Carry More Gear Safely: Class III 2" Hitch for Everyday Use

This hitch gives your vehicle the ability to tow or carry gear with confidence. With a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 400 lbs, it’s ideal for hauling small trailers, campers, or adding a bike rack or cargo carrier. The 2" x 2" receiver opening fits the most common accessories, so your existing mounts and racks are ready to go without adapters.

Tough Enough for Real-World Conditions: Matte Black Powder Coat Over Steel

The fully welded steel construction is built for strength and long-term use, while the matte black powder coat finish adds both durability and style. This rugged coating resists rust and corrosion and hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish. It keeps the hitch looking clean even after miles of travel or rough roads.

Comparison of matte carbide and glossy black trailer hitch finishes showing the rugged texture and reduced reflectivity of the matte coating.

It was good

by:

Just had to open up 3 of the
holes
to get it to bolt up. Other than that it looks and fits good.

by:

Hitch came as expected. Very good quality product.

by:

very tight fit and I had to clean up the treads on vehicle. Very happy with end result.

by:

I already responded through an email, the hitch appears to be undamaged, it was lose in the box and punched 2 roughly 3" x 4" holes in the side of the box, the bolt kit is missing, my guess it went out through one of the holes! The Curt Wiring harness blister pack was pulverized by the 35 lb hitch and it's contents scattered all over the inside of the hitch package, I'm still checking to see if anything is missing or damaged, It looks like it went through a cement mixer! The tube of RTV sealant is now spread over the hitch and dried! The Curt Harness really should have been in a more substantial box, then placed in the hitch box for shipment! A blister pack will not survive floating around with a 35 lb hunk of iron! Other wise I'm satisfied It appears to be a very well built hitch!

It's been a year or so since we got this trailer hitch. Highly recommended, no issues!!

by:

The hitch was a perfect fit. I was installing on a 11 year old northern vehicle and I had debris and rust in the threads of the factory nuts on the frame. I found a helpful installation video on the etrailer website that recommended cleaning them out with a wire brush and if that is enough, good. I did that and that was not enough, I rushed things and tried to force the bolts in and wrecked a couple of them. I should have taken the time to run a tap through them to clean them out. Not etrailer's fault, but it would be a great idea to put that in the recommendations/instructions - it might have saved me having to weld things up now to make sure it is solid. If the factory weld nuts are clean you can install this thing in like 10-15 minutes. They sell a great product, would buy from them again.

This was a perfect fit, and fairly easy installation. It took about 30 minutes to get on, with getting the bolts tight enough in the tight spaces. My only complaint would be that I wish the bolts were about half the length to reduce the wrench turning. It looks great and is very sturdy. I had been putting off getting a trailer hitch for a while, now I regret not getting it sooner. Thank you for the easy shopping experience, quick shipping, and great prices.

I was able to install the new eTrailer hitch with the brackets on each side of my vehicle by removing the spare tire, my wife assisted and we had to pull the muffler to the side using a pry bar to get this eTrailer hitch receiver into the mounting spot on the under into vehicles sub frame mounting area. Once in place i used a tool box to prop the hitch and keep it lined up with the pre drilled and tapped towing hitch holes for the Mazda and that’s where my problem existed. The first 2 large M12 1.25 bolt holes on each side of each bracket on my vehicle were brand new never used and I cleaned the threads with some penetrating oil. Then I used a RYOBI 18V ratchet to start threads on my M12 bolts and this worked well for the lag bolts then I used a torque wrench set to the 86 ft lbs while I used the smaller M8 bolt just using my RYOBI ratchet because it tops out at 20 ft lbs after all holes were lined up on the bracket with the mounting sub frame on the vehicle to keep the bracket in place. I began to torque specs on 4 of the 6 lag bolts but, not the back lag bolt on each bracket while I used an extension socket to install these because of the space constraint I ended up needing to use an impact ratchet to continue torque. While I couldn’t literally turn the torque wrench any further under the vehicle everything ended up flush for the lag bolts before it torqued to 86 ft lbs. But, those back lag bolts one on each side of each corner toward the outer bumper had either been used for a bike rack or just a lot of rust but, I could only get the threads to torque on the back of each bracket to 50 ft lbs. and the bolt seems stuck in as all looks flush and is for the towing hitch mounted flat against the sub frame. I’m now seeking a welder in my area to complete the install by tac welding the 1 bolt in the back of the each sides bracket to reassure the trailer hitch is mounted in place more secure. Also looking to have a weld added to the bracket for more strength and still include using the bolts. A weld with the existing 2 lag bolts that were each torqued to the 86 ft lbs on each bracket with the stuck bolt in at 50 lbs on each side should be more than enough to tow up to the 3600 lbs limit. Pictures show the eTrailer installed and flush mounted bolts onto the subframe and it’s really strong but, to reassure I’m looking to get an extra weld added to complete the deal before I tow anything.
