Dusk at the canyon but the air's clinging to the heat? This AC ends the regret of summer trips and the need to plan around shade maps or cold fronts. It sips power, off-grid, so you can kick back and relax no matter how brutal the forecast gets.

Highlights

  • Sized for Vans and RVs: 12,000 Btu of cooling power keep small to medium-sized rigs comfortable when summer heat hits.
  • Cool Down Without a Campground: 48V DC compressor runs off-grid and off-hookup, perfect for camping in the wild.
  • Air Distribution Box: Motorized, flush-mount box keeps air moving throughout your camper.
  • Quiet Enough to Hear the Rain: Operates at 55 to 65 dB so you hear nature sounds, not your AC.
  • Ready to Go Where the Pavement Ends: Handles rough roads, dry heat, and dust without losing its cool.
  • 3 Easy Ways to Control It: Adjust temp with the onboard panel, remote, or Bluetooth app.

Features to know about

Off-Grid Cooling That Actually Makes Sense For You

You've had summer trips where you soaked up every last drop of daylight. Maybe there were sweaty ridge hikes or sunbaked desert climbs. By the time you crawled into your rig, it was roasting inside, and the fan wasn't cutting it. You've probably even rescheduled trips because the forecast looked rough: pushed back departures, skipped desert trails, or chose mountain over mesa. But with a rooftop AC that doesn't chain you to a plug, so you can chase views, not forecasts.

The Velit 3000R cools your space to a temperature your body can recover comfortably in. It runs directly off your battery bank without needing an inverter and pairs with the power system you already rely on. You don't have to trade peace and stillness for campground hookups. Breathe easier, sleep deeper, and wake up surrounded by the wild, not someone else's RV slide-out.

From muggy coastlines to sun-scoured canyons, if you can park it, you can cool it. However, for longer trips, it's best paired with a healthy battery bank and a way to recharge it, like solar panels or a generator, especially if you're camping off-grid for days at a time.

Comfort You Can Control Anywhere

Panel ControlsRemote Control

If you're relaxing under the stars and not ready for bed yet, you can still prep your rig without leaving the hammock. This AC gives you three ways to dial in the temp. Go old school with the onboard panel, use the included remote from your sleeping bag, or embrace technology and adjust it from your phone using the Velit app.

Fewer Parts, Faster Setup, Quiet Cooling

Ductless air conditioners, like this one, move air straight into your rig without needing built-in ceiling ducts, making them ideal for vans, retrofits, or any setup where simplicity matters. With a ductless system, what you see is what you get: a rooftop unit connected directly to a ceiling assembly that pushes steady airflow into your living space. They're also perfect for adding a second AC to RVs with areas that never cool down properly, like an upper bunk or a rear bedroom.

Once it kicks on, it stays quiet. Eco Mode runs at 55 decibels, which is the noise level of a quiet home environment or steady white noise. Boost Mode tops out at 65 dB, so more like a conversation between two people. It's quiet enough to hear whatever weird noises the woods are making, including sasquatch.

Easy Setup With More Room Up Top

Most vans and RVs already have a 14 inch by 14 inch roof fan. That's exactly what this AC is built to fit. You're not gonna have to make sketchy measurements and cut into your roof. Just pull the fan out, drop the Velit unit in, wire it up, and you're on to cooler nights. With the gasket, mounting hardware, trim panel, and wiring harness all in the box, you're nearly set from the start.

The van life/truck camper world are going to eat these up. Suprisingly quiet and produce good cool air perfect for those smaller vehicles. I like that it is all one unit that just drops into the cutout and then run the wires and you're done. For van life and anyone with a truck camper I think this is the one. The heaters are cool and compact and I like that they are desinged for factory use with the common vans. Overall if I were converting a van that is what I would want.

  • Can I Run 48V 12K BTU RV AC Unit Overnight On 48V Lithium Battery Pack?
Ellen, depending on your battery bank capacity, you may be able to run the Velit 12K BTU RV AC # VE29QV overnight. For example, in Eco mode 300–400 watts, a 200ah 48V lithium system would give you a solid night of cooling and then some, close to 20 hours total! In Boost mode 900–1200 watts, you’ll drain faster and get around 8 hours of cooling. Many folks use Eco overnight, then Boost during the hottest parts of the evening. What’s your battery setup? If not 200ah, let me know and I can...

  • Comparing Velit RV AC Unit Models - 12V And 48V Setups
Cheryl, it comes down to your rig and power system. The Mini 12V 6.5k # VE69QV is perfect for tears and truck campers. The 2000R 12V # VE87QV 8k BTU is ideal for most Class B vans running 12V systems. The 2000R 48V # VE99QV, 10k BTU steps up power for bigger 48V battery banks. If you’ve got a Class C or want maximum cooling, the 3000R # VE29QV, 12k BTU, 48V is the flagship and is a beast. What’s your rig and battery setup? This will really help narrow down to 1 or 2 options to pick from. Folks...

  • Can I Replace Roof Vent Fan On RV With Velit AC Unit 48v Setup? Same 14" by 14" Cutout?
James, yes, the Velit 3000R RV AC 12,000 Btu - 48V DC # VE29QV is designed to fit directly into a 14" x 14" opening, so replacing your vent fan is straightforward. No cutting or major modifications needed. It's also DC 48v power, so it just has 2 wires that run to your battery bank. Do you already have a 48V battery bank? And do you plan to install it yourself?

  • Is The Velit 3000R 12K Btu RV Air Conditioner Worth The Extra Cost Compared To 2000R 10K Btu?
Kyle, if you’ve got a larger rig or live in really hot climates, yes, the # VE29QV 3000R’s 12k BTUs make a difference. But for smaller vans/campers, the 2000R models like # VE99QV 10K BTU cool plenty and save you weight, noise, and cost. Think about your square footage and your battery capacity. Also, keep in mind these are for 48V dc battery packs, not 12v like some of the other Velit AC kits. Other RV owners - did you go with a smaller or larger AC unit?

  • How Loud Is The Velit 3000R 12K BTU 48v AC Unit For Motorhomes?
Paula, the Velit 3000R models like # VE29QV are a bit louder, but still not very loud. Eco mode runs at 55 dB, Boost tops out at 65 dB. That’s the difference between a quiet home and a normal conversation. Still quieter than many rooftop ACs, but not as whisper-soft as the smaller 2000R units like the mini # VE69QV which runs off 12v instead of 48v. Do you usually sleep light or does steady white noise help you?

  • Off-Grid 48V AC System For Class C RV In The Arizona Heat
Steve, yes, the # VE29QV is Velit’s most powerful model at 12,000 BTUs. It’s a great fit for Class Cs or large vans in hot climates. It runs on 48V DC, so it’s built for serious off-grid setups. Even in Phoenix heat, it’ll still take the edge off, especially if you’ve got insulation and some shade. What’s your current battery bank size? A 200ah 48v setup would work really well with this unit. Other Class C owners, let Steve know what setup you have!

  • How Much Does The Velit 12K BTU RV AC Unit VE29QV Weight?
Mark, the Velit 12K BTU AC Unit 3000R # VE29QV weighs 75 lbs. That’s heavier than the 2000R units 66 lbs # VE99QV but not by much, and it's on par with many traditional 120V rooftop ACs. It’s manageable for two people to lift during install. The lightest one we have is the Velit Mini AC Unit # VE69QV which only weighs 49lbs, but it's nearly half the cooling capacity at 6,500 BTU. Do you have roof racks or solar panels you’ll be balancing space with? Or is the roof pretty open for anything?

  • Do Velit AC Units Tie Into RV Ducting System Or Are They Ductless And Blow In From Distribution Box?
Monica, they’re all ductless. That’s part of Velit’s design: rooftop unit plus ceiling box, pushing air straight into the cabin. It simplifies install and works great for vans and smaller rigs. If you’ve got a big fifth wheel with ductwork, you might still want a traditional 115V RV AC for the main system, then add a Velit for off-grid camping or supplemental cooling system to help. What type of RV do you have? If small, you can check out the Mini RV AC # VE69QV (6,500 BTU), but if larger,...
