box end wrenches over the flat steel wrenches provided. Good that all needed tools for assembly were provided though. Very solid construction. Excited.to try it this weekend. 492946

I love the bike rack. The package was damaged from shipping and the contents inside were only slightly scratched. The rack assembled easily and works as I hoped it would. Kind regards, Scott 445576

- C18030

Great bike rack 441666

- C18030

Assembly was good. Directions were a little sparse and need work but got it together. Good fit on receiver hitch and is sturdy. One pin is very tight but should wear in. Have not put bikes on it yet but pleased so far. 392971

I have been using the rack for over a year now and it works great. It is getting ready to go to the beach again and has been on many trips around town as well.

- C18030

I have assembled the unit without difficulty; however, the instructions could have been somewhat clearer and the pictures could have been more instructive. Overall, the assembly was not overly difficult. It is early January and the 4 bike carrier will not be used for several month; however, the construction of the unit appears to be solid and it is likely that it will be used for many years to come. 330946

Ask the Experts about this Curt Hitch Bike Racks

  • How To Carry Four Bikes On a 2019 Buick Encore
The best option to carry four bikes on a 2019 Buick Encore is with a trailer hitch and hitch mounted bike rack. The trailer hitch you must use is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 36554 because it's the only option with a class II rating and you need a class II or higher rated trailer hitch in order to carry four bikes. For a bike rack, the Curt 4 Bike Rack part # C18030 is a great option and it will work well for you. The stabilizer strap you mentioned isn't needed nor would...

  • Transporting 4 Bikes on Hitch Rack on 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon 2.5i
The factory 1-1/4-inch hitch on your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon is a light-duty Class I type that can handle the load of only two bikes. Even if a higher-capacity rack fits the hitch, such as the Curt # C18030, you are still limited by the Class I hitch to only two bikes. You will want to install a much sturdier 2-inch Class III hitch to allow use of a 4-bike hitch rack. Of the three options shown on the linked page I suggest the Draw-Tite # 75673 for its combination of high tongue weight...

  • Replacement Adapter Sleeve for Curt 4 Bike Rack Part # C18030
I do have an option for you but Curt does not offer the adapter sleeve on the Curt 4 Bike Rack part # C18030 separately. Instead, you could just use something like the Hitch Adapter Sleeve part # HRREDADA as the design is pretty much standard. You might need to drill into the adapter to line up with the set screws on the shank of the bike rack but they are not required.

  • Do Curt Bike Racks C18030 and C18029 Require the Use of a Stabilizer Strap
Whether or not you need to use a stabilizer strap with either Curt bike racks you mentioned part # C18030 or # C18029 depends on the hitch of the vehicle you have. If the hitch on your vehicle is made by Curt and requires the use of a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 then you do need to use the strap. If not, then you do not need it.

  • Adapter Recommendation for Fitting Kids Bike on Curt 4 Bike Rack # C18030
Kids bikes like what you sent in a picture of can be difficult mounting on hanging bike racks since the frames are so small. The solution is an adapter bar like the part # UB01 which attaches to the seat post and then to the steering stem of the bike and provides a horizontal attachment point that is wider for the bike rack to attach to.

I do have options for you but the Curt 4 Bike Rack part # C18030 is not class I rated so even if you were to only carry two bikes I could not recommend you use this on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11276 for your 2013 Toyota Prius V. In order to use this bike rack you would need to install the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7192 which would also allow you to carry the maximum number of bikes for this bike rack so long as the weight of the bike rack and these...

Class I trailer hitches are only compatible with bike racks that are rated for use with a Class I hitch. Yes! Curt 4 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting Item # C18030 will fit the Class III, 2 inch trailer hitch on your 2015 Toyota RAV4. I have included a link to a video review of this rack on a similar vehicle. • Will Curt Bike Rack C18030 Fit on 2007 Toyota RAV4
You would have to measure from your hitch pin hole out to the furthest point out on the rear spare of your 2007 Toyota RAV4 to determine if the # C18030 will clear it. The rack has a distance of 7-3/4 inches from the pin hole to nearest portion of the mast. If the distance you measured is less than that this rack will fit. When we installed the Curt hitch part # C13149 on a 2007 RAV4 the measured distance was 6 inches so there is a very good chance the rack would work for you.
