Features to know about

Haul What You Need with Confidence: Class II Strength for Light-Duty Towing

When you just need to tow a small camper, boat, or utility trailer, this Class II hitch gets the job done. With a 3,500 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 300 lbs maximum tongue weight, it’s built for light towing tasks without overkill. The sturdy, square-tube design keeps things stable on the road while maintaining solid strength for everyday use.

Install It Yourself in the Driveway: Bolt-On Design and Precision Fit

This hitch is made for folks who like to handle installs themselves. It bolts directly to the vehicle with no welding required and comes with a complete hardware kit and installation instructions. The precision, robotic welding ensures everything lines up just as it should, so you spend your time turning bolts instead of fighting fitment issues.

Keep It Looking Good Over Time: Gloss Black Powder Coat Over Protective Base

Road grime and weather don’t stand a chance against the gloss black powder coat finish layered over a protective base coat. This combination guards against rust and corrosion while keeping the hitch looking sharp. Whether you’re mounting a bike rack or hauling cargo, you’ll get durability that lasts through the seasons.

Ready for Your Everyday Gear: Works with Drawbars, Bike Racks, and Cargo Carriers

This 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver is sized right for common Class II accessories. Hook up a bike rack for weekend rides or attach a cargo carrier when you need extra storage space. Pair it with the appropriate drawbar, pin, and clip to tow small trailers safely within its rated limits.

Everything is great. Use them all the time. I couldnt be any happier.

by:

Install was easy, everything fit perfect and I did not have to drill any holes.

by:

Super easy to install. The directions said I might need to drop my exhaust and I did not. 3 bolts in, and I check them every couple months even though I lock-tited them and no issues!

by:

The package arrived in 2 days. Installation very well, maybe one hour, but this was mainly because I didn't have a very good 1/2" drill bit.

by:

Always great service from etrailer!!! A AAA+++++

by:

Installation was a little bit of a struggle, I ended up needing to grind down the end of the strip welded onto nut in order to properly position the nut to thread the bolt.

by:

Product came in two days even though I paid for the three day shipping. Very easy installation for my 98 Volvo. Took less than half an hour in the dark using a small flash light for guidance

by:

Just got it yesterday afternoon - it all appears to be in great shape. Only got a chance to kind of hold it up in place, but the installation looks relatively easy. It will look professional when it is done because the curve of the hitch matches the design of the car.

by:

Installation of the hitch on my 2000 Volvo XC 70 AWD was easy. The directions suggested to loosen the muffler. Since I was able to fit the hitch in place without messing with the muffler, I decided unnecessary movement of the muffler wasn't warranted. There was no need to jack the car up. I inserted the right side bolt of the hitch first. Laying on my back I used my leg to hold up the left side of the hitch. The previous reviewer estimated were on target, 20-30 minutes.

by:

I felt like this was a quality product. However your install instructions say that it is a 20 to 40 minute install depending on skill level. I can tell you as a trained mechanic. with my specific model 99 s70 awd ( which did require drilling, and the complete removal of the bumper). That this install will take at least 40 minutes. however I could have done it in probably 5 if I didn't have to drill holes or remove bumper. The hitch seems quality and should easily tow a couple dirtbikes. the only issue i had with install is that my specific year/model. Also needs longer bolts than the ones supplied int the kit. came with 1 3/4" Needed about 2 1/4" So had to get a couple new bolts. other than that. I think this is a great product for the price. I also blame any of the fitment issues i had on my car. As I have always had a little bit of trouble finding the right parts for my car.

by:

Delivery was very quick. Installation was super easy. 3 bolts and done. No need to disconnect the exhaust tailpipe. The quality looks great. I haven't hooked anything up yet but it appears to be very secure.

Love it. My only minor criticism is that it should come with some sort of cover. Even if its a cheap plastic one just to protect it when its not in use. I realize that is probably more of a manufacturer issue but it could actually be a nice marketing tool for you if you guys added one with your company name on it.

Thanks for the follow up Marty, we do have a variety of hitch covers available that do fit a 1-1/4 inch hitch. I have included a link to all of our current offerings. I have also had Curts logo hitch cover C22271 added to this product page as a related item

by:

The estimated time for the hitch install was 20-40 minutes and that was right and it was an easy installation. The wiring harness kit was complete and took a bit more time although not hard at all.

All in all a great hitch at a great price.

No problems at all after much towing.

by:

looks like it will do the job easy fol low

by:

Overall very happy. Great price and quality. Fits the vehicle nice, I think it would be fairly tucked under the bumper (unfortunately just prior to receiving this, my car was hit, damaging the rear bumper cover).
It was fairly easy to install, my tip I learned it to use a piece of wood, strap and a Jack. Place the wood under the receiver and on top of the Jack, and strap the 3 pieces together. It takes a little to find the balance point, but on the three hitches I’ve installed, this made a huge difference as you can easily maneuver the assembly into place. I didn’t drop the exhaust down, but it definitely would have gave more wiggle room, but was manageable.

I ordered this Curt #C12211 hitch from eTrailer for my 1997 Volvo 850 wagon and it was dispatched the very next day with tracking and arrived not long after. I plan to use it with a small lightweight aluminum trailer - mostly for moving my motorcycles around. My mechanic installed it today and told me it lined up PERFECTLY with the pre-drilled hole in the frame. I also received email updates from the eTrailer sales team in case I had any questions. This company did everything right, in my opinion, and has earned my respect and whatever future business I can throw their way. THANK YOU, e3Trailer team...and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  • What Size Hitch is Available for 2000 Volvo V70

  • Can Weight Distribution Be Used With 2000 Volvo V70
If you are planning on towing with your 2000 Volvo V70, you will not want to exceed the towing weight capacity or tongue weight capacity listed in your owner's manual. Doing so can cause damage to the vehicle, along with creating an unsafe condition. The hitches we offer for your Volvo are all Class ll hitches and have 1-1/4 inch receiver openings, like part # C12211 and part # 36262. None of the weight distribution systems will work with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. The only recommendation...

  • Is There a Trunk Mount Bike Rack for a 1996 Volvo 850 Series
I do have an option for you but there are no trunk mount bike rack options confirmed to fit a 1996 Volvo 850 Series. That said, you can install a trailer hitch, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C12211 and then use a hitch mounted bike rack like the Swagman Trailhead 2 Bike Rack part # S63360. This will be a far better option in regards to ease of use.

  • Recommended Hitch for Towing 2 Horse Trailer with 1994 Volvo 850 Wagon
Although I'd love to sell you a hitch, the only ones available for your 1994 Volvo 850 are Class II rated, which has a maximum capacity of 3500 lbs, which is about 400-500 lbs less than your trailer will weigh. And not to add insult to injury, but my research indicates the towing capacity of the Volvo 850 is a max of 3300 lbs, which again is well under the weight of your horses and trailer. For the safety of you, your horses and other motorists, I can't recommend using that vehicle to...

  • Is Drilling or Lowering Exhaust Required to Install a Curt Trailer Hitch on a 1998 Volvo S70
Curt does not specify which vehicle models require drilling or temporarily lowering the exhaust when installing hitch # C12211. It would appear that the 2000 Volvo XC70 does not require lowering the muffler but no work on drilling. I assume on some 1998 models drilling is not required. The bottom line is that you won't know for sure until it is time to install the hitch. I have linked the instructions for you.
