Question:

I have a 2015 Tiffin Alegro open Road and it has ducts all the way through the ceiling. Do I need a non-ducted or ducted?

Hi Ron,

Do you have a cutout underneath your current air conditioner for an air distribution box?

If you have a cutout under your current AC and your RV has ducts, you can use the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ADV74QR, but you'll also need the Advent Air Distribution Box (ADB) and matching thermostat part # ADV24QR. Air conditioners now-a-days require the air distribution box to work because the control box is installed onto the box instead of inside the unit. The ducted version of the air distribution box also has a plenum in it to direct the air into the ducts. A new thermostat is required as well because there was a refrigerant change in 2025 that required new safety standards, so all new AC units and parts made before 2025 are not backwards compatible with older parts.

If you don't have a hole in the ceiling below the air conditioner, you'll need to cut one for the ADB to fit. The only other option to avoid cutting a hole in the ceiling would be to get a direct replacement for the current unit. If you can tell me what it is, I can see if it is still available or has been discontinued.

What is the brand and model of your current air conditioner?
