I purchased this hitch for a 07 Toyota FJ Cruiser. The only problem that I encountered is that the tailpipe is in the way of being able to attach the bolts to attach the hitch to the frame. What I did was propped the hitch up to support its weight while pushing the tailpipe away from the truck to allow for the clearance needed to thread the bolt through the hitch and into the frame, which is already threaded. Once this is on it looks great!! The name says it all "Hidden Hitch" you really cannot see anything other than the receiver unless you lay on the ground to look at it. I would purchase this again if I had to do it all over. This is my second Hidden Hitch brand hitch from Etriler and so far I am very satisfied and will keep coming back to this company for any future needs.
My product is hidden hitch for 2014 Fj Cruiser. Fit and finish was excellent on the hidden hitch installed in a bout 30 minutes. Fit on the Fj was perfect the online videos are huge help. I installed the Hidden Hitch on my 2008 FJ Cruiser Trail Teams in a little over an hour. Thanks for the excellent video which really helped. it would have taken less time but I had to remove the rear skid plate which comes standard on all Trail Teams Editions. The video was really helpful. For off road use the skid plate will go back on but will need some help by a friend with a plasma cutter to fit around the Hidden Hitch.
The Hidden Hitch has allowed us to now own a motorcycle. The gated community we live in has a no motorcycles rule so towing it in and out is the only option. Well have our new motorcycle in about a week…..thanks etrailer.
Everything arrived in perfect condition - box and packaging were as to be expected - very good.
The Hidden Hitch fit perfectly (2007 Toyota FJ), and all the hardware was perfect for the job. One thing to make note of (NO fault of etrailer) - older vehicles should have the mounting holes soaked with a good rust cutter several times at least a couple days before mounting the hitch. If not, a tap should be run through to clean-up the threads, otherwise the fine-pitch bolts can be a little tough to thread if the vehicle has seen snow and salt.
Also on the FJ, the rubber tailpipe mount is tough to slip off, so I just used a little force to move the tailpipe sideways when bolting up the hitch. This also required the use of a combination wrench instead of a socket - no big deal. Haven't installed their wiring adapter yet, but the hitch is A+. Definitely will buy from them again and will recommend them.

Other reviews say 30 minutes to install, I was done and moving on to the wiring in 20 minutes tops. great, clean installation. The wiring harness took a little longer than other reviews, but I'm extra careful about popping interior body part off of a brand new Toyota FJ.
Received the hitch in perfect condition and was package well. It was a very good quality hitch and was made spot on for my FJ Cruiser. I had NO problems at all installing the hitch by following the their install video which made it easy. The wiring was the hardest and I wouldn't try it unless you are familiar with vehicle wiring. The wiring set that they sent me was of very good quality.
Found the process to install hitch very straightforward. Most difficulty was encountered in removing the vehicle tie down attachment, which uses the same holes to mount the hitch. The bolts were extremely tight and lacking an impact wrench, the box end wrench used needed to be hammered to loosen bolts.
The wiring was a bit more difficult. Clarity of instructions were not what they should have been. It was in the end doable, but required multiple readings and having a bit of mechanical know how.
Not really sure if two stars is appropriate, I'll let the reader determine that.
My 2" Curt Hitch And 2" Curt C45534 receiver took 45 minutes of grinding in order to fit.
The main problem was a misalignment of the two pieces at the end of the hitch receiver. Doesn't seem right for a new product.
Other than that, instructions were clear and supplies were appropriate for a slightly involved install.
Very solid and relatively easy install. The install was a little more challenging than the installation video due to the location of the tailpipe right below the location of the three right hand bolts. It was pretty tough moving the tailpipe aside and down to allow a torque wrench to access and tighten the bolts. Very pleased with the look and quality. Staff was excellent and responsive.

Fantastic! The hitch was shipped to me only two days after ordering (the extra shipping cost is worth it). I installed the hitch within half an hour, on my own. Although the instructions ask for the exhaust to be dislodged, my 2008 trail teams exhaust setup wasn't in the way, and that disassembly wasn't required. This hitch allowed me to reach my goal of bare minimal hitch display - very low key! All in all, I'm impressed by the quality of service and product. I would recommend it to anyone.
I'm loving my Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver. Great price, super fast shipping ( 3-4 days) excellent quality. Looks great on my 2007 FJ. I did have this professionally installed by my long time mechanic and I do have an aftermarket Warrior steel bumper. Installation did require the bumper to be loosened and some shims taken out for proper installation. It was no big deal for my mechanic and this receiver is solid as can be.
Hitch receiver installation was pretty straightforward. It took me about a hour, since I didn't have a extra pair of hands. Used a floor jack to hold it up while I tightened up that bad boy. Looks like it is quality material at a good price. Box was pretty mangled up by delivery company, but hitch was packed pretty good.
Use any carrier but FedEx!
seems like a good product. but etrailer needs to do a better job with packaging for shipping. maybe some bobble wrap should be used. had a number of places the ups had chipped off paint and box was broken open with the hardware sticking out. but all was there. also, time to install was off. I guess that is if you do it all the time. took me and my wife about 2hrs as directions could have had better details like a oem part from toyota, had instr. with step by step so anyone can do the install of the part. but overall happy with the hitch and looks great.
Mounted up to the FJ nice and tight with no problems, and is very solid. I've been towing a small trailer with it occasionally. It's also my recovery point and I towed a small tractor a half mile with it.
It's fairly low profile maintaining most of the FJs exit angle, the slant on the sides helps as well. I give it only 4 stars though because it could be better. I would've preferred that it required cutting away a little plastic from the bumper to fit, pushing it up another couple of inches.
We installed this on our 2013 FJ Cruiser, it looks good and was easy to install. I bought this hitch as an alternative to buying the OEM Toyota hitch because it doesn't require taking your bumper cover off to install it, adds structure to the area where it's installed, and it doesn't take anymore from your vehicle's ground clearance than the exhaust tip or recovery loop does.

I didn,t have the fancy lift or the impact wrench that was in the video.It really only took 3.5 hr. in my driveway, including the wiring harness!All so it was nice to talk with people at E-trailer, they have a clue.No they are not paying me to write this!

Still perfect after a year.
I have a 2014 fj cruiser. I bought the front and rear hitch and an aluminum basket from e trailer. The quality of all 3 products is excellent but the front hitch is a real problem to install on this year truck. You have to cut off two bolts and struggle with attempting to get it on. Finally gave up and took it to my mechanic. Had to drill out the holes to get it on the one side. ........overall I’m happy because all the parts I got were heavy duty well made but don’t kid yourself on self installing the front hitch You have to cut off bolts, need a cheater bar to break the existing nuts and then good luck!! Call your mechanic for this one!
Wanted to upgrade the stock hitch on my FJ mostly because the throat on the stock hitch was shallow and my bike rack did not feel as secure as in the receiver of my other vehicle. This hitch is perfect and much sturdier. Install was easy and took less than an hour. This is my third hitch from etrailer and every transaction has been fantastic. Sometimes it is true that powder coat paint build-up needs filing in order to piece together your hitch and the ball mount item # C45534 that you ordered, correctly. Since you already filed, my suggestion would be to cover it in anti-corrosive paint and lubricate when using the accessory.
