TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

  • What Hitch Extension Is Best For 2021 Chevy Silverado LT With Lance Truck Camper?
Hey Cindy, thanks for reaching out. We may have an extension that will work for you. It will help to know exactly how long of an extension you are needing as this will be one of the main deciding factors. Let me know how long you need it to be in the comments below. Also, another thing to keep in mind here is that using a hitch extended effectively cuts your hitches towing capacity in half. I am not sure exactly what hitch you have on your Silverado, but you will need to make absolutely...

Hey Bill, We do carry the TorkLift SuperTruss 48" version. We have one that fits into the normal 2" TorkLift hitch, as well as one that fits the Ford factory 3" receivers. For your normal TorkLift hitch you want to go with # TLE1548, if you have the factory 3" you want to go with # TLE1648, both have the 48" extension that you need. What receiver do you have on your F550?

Hey Frank, the correct Torklift Superhitch for your 2012 Ram 3500 is the part # TLD1102-30. This bad boy weighs 125 lbs. You will need to replace your rear Torklift Tie Downs with the part # TLR3505 like you suspected. The 48 inch long Supertruss extension part # TLE1548 weighs 84 lbs and the 60 inch version part # TLE1560 weighs 98 lb. Do you have any other questions?

  • Are All TorkLift Locking FastGun Turnbuckles The Same Length
Hey Todd, great question! There are actually two different lengths. A set of turnbuckles like # TLS9529-2-LK or # TLS9522-2-LK comes with four of the long-range which reach 25" - 43". There are also short-range which reach 14" - 21-1/2" and are designed for bed-mounted instead of frame-mounted tie-downs. You can see these with the # TLS9526-27-LK and # TLS9520-22-LK which include both lengths or on their own with # TLS9520. Do you already have tie-downs for your truck?

Hey John. No, you will not have to remove your TorkLift SuperHitch item # TLD1111-30 or any tie downs to install the Hellwig Big Wig Rear Anti-Sway Bar item # HE24MR on your 2021 Ram 3500. Does your Ram 3500 have a diesel engine? The Hellwig Big Wig Rear Anti-Sway Bar item # HE24MR will only work on the diesel models of the 2024 Ram 3500. It is not compatible with the 6.4 Hemi model. You would need the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar item # RM73FR, which has a different orientation and mounting...

Hello Francis, thanks for reaching out. That is a pretty tall order. The strongest hitch extensions we offer are the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extensions like part # TLE1548 (10,000 lbs towing 500 lbs tongue weight). These can only be used with a TorkLift SuperHitch trailer hitch with stacked 2" receivers. So you would need to install a new trailer hitch on your truck. If you can tell me the year, make and model of your truck I can see what we have available for you. We do have a 14"...

The only way you can get the extension you need for a trailer hitch is by replacing your trailer hitch with the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch, part # TLC1205. • Recommended SuperTruss Extension for Flat Towing
Thanks for the pictures! My main concern in recommending a shorter extension, like the 36" TorkLift SuperTruss item # TLE1536, is clearance when making turns. The 36" would clear your camper and allow you to install your tow bar without climbing beneath your truck. However, depending on the height of your towed vehicle you run the risk of hitting the rear jacks when you make tight turns. Unless the nose of your vehicle is below the height of the jacks then I recommend using the 48" TorkLift...
